I did. I contacted Vurt (who was thankfully quick to reply to an issue that someone thought stemmed from his mod).
He told me that the issue doesn't lie with SFO, it's with Grass on Steroids. Apparently Grass on Steroids hasn't been updated since v2.x of SFO, and Verdant is now the suggested plugin to increase grass in Skyrim.

SOLVED: It was apparently an issue with the MO install. I downloaded the 1.3.6 archive and now everything is working properly.

Re-enabling the .esp and reverting to an old save fixed the issue.
I guess I'll just deal with that mod in my load order, and just not use the spells it adds.
