Grass on Steroids is a performance saver for me. Make sure to edit the .ini appropriately according to the description. The grass density looked like it increased for me while making my frame rate more stable. Aside from that, I had to disable the graphical portion of ENB. I kept it for the memory fixes, but other than that it does nothing. Skyrim doesn't look AS pretty, but having 60FPS stable makes the game more enjoyable for me. I think I'll need SLI to make an ENB playable at my resolution (2560x1600).

Appreciate it. I have no qualms about donating to mod authors, but I can't help but feel that this idea of paying for mods is a slippery slope. -
Taking a Moment to Thank Neovalen

Yeah I've learned so much thanks to your guide. I feel like I could safely make my own modded Skyrim, but I don't feel the need to as a lot of the mods I would put in Skyrim already exist in this guide. It's nice to have a community of people working towards a stable modded game. So thanks again! -

So has there already been discussions about some of the mods SR:LE uses costing money now? Like Wet and Cold? Just curious what that means for the future of this guide if that becomes a popular option for mod authors. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=429374670 -

That's really strange. If it were me, I would look at distant lod's as the problem. Try deactivating some of those LOD/Texture replacers (I think Vivid Landscapes alters those textures?) till you figure out which mod specifically is causing it. Then I would redownload/reinstall in case something got corrupted. -

Yeah, it isn't easy powering 2560x1600 with my 780... I had to disable the graphics portion of ENB for Skyrim Revisited in the end because I hated the drops in framerate. Even games like Far Cry 4 and Dying Light I need to drop my resolution if I want stable 60FPS... I think it might be time for an upgrade, but I kind of doubt the 980 is going to be enough by itself judging by your experience with it. -
Awesome, thanks.

What do your guys' block lists actually look like? Should I just put 'Convenient Horses' or do I need to specify any .esps or directory names?

I think you were right. I put several hours into my game last night and updating the mod seemed to fix that issue. -
How old is the premade Conflict Resolution patch? Is there an easy way to tell when/if the dropbox link gets updated? I've done it myself a few times, but after awhile I start making mistakes and always end up usings yours after I get frustrated, since there is no easy way to undo a bad edit.

Yeah I thought I was bugged till I read the information for the mod. I went to the priest 2 or 3 times, drank several cure potions, slept for a day or two, and I still had rockjoint. I'm going to see if it progresses, if it does after doing all that I might disable that portion of the mod. -

Something went horribly wrong with your install. You might have missed something somewhere along the line, so I'd double check and re-read the step-by-step directions. I've caught quite a few of my own mistakes by just taking the time to re-read. The nice thing is, you're using ModOrganizer so you can disable mods on the fly and find your problem. I'd probably start with easy problem areas, such as the bashed patch, SUM patches, and the conflict patch. I had some really weird issues once because of a bad conflict edit I made. You might also take a look at ENB and making sure that was setup properly. You should, at the very least, be able to see the menu. -
Was it just WAF and CCOR that need the extra delev tag? They already had names and stats for me. I've been continuously testing Skyrim and have to say SR:LE seems to be running just fine with PerMa. Of course, I won't really know till I make an actual character I intend to play and spend some quality time playing. Also side note: Does adding a bash tag require me to run SUM again? I wouldn't think so, but I'm just curious how that affects the patchers.

Oh I'm sure it was something as simple as that which I overlooked. Also I noticed 'No More Ugly Bronze Shine' was taken off after I updated Mature Skin 2 and XP32. Is there a reason for that? Just curious if I should delete it from my mod list or not. -

So I'm having trouble sorting Guard Animations GDO.esp for some reason. BUM just won't let me sort it. This is what it looks like: Any ideas how I can get it to sort? Seemed to happen after a BOSS update. I also ended up removing a bunch of rules too? Hopefully things didn't get too screwed up. Edit: NM I fixed the problem by removing the rule from BUM, restarting, then putting back in the exact same rule and it worked again. Weird, but it worked. -

It is now. Also thanks for the headsup Daniel. -
Hey thanks Daniel! I also was playing around with it last night and am able to load up a new game of SR:LE + PerMa. I more or less used the load order from here as a guide. I wasn't sure whether or not to load the PerMa patches after the CCO patches or not, so I went with after, although I see you went before. I haven't noticed anything yet but I haven't done anything that extensive (I've been noclipping around visiting each town and then leveling up every now and then to see how it works). I will say that I did crash once after choosing an alternative start I don't normally choose, I think it was the one about being a thief. The hunter start one seemed to load with no problems thus far. I noticed in Riften that the rain still passed through the banisters (which I think RealShelters is suppose to fix). Going under the shelther than back out seems to affect the lighting in the game as it needs to reload, as well as the sound. Not sure if that's my screw up or a consequence of something else. I might take it out so I don't have to deal with it. Edit: I wanted to add that I went with the individiual ESPs for the PerMa patches because I wanted better control of where they went. I did the same thing of making the 1nivWICCloaks.esp optional, but I also took the original Immersive Armors esp (Hothtrooper44_ArmorCompilation.esp) and made it optional and instead used PerMa's modified version for BOSS sorting. Edit 2: I see the HiResTextures esps are showing up in my load order despite not being active in MO. Interesting.
-
If anyone has a load order with base SR:LE + PerMa I'd be interested to take a look as well as any additional tweaks you needed to do to make sure it works right. I'm playing around with it now but wouldn't mind taking a look at someone else's for comparison's sake.

Texture choices for 760gtx 2GB
perkymcgiggles replied to Pegasus33's topic in Skyrim Revisited (retired)
I have a GTX 780 but I always grab the low res version if there is an option. Mostly because my resolution is at 2560x1600 and my GPU sometimes struggles with that when there are a lot of high res textures on screen. I figure that the low res version is going to look better than the default anyway. With that said, I'm getting 45-60FPS depending on where I'm at using the low res texture versions. Interiors it doesn't matter just grab the high res stuff as that is going to run 60FPS no matter what (typically). -
Is it possible to reduce shadow distance in cities only?
perkymcgiggles replied to perkymcgiggles's question in General Skyrim LE Support
I tried playing with the resolution. I set shadows to low in the launcher and worked my way up from there. Increasing shadow resolution from 512 to 2048 had no effect on my FPS. It wasn't till I started adjusting the shadow distance that I saw my FPS begin to dwindle (In cities only!). FWIW I am running a Core i5 3570k @ 3.4GHz, 16GB RAM, Nvidia GTX 780, Windows 7 64bit w/ all latest updates and drivers. I think the real killer for me is my resolution at 2560x1600. Shame there is no way to get around this hurdle. I guess I'll keep tweaking the settings till I find the balance of making the shadows look good and cities being playable. -
So I've been slowly going through the STEP guide and testing performance as I go. I noticed that with 'fShadowDistance=8000' I can pretty much go anywhere outdoors and get rock solid 60FPS no matter what's going on on-screen. However, when walking into a city such as Markarth the FPS drops drastically to 30-40FPS~. I did some testing and determined that the fShadowDistance tweak is the real killer. If I set it down to 2000 instead of 8000 my FPS increase dramatically to 55~ FPS. Now, Markarth is probably the most demanding city I think. Whiterun doesn't run bad at the 8000 value, but my goal in testing this is to get the game stable and playable when it is at its worst. So this brings up my original question, is there a way I can run two different ShadowDistance settings simaltaneously? Could a mod theoritcally exist which lowers ShadowDistance in demanding cities, but goes back to its original value once you leave said city? That's the only work around I can think of that would solve this problem. If anyone has any ideas on what I can do to get this performance back in cities such as Markarth I would be all ears though! Note: I tested this performance issue in both vanilla Skyrim and partially modded STEP Skyrim. Performance is terrible in both and adjusting ShadowDistance is the single determining factor in FPS.

Skyrim Revisited Pre-Release Feedback

If this is the wrong thread for this, I'm sorry... but I thought I'd report a possible bug. I was doing this quest: https://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Telrav's_Request and ran into an issue where even though I had killed Telrav, my journal entry still wants me to kill him. Basically, I'm stuck with this quest now. However, reading that wiki I saw that the bug I'm experiencing SHOULD have been fixed with the unofficial patch. So I'm wondering if another mod (maybe Organized Bandits?) had something to do with it, like maybe they didn't incorporate the changes made by the unofficial patch? The reason I suspect Orgnaized Bandits is because the bandits were clearly from that mod, hopped up on PCP and kicked my ass pretty well. I managed to kill all of them though, including Telrav (that dirty bastard)... but alas, my journal thinks he's still alive and I fear I'm stuck with this particular quest forever. This isn't necessarily the fault of the guide though, just Skyrim being Skyrim... although if there is a TES5Edit that can be made to prevent this I thought I'd pass along my input in case it helps someone in the future. -

Ah, thanks. I've been pretty much visiting your guide every day looking for changes and I must have missed that section! I guess that's the problem with only working on this a few hours a day over the course of a week. :P Thanks for replying, and thank you for the guide! I never thought I'd be this involved in modding skyrim, and it's oddly satisfying in it's own way piecing it together. :P -

So about that, I feel like I'm not seeing what you are describing in your TES5Edit merging guide. I'm probably just missing something, but here is what I'm seeing: I'm not seeing where to place the special instructions? After I click 'Okay' it just brings me back to the TES5Edit main menu? What am I doing wrong? Secondly, about the removal of realistic needs, weren't there some mods that had options installed for it? I've been slowly putting together these mods over the course of a few days, so I forget which ones I installed support for realistic needs. I was just curious if I need to reinstall those mods? I just can't remember what they were.
