I works! I got killed by Alduin six times before I could even get out of Helgen...

Update again... I deselected the 2 Real Shelter mods in MO and proceeded through to the end of the guide. Got to the conflict resolution guide way at the end (yea!). Rather than spend another hour doing conflick resolution line by line, I downloaded the pre-made esp. (call me lazy) Then I tried to sort the masters in SR Conflict Resolution.esp. I couldn't do this because I had (intentionally) left out three mods from the guide (RS Children, Courier Service, and Alternate start). They didn't seem all that necessary and I didn't want to complicate the game more than I had to (yes, I'm way beyond that point now anyway :p ) So I put those mods in, according to the guide. When I run TES5edit, skyrim.esm is now selected by default. (hmmmmmmm) I sort the masters and exit out. TES5edit doesn't complain.... I go right back into TES5edit and notice, again, skyrim.esm is (still) selected by default. So i run the RSPatch and it zooms along with no errors. (just lots of dialog boxes to click "OK" on) [Apply Script done] Processed Records: 204, Elapsed Time: 05:31 So how did I fix it? I prayed a lot... Not so sure how neglecting any of those three mods would have caused the RSPatch (or TES5edit) to fail. Thank you both for taking the time on this New Years Day to help a nerd. Good on ya. and Happy new year!

Okay, sorry for freaking out. And i was about to give up my hopes of Skyrim modded bliss and go play checkers... but I'm trying again. Okay, now I've disabled ASIS in MO and launched TES5edit. I noticed it automatically selected skyrim.esm this time (it hadn't when I ran TES5edit with ASIS checked in MO, I thought it was weird at the time but just did a 'select-all' to open TES5edit) This time I got an error AOS.esp cannot be added to the RSPatch.esp because it has a higher load order. I go and drag and drop the RS mods above the Audio Overhaul mod in MO. Run TES5edit again. (I notice that skyrim.esm is NOT checked by default this time, so i select-all). Run the script. Same error. EDIT: Found out that the Real Shelter mod has just been updated a couple days ago, (which is the version I just downloaded today) maybe the updated version needs more love. I'll keep researching.

Now I'm stuck and afraid to do anything. I install the first two MODs of real shelter, then I install the script. Then I run TES5edit, select all the files, (like the guide said) and click create patch on RSPATCH.esp. *BOOM* big error. I try to exit out, but I'm afraid I've already done damage. Then I notice the warning in the script (a little late) WARNINGS \_________________________________________________________________ One or more the following files have been detected: SUM.esp ReProccer.esp SkyRe_Main.esp & Modules ASIS-Dependency.esp -----SkyRe and All SkyProc dependant mods have had a long history of corrupting files when you try to copy their records in Tes5Edit. If you have any weather mod that requires any of the mods above then I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY suggest restarting tes5edit and not loading them in. Really? No mention of this at all in the SR:LE guide? none! The guide tells me to install ASIS and then select ALL mods in TES5edit which is counterindicated in the patcher script. Now I think I messed up my game and I don't know what to do from here. Help anyone?

what is STEP:Extended exactly?
FreeMortal replied to FreeMortal's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Okay, it looks like (in this case, at least) you don't want to replace the mod when it does that. MO looks up the ID and gives it the name of the last mod installed from that ID. To work around, I click Rename instead of Replace, and type in the mods name. (in my case, since I've already installed aMidianBorn Book of Slience - Armors, I will be sure that the weapons mod will be named aMidianBorn Book of Slience - Weapons. If I just clicked Replace, then I'd have a mod called aMidianBorn Book of Slience - Armors, but it would contain the files of aMidianBorn Book of Slience - Weapons.) Crisis averted, I think -

FreeMortal replied to FreeMortal's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Here is my current method: I've already installed STEP:Extended Copied it to profile Skyrim Revisited Uninstalling and Reinstalling all mods for which SR:LE has different options. Crossing my fingers... Noticed that MO reports some mods as being already installed, when I try to remove then reinstall them. When that happens I just click "replace". Only had to do that a couple of times on the Book of Silence mods. Bad bad bad! Something went wrong. MO is putting all those mods into one single mod. Trying to fix... will let you all know what happens. -
Just want to note that they keep updating Groovtama's XPMS Extended (now v2.33) and now its difficult to see which version is which on the nexus page without actually trying to download it first. Noobs are likely to use the NMM download link which will be the wrong one. Maybe attach a link in the guide to the 2.06 version.

Can't run EMB Manager as administrator
FreeMortal replied to FreeMortal's topic in Skyrim Revisited (retired)
No error messages of any kind so far. But I have skyrim installed into d:\games\steam to avoid permission issues. I like the Manager so far, but I haven't used any other so have nother else to compare it with. Create a profile, add your files, click activate, and it zips along... I'm using d3d9.dll method. -
Okay, so far so good One last thing I'm not crystal clear on. I keep those mods I merged (in my case, the COT patches) enabled in the MO left pane right? Now, according to that video, Ineed to then find their corresponding .esp files (in the right pane under the plugins tab) and un-check them. However, Neovalen's guide says that I need to right-click each of the original mod patches in my left pane of MO, select information, and then move the ESPs up to the optional pane. I think these two methods are accomplishing the same end result as far as the game is concerned, however Neovalen's method appears to be cleaner from a modders perspective. (EDIT: Neovalen's method produces file not found errors in the log in the lower pane of MO, but the game launches okay) Do I have this right? As an aside, I guess a mess of mods in MO left pane beats a mess of .esp files, but is there a best practice to keeping track of all the additional mods and merged patches in MO? Right now, I'm just attaching a note to the merged patch mentioning all the mods contained inside so I can be sure that merged patch is below the original mod patches.

Made some progress here... What really helped me was the merging video here. (made a couple months ago) It uses an experimental version of TES5Edit with the popular merge script from Nexus. (no need for Xedit, I guess) Also, There is a completely different and more comprehensive merging guide here. It appears to be more up to date because it mentions LOOT instead of BOSS. Hope this might help someone else.

The ENB_Manager I have (latest version I believe) is just in a .jar file. I have no option of running it as an admin. Seems to work anyway though judging by the fact that it moved all the files I selected when I pressed "activate". Confusing though. Did it work right? If I have to run it as an admin, how do I do that with a .jar file?

Hi ladies and gents, Me again, still trying to learn all this, and failing. My stupid question of the day: Mod merging - lots of ways to do it... and therefore lots of ways to do it WRONG At the bottom of weather systems in the SR:LE guide, it is recommended to merge some of the climates of tamriel mods and the guide provides a link to a small guide on how to do this. Unfortunately the guide appears to be outdated as the instructions don't at all match what I see on my TES5EDIT screen when I try to pick a filter (Merge plugins vX.XX doesn't exist). When I just select "Merge" I get a different set of options from the guide at which point I go no further rather than to risk ruining all the work I've already done. So... how should I merge now? I found what looks like a downloadable script for doing this, but its for Xedit which doesn't appear to be mentioned much in the STEP community. Is it the right tool for this job? Do I just merge through Xedit now instead of TES5edit? Or is that a whole new can of worms? Do I need to merge? If I'm not pushing the max limit of esps, is merging still necessary/helpful? Can I put Climates of Tamriel - Sounds and its Dawnguard Patch into the mod merge as well? (or should I avoid all that since it is not mentioned in the SR:LE guide) Thanks for reading!

I setup STEP:Extended according to the guides and then copied that profile to a new profile in MO called Skyrim Revisited. Can I just optimize and install the extra packs from the Revisited guide? Or do I have to choose one project or the other? I'd like to install Requiem on top of it all! Anyone done that?

what is STEP:Extended exactly?
FreeMortal replied to FreeMortal's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Well Maybe I screwed things up then... I installed all the mods, more or less in the order presented in the guide. I did NOT instell the greens, then the non-greens. (which I think I should have done) During my journey through STEP, I've noticed that when I create a new bashed patch I'll ger order warnings from MO (not LOOT). I click on Fix all, and I can see that they are reordered. Run LOOT again, Bash Patch again, until MO doesn't complain anymore. Hope they are all in good order. Game seems to run so far without CTDs, although my framerate is horrible (R9 280x). Is it okay? or do I need to back up and uninstall all the non-green mods? -
what is STEP:Extended exactly?
FreeMortal replied to FreeMortal's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Thank you so much for your patient answer. I've been working all day on this (finally made it to the bottom of the guide) and look forward to playing skyrim soon. -
I'm sure it's complety obvious to most of you but I just don't know for sure. I go to the Pack:STEP:Extended and it tells me this is for devs only and to use the main guide, which mentions little about STEP:Extended other than refer back to that dev page. So what is it exactly? Is it just all the mods in the guide without a green bar? Also, is STEP:Skyrim Revisted ready for me to try or should I not?

No Bashed Patch data in MO overwrite folder
FreeMortal replied to FreeMortal's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Thanks again! Sorry, I've been doing so much reading and have so many tabs up that its hard to keep all this straight. -
No Bashed Patch data in MO overwrite folder
FreeMortal replied to FreeMortal's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Just want to be clear. Since I've already created the bashed patch, every subsequent rebuild of the patch done from WB (launched through MO) will be automaticly merged with the "STEP Core Bashed Patch" automatically? This is all normal behavior? -
No Bashed Patch data in MO overwrite folder
FreeMortal posted a question in General Skyrim LE Support
Here is what I do: I run WryeBash from MO (MO locks and stays open) I right-click "Bashed Patch, 0.esp" and select Rebuild Patch Everything I bashed together in the patch before appears to still be there like Traps Make Noise.esp and GQJ_DG_vampireamuletfix.esp I click on Build Patch I close WB and return to MO Overwrite folder is emptyThe first time I made a bashed patch earlier on in my STEP process, it all seemed to work fine. I found extra files in my overwrite folder and I created a new mod called "STEP Core Bashed Patch". Now nothing appears in my overwrote folder and my Skyrim/data folder doesn't have the Bashed Patch, 0.esp file.... Where did it go? What could I be doing wrong? -
Mod installation order, dependancies, general nerd overload
FreeMortal replied to FreeMortal's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Thaks so much for your kindly response! Off I go into the trenches! -
Hello, Let me start off by saying that this whole project is cool, really cool. You totally got my nerd juices flowing. But wow, this is a lot of stuff to learn and there are so many points in the process where I can easily screw things up. (and I want to make sure I don't) Can anyone help? Here's what I'm trying to do: (haven't played skyrim for 2 years) Reinstall Skyrim from steam vanilla with all DLC.Replace NMM with MO and just redownload all mods (mine are old)Install STEP core and extras for 3GB ATI card.Wyrmstooth Falskaarand more... but I want to get all the above right firstHere are my problems: While installing STEP core I find there are some dependancies that prevent it from running without downloading more mods. Because of this I am unable to test and bechmark at the suggested milestones. I'm afraid if I install those necessary mods now (out of order) I'll screw something up further down the line. For example:Consistant older people requires Bring our your Dead which isn't supposed to be installed until much later. Complete Crafting Overhaul Remade requires it to load after aMidianBorn_ContentAddon.esp which wont be installed much later. SkyFalls and SkyMills has a Wyrmstooth and Falskaar version (I want to use both) however STEP recommends I don't install it with Wyrmstooth and Falskaar for the core build. Do I install it without support for the extra mods and wait until I'm sure I have a stable core build, then install Wyrmstooth and Falskaar and then reinstall SkyFalls and SkyMills with support for the extra mods? Or do I just install it full now and just tack on Wyrmstooth and Falskaar when I want to test my (modified) core build? Can I use the new OneTweak instead of the double cursor/borderless window fixes or does it break something? Does install/load order matter?LOOT dells me that Dawnguard.esm contains 6 ITM records and needs to be cleaned. I had already cleaned it in earlier steps in the process. Do I need to clean it again? Thanks for taking the time to read this and I appreciate any replies.
