  1. Well, I love the UI for this app and it appears to override nvidia control panel, but the problem I am having right now is that Nvidia Experience launches via SkyrimLauncher and there is no way to set it to launch via Skse. I havent launched yet because I am kinda skeered! but I "think" the settings will still apply. My display also doesn't support 1920x1080, it is a 1824x1026 (only on the de-filtered port though, overscan), and with this new tool, i cannot adjust it properly, so my screen is clipped pretty bad (and for the HDMI de-filter port, or w/e, I do not have the internal size adjustments). The Nvidia Experience app also has a game launcher for games it currently supports, so it's kinda like how you can launch steam games on the steam launcher, but I have all games atm ranging from steam, soe, and origin. Correction/Edit, overscanning couldnt be disabled in the menu - had to find the remote and it had a format button thankfully! So no more resolution issues.
  2. In the STEP guide it suggests using Nvidia Inspector, but I wanted to know how effective Nvidia Experience is for those of us who don't know much about what our cards can and cant handle along with what each setting is actually for. Mainly for opinions and anyone who has had experience with this particular app as I just found out about it.
  3. How are you running Skyrim Scaling Stopper (version 5.10 & 1.8.4)? -Must know secret! :D I have confirmed on multiple occasions that it is DEFINITELY causing me to CTD at the logo with S.T.E.P. 2.2.5 installation in last package install on my machine (among a couple additional packages). BOSS even reports Monster Mod is required over v3.0, but that mod is discontinued so I tried Skyrim Monster Mod Lore-Friendly Purist - version 12.2, both of these mods had heavy conflicts with my installation and CTD at startup. Is there a more efficient mod that achieves what Skyrim Scaling Stopper does?
  4. I will continually swear it worked at first because I specifically remember it asking me if i wanted to copy over, but maybe I haven't slept enough lately. This installation and optimization process has pretty much taken every waking minute of over 4 days so far.
  5. Hmm, this doesn't work because it's an "imaginary" feature hah! Of all the posts I read, I was confused thinking that you could drag and drop archives "inside" of the WB installer window - this has been a miserable fail in every such way I attempted since yesterday (obviously!). Thinking back to the first installation I did, I was dragging and dropping into the "WB Installers folder", with WB on top of that folder (screen space).
  6. Complete Uninstall of Wrye Bash, fresh install of Skyrim, reinstall of Wrye Bash (302, 302.1, 303, and 304, 1 at a time) and it still doesn't work.
  7. I ran into some technical issues so I decided to do a complete reinstall/redownload of everything. I will try to do the TES5edits a little more cautiously this time (WB had a corrupted file somewhere i couldnt find). I am also restructuring naming conventions and directories during this install. Special Notes: HD Baskets does not include the 512x1024 version that S.T.E.P. baseline suggests, despite what the author's description states (unless I did something wrong). Moss Rocks doesn't have a baseline suggestion in S.T.E.P. guide, but does have HQ available (the 1_31 installer is the 2kx2k and the 4kx4k is in it's title - not a big deal, just had to think about it for a minute) Realistic Mushrooms w/Stew has 2 main options in it's download and a baseline isn't suggested. He said he reduced file size and VRAM consumption in his description for the optional low res version, but didn't reduce resolution - ok, that's for yall to decipher, I don't see how that works... but ok.
  8. I found the issue here in the bug reports, but not sure how to identify corrupt mods. Still waiting on the full refresh to complete. The only thing I know to do is to check all the orange installers...
  9. Given how I titled the thread, I'd assume your response/question is fine. I do not know about those though, I just install 1 at a time and check conflicts in installers tab and run BOSS for load order.
  10. Has anyone seen an issue where WB doesn't allow you to drag & drop into the installers? I don't seem to have an "Anneal All" function either as shown in the readme. I found some experiencing the same issue on the nexus forums, but seen no responses to it and one here on STEP forums, but I saw no follow up from the person having the issue. It looks like the 'skyrim mods' folder that WB creates is not in the proper directory. Is it just under the'skyrim' folder which will be in the 'common' folder of the Steam install? What version of WB are you using? ...\common\Skyrim Mods\Bash Installers It worked fine yesterday, not sure what happened or how to fix it. I'm using Wrye Smash 303? I cant find a version number, although there is no update via the update checker.
  11. Thank you! Have you seen a good tutorial showing this process? The little bit of experience I have had with TES5Edit is demoralizing and there is a lot of technical stuff in there i don't understand (IE: Form IDs, from Sharlikran's videos <--- he totally and utterly confused me).
  12. Thanks, Took me a bit to realize that this can resolve a lot of CTD issues, so I had been watching this vid and many others for a few hours now (no exaggeration... lol). Sharlikran seems to know what he is talking about, but I can't follow much of anything he says, he tends to go off on tangents or seems to. I am looking into all the dirty edits now and have successfully cleaned each mod "that has had dirty edit reports AND is verified safe to clean on nexus forums", but on the RLO sticky it says: Hmm, I know how to procedurally "clean the ITM records", but I have no clue as to what I am actually doing, can I just use the same process in Gopher's video? This is only pressing because of some confusing things he was mentioning about daggers and swords in that sticky and THIS needs to be updated for ... well, just me I guess :(  Gopher actually states not to clean other people's mods and to inform the author, so I try to research which ones are safe for me to fix. Nowhere have I seen a statement that implicitly states that it is safe for a user to clean the mods they are using - so I read the Nexus mod's specific forum and find out if I can. Full Sticky: I am only down to RLO atm, but still have dirty edits in UFO and Dance of Death that I need to research. Lastly, how do you guys determine load order? I am taking the additional mods I want and installing them in the appropriate S.T.E.P. category I have defined with markers in WB, but a few are not recognized by BOSS for the load order itself. Unrecognized: Sorry, I am trying to learn here, but man is there a lot to all this. I still need to merge patches in TES5Edit as well, and that video was 30 minutes of nothing but "wtf are you talking about?".
  13. Any chance there is a way to ignore "grass" from DoF effect? I play a sneaky type, and it's quite strange having the DoF going bonkers when in areas with a lot of flora. It's not broken, it works as intended I am sure; just looking to tweak that element. Additionally, I have NOT seen this issue in the other ENBs, nor have I thoroughly tested them out really, but when I am in highly lit areas, the screen gets a bluegreen overlay for long periods of time. At first I thought it was areas with a lot of fog, but it appears it has to do with light in general. The Lanterns of Skyrim, and Ultimate HD Torches(?, STEP mod) mods appear to be able to cause this with almost 100% consistency. I noticed a lot suggest tweaking point lighting for day/night balance, but wouldn't ambient lighting have the largest global impact over that? enbseries.ini SweetFX_settings.txt That was one of the first steps I took in my installation. As mentioned in torminater's post, it made no difference, but thank you for suggesting it and torminater thanks for explaining it.
  14. At lowest settings now with Nvidia Inspector & Project ENB handling everything in post and this is what I have, which by the way is much more impressive imo than @ max settings that cause Skyrim to CTD everytime a cell loads. Unfortunately, with the way im handling gamma, the screenshots will never match what I actually see in-game :( I think I might increase shadows a little... they are not properly blurring/smoothing around the edges, instead they are dithering. Note: on horseback, I have no idea why the DoF goes nuts, but it is very strange.
  15. I have the default backed up I will swap to after I am done messing with the current ini to figure out what does what, the only thing I wanted to do was further appealing viewing distance, but I don't think that can be achieved without modifying "uGridsToLoad=" from what I have seen so far. I also have a new hero now! Animation Tweaks and Fixes by Bergzore, hope it is compatible lol.
  16. I'm not running a Geforce card, but I do stay with Nvidia :) . I only run SLI in 3ds Max if I need more power for highly complex scenes with many millions of polys or complex animations working for people that dont know how to use proxies and/or using an active shade renderer etc... Sadly, doesn't do **** for rendering. I will pull one of my render nodes sometime this month and use it for a gaming rig; those have cheap GTX 2GB cards in them, one of the 500 series cards is all i know. I can say that this thing runs skyrim pretty crappy as designed, but gets the job done. The stuttters I get last a few seconds, but I highly assume it has to do with loading mip-maps, idk; it isn't that big a deal atm, just installing this properly and decreasing the CTDs is nice. I have only had 1 CTD even while min/maxing ini settings just to push a little after this installation. I am not sure why anyone uses SLI for gaming honestly (unless someone is attempting to run on 4+ monitors or something like that, no?), I don't use SLI for anything other than the line above. My workstation isn't for gaming, but I gotta have some fun sometimes :D I don't know much about hardware, but know my setup was as much as my truck. However, could I get some comments on my previous post? I am getting an error in my skyrim.ini file referencing a master mismatch and I get no such warning in wrye or boss (aside from the previous issue with the "Better Quest Objectives" mod).
  17. The in-game slider was all the way down, but I didn't replace the updated ENBseries dll, i think that was the issue (I miss the newer version because i can edit settings in game without the need to alt-tab). The gamma was no where near what that image is boosted up too. I am begining to see the huge factor in viewing distance being how many cells are loaded in memory from the Skyrim.ini, I will follow the recommended setting of uGridsToLoad=7 and iPreloadSizeLimit=126877696, but I didnt get much of a performance hit @ uGridsToLoad=13 and iPreloadSizeLimit=262144000, it just took quite a while for the initial load. I think the DoF makes a lot of things look too blurred, but I am ok with that, it feels correct when playing. I think the cell load and tree/grass distance is also tolerable for now. Current Ini settings SkyrimPrefs.ini Skyrim.ini Emphasis on this: [GeneralWarnings] SGeneralMasterMismatchWarning=One or more plugins could not find the correct versions of the master files they depend on. Errors may occur during load or game play. Check the "Warnings.txt" file for more information. Can't find the Warning.txt and I am not seeing conflicts in Wrye, unless I did something wrong from the installations - still waiting on a response in another thread for that.
  18. I dont think the Cinematic preset for Project ENB works well yet, I was having some serious issues (Bluegreen color overlay across screen in both cinematic and real, but also used the SSAO only preset), but this was what I got with it: Additionally, I just tried your Realism suggestion and got this: The gamma is much lower in-game. Skyrim.ini changes: SkyrimPrefs.ini changes: Those felt like some MASSIVE changes in the inis but the results were... not very interesting to say the least... (mainly Terrain Manager settings)
  19. Thanks Vond, I tried out Project ENB and it looks way better than SkyRealism (DEFAULT cinematics, no tweaking, removed DoF). SkyRealism Project ENB RealVision - ouch I just cant stand how close the vegetation far clipping is and how close the tree LoDs are loading. I think the fix was suggested elsewhere in this thread, will address that now.
  20. Ok, I have a completely fresh install with running step with a few additional mods for immersion and gameplay (hunting! woot). I think the main root of my earlier problems were because I was using NMM to install everything and I was missing some patch files for some mods referencing DLC. These shots are with full EXTREME STEP, with 4k textures toggled on where optional (I have 1k, 2k, and 4k versions of all the higher res texture packs that I can swap around). As noted above, also using additional mods. This is what I am looking at with a hell of a lot more stability: The gamma is much higher in-game, so the screenshots actually kinda look better. I will attempt to get that adjusted, but would anyone running cinematic SkyRealism have any other suggestions from what is shown here? I feel like the sky is a little lacking too... Facial/Body textures wouldnt hurt either, but I don't want to run the UDP or CBBE; as I do not think they enhance the male meshes or textures (breaks immersion for me, and don't really care for the nudity or the pristine skin conditions in Tamriel's weather/environment). Mod Order:
  21. Ok, I just noticed an issue with Skyrim Redesigned; the BCF that is available doesn't work with Conversions -> Apply, did I miss something? Additionally, the Trees_HD BCFs seem to load as a whole new package, right now I have: Active - Trees_HD_(Ultra)_v1.6.7z <--- from BCF Active -TressHD_Skyrim_variation_ULTRA_NEW-3812-1-6.rar Disabled - Trees_HD_(Ultra)_v1.6.7z <--- from BCF Disabled -TressHD_Skyrim_variation_ULTRA_NEW-3812-1-6.rar Obviously, so I can toggle as needed if VRAM poses an issue (I did this for all HD 4k variants) I am getting this in Wrye Bash for Better Quest Objectives: The main file appears to have recently been updated to 1.2, because my backup from NMM I installed the other day is 1.1, could that be causing this? I do have a lot of dirty edits in the BOSS report as well, that means I need to read and use TES5EDIT for another 5-8+ hours right? :( Lastly (for technical issues), the Skyrim Project Optimization... I have no idea what to install for this. I downloaded Skyrim Project Optimization - Full Version, but I assume I need 2 packages for this particular mod? Also, I personally think (for new pplz like me), the guide should have a note somewhere in about a 255 size font + bold red + "Don't use NMM", Wrye and or MO works so much more efficiently! :D There is no freakin way I could keep up with all these conflicts in NMM or even hope to clear it up. Installing in the packages tab is SO convenient.
  22. Think I got everything working. During this install process I found a problem with a few mods requiring some less than easy setups that went unnoticed due to use of NNM the first time (was also missing the Dawnguard compatibility mod for Lanterns, I was running MCM and I dont think that one works for Dawnguard). I have been running the game through skse at each benchmark and all is fine, not even the slightest stutter yet either. I am also running RLO + COT + SkyRealism(Cinematic), which i placed in varying locations in the "Landscape and Environment" sections save the ENB obviously. Although, I am only just now getting to "Characters and Creatures".
  23. It was a Whiterun Guard Shield or looked like it, but a bandit was carrying it. It posed no issue to me at the time and was of little concern until I started reading about issues. I think the problem is RAM and VRAM, with some possible texture issues I might have accidently messed up installing. The load orders for mods after S.T.E.P. mods were killing me, but I was using NMM and then trying to adjust with BOSS and the Wrye Bash "mods" tab. I hope it will be more efficient installing and maintaining entirely with Wrye this time. The major issue with MVABasics and it's other two files, is BOSS didn't recognize them and I couldnt figure out what they were without a LOT of googling and thread searching nor could I figure out where to put them in the load order. If wrye will show conflicts (I am still archiving optimized HRDLC textures atm), then maybe things will be easier to follow this time.
  24. Thanks, So in the mean time, I can just make 3 DLC1, 2, and 3 "archives" with a Vanilla_Textures "archive"? Then just pull those up in the "Installers" tab? This confuses me because of the .esp files; I dont understand how they are addressing the texture files inside these folders without the original path/names or bsa files. Totally sure I am way off-base here, but I am imagining that the .esp files call to the .bsa files to load textures for that specific DLC, or maybe the textures ALL load regardless then the .esp calls? Holy crap, idc lol, just as long as I do it right! :D If you are suggesting I avoid using .bsas for Dragonborn.bsa, HearthFires.bsa, and Dawnguard.bsa, what would you suggest? I assume I need to keep RAM and VRAM usage low, so whatever you think is best is far better than what I'd try I am sure. I have 6GBs of VRAM and prob more with SLI enabled (12 I guess), but I dont know how all that works. After reading the 3GB thread though I re-converted everthing to max of 2k textures, which is depressing :( lol. This is what I am looking at: This is how I organized the archives:
  25. Hello, If anyone has followed my previous posts... I had been experiencing some odd CTD and display issues, so I am going with a full fresh re-install and following every little step I can. That being said, I have at least 1 question so far: It says here: then in the sidebar is says: I would like to compile the 4 archives into a single "complex BAIN archive" file, but I am not clear on how to do this as I don't quite see where it says to do it in the sidebar note. Is this particular sidebar note suggesting that I just take HRDLC1, 2, and 3, along with STD folders and just make 1 .rar archive? I am using WINRAR and I have all 7 "folders", not "archives" in the "Bash Installers" folder currently. I would like to follow the suggested route and NOT use .bsas when I don't have to. The tutorial I found here seems to be for creating .bsa files. I assume I can follow the previously mentioned tutorial or just load/process the DLC folders in DDsopt to complete the DLC.bsa files since they seem to need to remain .bsas. Additionally, and unfortunately, it may appear that my issues might be coming from something mentioned here (3GB RAM Issue) rather than a mod conflict, but I will address that later once I have a full fresh installation. I simply assumed there was no way possible that Skyrim could hit my cap and I was fine on hardware. When posting for support, please including the following:System Specs - Xeon X3430, Nvidia Quadro  6000 SLI (disabled outside of 3ds Max), 32 GBs RAM, SATA 6gb (no SSD) Graphics driver version and settings - Version: 13.00.04 Skyrim launcher settings - (Recommended settings via here) STEP version and any additional mods used - S.T.E.P. 2.2.5 (Incomplete) Texture/quality resolution options - Variable, depends on mod 1k-4k (no point in 4k maps on a plaque imo) Installation method - Wrye Bash
