julsnice Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 Will Mod Organizer work if the directory is Read Only? I keep trying to change the attribute but it reverts no matter what (Win7 x64) and i'm running into funky issues and errors with MO saying cannot open or access..
0 Farlo Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 No it will not. Read only means exactly that. No program can alter the files in that folder. That means it can't write any of its configuration or temp files and can't edit any of the actual mod files either. I've never had this issue so I can't really help diagnose it. Remember that Google is your friend and good luck.
0 Luinithil Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 julsnice, please submit a bug report to MO's issue tracker, or comment in the Nexus thread-- I've been having a similar issue and Tannin42 is looking into it, so any additional data is welcome.
0 julsnice Posted March 9, 2013 Author Posted March 9, 2013 Okay will do. I know it's linked to the Windows 7 issue of the OS marking everything Read Only, but there's still some inherent ownership/permissions issues with MO. I believe I resolved my issues by changing ownership of the HD containing my game folder from "SYSTEM" to my personal user/admin profile that I run Skyrim on.
0 Luinithil Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 Your solution may or may not work: Even after I changed all files's ownership to my user account, the issue might still persist-- haven't been able to properly check since I can't seem to get NXM links from external browser working for the past two days since the Nexus updated their site, but before that MO was still throwing errors with its log files whenever getting mods from Nexus, without MO already up and running.
