  1. 2 minor but useful mods I stumbled upon: -Unarmed Various actions Include Melee armed by oldc https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/41780/? This mod adds a few unarmed combat moves to your player; i'm not 100% on how all that works but the main thing I like is it comes with dual wield parrying (armed and unarmed) and it's done by pushing the left hand attack button while not moving (if in motion you will attack with the left hand instead). If you push it and then start to move you will remain blocking. The system works very nicely in my tests, and it's script free. There's also a module for "avoidance" (dodging), which allows you to do dodge moves and also set lvl of dodging by NPCs. All is configurable via MCM menu: -Grimy Utilities by Grimy Bunyip https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/36328/? This is more of a personal choice because it solves 2+ of my grievances. To quote mod author "They're all convenience tools. Stuff to save time, frustration, and streamline gameplay." Stuff like auto-casting, hotkey casting, and my favorite: option to hold button to sneak instead of press a button to toggle sneak (very helpful for playing with controller as I do)
  2. I remember looking at that mod a long time ago and it seemed a compatibility nightmare, but I will take another look with my new mod list. You're right, it is a compatibility nightmare, but it has several well deserved patches. It really is that good. I was using it in my very first builds; was reluctant to part ways with it.
  3. Yeah for anybody thinking of trying the Transparent and Refracting Icicle and Frost Atronach mod you'll have to disable the bars: Can probably get it to work using the tweaking mentioned on the mod page though; It's worth it, the effect is really "cool" lol I must say, i'm really gleefully enjoying this build so far. As long as things work (I still need to do conflict resolution because I have naked people, missing textures, duplicate items and sheaths with belt straps), I may just stick with this for a while and actually play Skyrim instead of playing the "update mods" game
  4. The bright sky: That's due to Unreal Cinema ENB. Many folks have the same complaint. I commented about it on the Unreal topic, was told to try turning off procedural sun and volumetric rays, but I haven't tried it yet. Space issue: I ran into the same problem because for a long time I had both my download directory AND my install directory on one, separate HDD. Of course, it was causing slower gameplay, so I recently closed MO and used a copying tool to mirror my install directory to the same SSD drive Skyrim is on, then opened MO and changed the mod install directory to the new location. Worked like a charm, so you can definitely do the same for your mod download directory (in fact I have mines set to the same download directory that NMM uses in case I decide to use that in the future). Just remember to also duplicate your permissions so everything goes smoothly if you move your stuff.
  5. Ojack I highly recommend you check out JawZ's Guide to ENB:https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/39742/? Just download the PDFs, open them and then ctrl+F to search whatever you want to change, it will basically describe exactly which settings apply to it and how it affects the visuals, with pictures as examples. It helped me understand ENB a lot. I recommend this because some things have multiple settings to adjust, and when dealing with ENBs it's usually about how it looks/performs on YOUR personal computer, so tweaking is almost essential. Also, ENB is very complicated and changing one thing can have wild affects in other ways... If you don't want to do any tweaking at all then I suggest just trying different presets until you find the right one. Don't be too afraid to try others, you basically want one that says it's compatible with CoT (because some presets come with their own custom set of weather parameters). CoT and ELFX support are the main things you're looking for when choosing an ENB preset for this guide (Neo would know best of course). Just be sure to FULLY uninstall ALL ENB related files before switching to a different preset; I highly recommend removing it fully and then running the game regular before attempting to install another preset, or else visuals could be wildly affected.
  6. Its OK, we can't all have good taste.... I kid I kid. Been trying out some of the popular presets out there lately and still keep coming back. Gone through Phinix and Somber recently. Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk I really must applaud you for your taste, because Unreal Cinema is one of, if not thee best preset I've used as far as balancing looks with performance and least amount of tweaking needed. I did some lite testing with a half-finished SR:LE build and Confidence Man's new Natural Lighting and Atmospherics ENB preset and weather plugin (removed CoT but kept ELFX), and the results were astounding as far as real world lighting goes. Fire/lighting was a little brownish and soft, overall definitely not as contrasting or atmospheric as Unreal Cinema. But it does produce very nice, blue skies and true ambient/indirect lighting. I highly recommend it. I'll post some pics in a few
  7. Heads up: The Paarthunax Dilemma was just updated to v1.26
  8. I said the same thing to myself but didn't mention anything cause I thought it was intentional to have both. Have you confirmed alls good with windmills without the Windmills Resized mod? I believe it worked for my last STEP build but then again that was a buggy mess lol Speaking of removing mods: Neo do you have any opinion on using TES5Edit to merge certain mods together after testing a base build of SR:LE? It can cut down number of ESPs loaded and I hear it helps performance too...
  9. No doubt, my daughter is going on 10 so I know what you mean. In fact I was just thinking you've been doing a stellar job updating this guide as is. And we thank you for it oh so much!
  10. I'd like to suggest some mods to incorporate into the guide (some of which are from S.T.E.P) (My apologies if any of these mods have been suggested previously, I'm new to the Skyrim Revisited scene but I've ran searches in this thread for some of these and no matches were being found): -Immersive Spells and Light - Spells emit light: Awesome mod that makes all magic FX cast light on surrounding environment (without creating shadows). Has MCM menu with options for casting distance and light color amongst other things. Worked well in limited testing. *EDIT: This one appears to have some conflicts in TES5Edit, unsurprisingly. But may be it's workable? Who knows -Customizable Camera: Does what it says and has nice MCM menu for complete customization options (Also fixes 1st person camera issue BTW) -360 Walk Run Plus: Was in the original SR guide with no apparent conflicts so wondering why it was taken out? -Faster Mining -Lively Inns and Taverns: may have conflicts/wild edits but works well with the separate Fewer NPCs Patch from my tests (don't remember seeing anything funky in Papyrus logs either) -Lock Overhaul: Was in the original SR guide with no apparent conflicts so wondering why it was taken out? -Height Adjusted Races with True Giants: Worked well with other camera mods listed in my tests -Immersive First Person View: Wonderful mod that works better than Joy of Perspective and has MCM menu. Seems to work well with other mods that change skeletons/animations/etc. Mod author says its incompatible with 360 Walk Run but they do work together and usable depending on personal tastes (when using both you will see super closeup of your character's face when "walking backwards" towards the camera...nice effect actually). This mod also adds 1st person horse riding and it's quite enjoyable too... -Smaller Ice Spike and Ice Spear -NpcHavokHit: Adds visual reaction FX on NPCs when they're hit. Heard it has conflicts but seemed to work fine for me -AE Animations: is just like Dovahkiin Relaxes; I haven't experienced any issues using it -Run Sprint and Jump - Jog and Jump: Way better jump and run animations (conflicts with Immersive Animations can easily be worked around) -No heavy muscular walk and idle: Idle stance/animation for males very similar to vanilla idle but looks more natural -Exhaustion: Awesome mod that gives your player heavy breathing audio after exertion. Has MCM menu for customization, and has worked well from my tests Again, apologies if these were covered already, I just feel these bring a lot of immersion to the game as well as "fix" some issues
  11. 1. Rough ideas and a few items in my testbed yes :) If I get some more spare time I'll write something up. 2. Feedback is great but prefer to do edits myself. That being said if someone fixes a typo I'm not going to freak out... Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk Great, thanks for fast reply, much appreciated.I'm currently typing up a list of some mods I'd like to suggest and will post up once done, would love to hear feedback on them from you and everyone else, when you get the chance of course.
  12. Neovalen, I realise now that I forgot to officially thank you for your awesome work and guide in my previous (first) post. I've already learned a lot from reading the SR guides and I wanted to say that I'll be referring your guide to any others interested in modding Skyrim. I know you said SR:LE is still unfinished...and I apologize that I don't have have the time to read through all previous posts in this thread (so apologies if this has already been covered), but I was wondering 2 things: 1. Do you have a rough idea, or a list of other mods currently on your table as possible additions to the guide? Perhaps if we knew this we could help you test them out for compatibility and issues... 2. Would you prefer that we not make any edits to the guide and just suggest any fixes to you? Or should we just dive and contribute? Looking forward to helping out however I can. thanx
  13. I'm trying Skyrim Revisited for the first time (planning on using Iroha's guide to implement SkyRe too) A couple things: 1. There's a major error with the Legendary version in the instructions for using TES5Edit to clean the master ESMs. 1 line is missing; you forgot to say to move the cleaned ESMs into the backup folder in overwrite after you copy the backups to the Skyrim\Data folder. It stumped me for a bit but luckily I knew better before renaming the backups and overwriting the cleaned ESMs. Its a small but vital step that newbies will get stumped on and could cause CTDs if skipped. 2. I've been searching for/reading various threads regarding Skyrim Revisited of these forums but I'm confused because various times moderators say to post in the Skyrim Revisited forums for any questions, yet the only link I see to those forums are on the old Skyrim Revisited guide page, and the link points to a page saying the forum is no longer available. If that's the case then where is the best place to post if/when we run into issues? 3. Should I be using the Legendary guide or the old guide, or none at all? Please clarify, because both seem to be "works in progress" and I'm REALLLY trying to avoid wasting dozens of hours following a guide that produces a messed up, unfinished build... thnx
  14. Um err I don't know who told you that but I got it to work just fine using MO.In fact, I have the .EXE of my ENB changer in a totally seperate HD from what my Skyrim install is on, and it works fine. Don't see why it would work as long as you point it to your correct Skyrim directory...
  15. The latest XPMS install works I believe, the only part that's confusing is the when it asks if you use Joy of Perspective mod (which no matter what, you choose No). Other than that it's worked fine for me. Personally, I've watched that youtube video at least a dozen times and honestly it doesn't help a lick. Shouldn't use NMM with STEP anyway so if following STEP I suggest avoiding it, just confuses things more. To the OP: I dunno that sounds weird for the arm to still not work after a fresh install, especially if you're not getting warnings using FNIS. Maybe double check that you have the latest version of all mods...
  16. Hmm I share the OPs opinions as well I'm on my 2nd go round with STEP and....I just don't get it. The main thing I don't get is why certain mods are placed where they are for installation. I always get a Potential Load Order warning in MO, and it's always centered around these mods: -Acquisitive Soul Gems -Follower Trap Safety -Non-Essential Children -Alternate Start/Skyrim Unbound Also, I REALLY didn't understand the part with the "overlapping textures", mainly because I was following the guide to a tee and installing everything considered STEP Core and then some. IMHO that whole section could benefit from a change in the the way the mods are listed, I.E. conflicting texture packs/mods should be listed side-by-side. If anything this simple change in visuals will show the reader that those packs conflict with each other and modders are encouraged to choose only 1
  17. I share your pain bro, this whole past week has been full of re-installs of Dual Sheathe Redux/XP32 Skeleton/Immersive Animations, and I STILL don't have a full grasp of what to select to get the experience I wanted. But, what I have learned are these helpful tips: 1. *My* install order for these to work: Dual Sheathe Redux Realistic Ragdolls and Force XP32 Max Skeleton [replace ragdoll's skeleton with this] Immersive Animations 2. It's not communicated very well on either of the mod pages, but for those who may have been confused like me: -Dual Sheathe Redux has NOTHING to do with sheathing animations, it only governs weapon placement on the character. Therefore, after you install once properly no need to re-install in order to change animations. -With Immersive Animations YOU CAN ONLY CHOOSE ONE STYLE SO YOU NEED TO DECIDE WHAT WEAPON STYLE YOU WILL GO WITH AND PICK ANIMATIONS TO BEST MATCH!! ALSO, NO MATTER WHAT THERE WILL BE VISUAL INCONSISTENCY SOMEWHERE! This can't be overstated! I.E. if you choose the animation for removing swordnshield/dual swords from your back, then just know that EVERY ANIMATION FOR USING 1HSWORD WILL BE THIS ANIMATION (SHIELD OR NO SHIELD) FOR YOUR CHARACTER AS WELL AS NPCS (unless using mods to have custom player animations, of course). 3. I've found the best solution is to dig in and install the files manually for Immersive Animations, just make sure you choose the right options based off what you selected in the XP32 Max Skel install. Also, I've started just making multiple install packs of each so I can activate whichever animations I want. The main problem with the Immersive Animations NMM installer is that it allows you to choose multiple animations that overlap and write over eachother, so best to install using the pack 1st and then follow up with manual selection of the sheathe animations you want. With all that said, it sounds like you just have the wrong 1hm_equip/unequip files being installed. Try manually dragging those files from the dualswordback folder of the install pack, then run FNIS again (of course). Also, verify that those files aren't being overridden by files from another animation mod. I use MO so also have to check that old FNIS behavior files/animations aren't remaining in the Overwrite folder. If they do, any changes you make will be void because they'll load with the wrong behaviors. If you do all of that, you should definitely get it to work how you'd like.
  18. Same as rootsrat, I use it in conjunction with MO. I made same initial universal changes to the .ini files initially, then set them to Read Only then added the Organizer to my MO list and run it through there What I don't fully understand is: if I edit my actual .ini files and then run MO, will the changes I made appear in all my profiles? (I think I proved this to be the case the other night but I forget) Or does MO .ini files completely overwrite the actual .ini files (I don't believe this is the case) And then, whichever the case is, when you run SC via MO, I wonder if SC .ini backups have the .ini edits from the MO profile loaded?
  19. MY GOD MAN YES!!! ADD THIS TO STEP ASAP!!I WAS WONDERING THE SAME THING FROM DAY 1 BUT I DIDN'T ASK BECAUSE I FIGURED IT WASN'T DOABLE. SHOULD'VE BEEN PART OF STEP FROM THE BEGINNING!!
  20. Try using Gopher's tutorial if you're having trouble, it's a lot simpler and straightforward.Everytime you verify the the integrity of game cache thru Steam AFTER cleaning already cleaning the files in TES5Edit STeam will try to redownload the cleaned files, so don't verify after cleaning.
  21. This thread helps a lot. I think I'm gonna go through my textures and optimize them all to no higher than 2X. Jnipz is right in mentioning that 4K textures shouldn't even be listed if the game is inherently programmed to have such a low memory limit...or at least put some sort of warning stating such (since some gamers may want a custom mix of High/Low res textures).
  22. Didn't read through the entire thread but just wanted to post that I was just running Skyrim with 150+ mods and an ENB and everything was fine till I approached Whiterun for the 1st time, then my system slowed to a crawl, (like 5 frames per minute). It didn't crash but was so bad it crippled my computer response (couldn't even CTRL+ALT+DELETE) so I had to eventually switch to desktop and quit. Funny thing was that when I quit Task Manager showed TESV was already over 3.24 GBs
