Can you leave out parts of the step core

Hi, I'm a noob to the STEP process and Nexus. I have modded though steam and NMM for fallout NV. I went wtih step since it seems well balanced and the amount of mods to choose from seems a bit overwhealming. I'm not too much of a fan of the Step Core parts: - Main Font Replacement - Lockpicking Interface I kind of prefer the vanilla version. If I leave these step core's out, can I still use the step core patch? Or will it mess something up?
