  1. Is there any way to tell from STEAM ? I can just tell it's a VERY tiny file : 752 bytes. Which one I have not found (I explored the Skyrim files to no avail).
  2. Well, no, it did not work. This is maddening ! The file that keeps being detected as changed by STEAM is the only option left I know of (as it applies only to some distant objects, I am not convinced it could be a hardware problem).
  3. It shows on all settings (I was using Ultra). I have on file that refuses to reacquire : is it normal (I don't think so but I'm not sure) ? That would probably be the source. I have also ruled out Enboost (lines are still there if not activated). And set iPresentInterval back to 0 (it was =1) but it changed nothing.
  4. That's the problem : I launched Skyrim from STEAM, with no mod whatsoever, not even optimized textures (since, folowing the guide, the optimized ones are stored in MO). And the ini has not been modified either. Basic vanilla Skyrim has a problem it did not have in 2013 last time I played.
  5. I just tried Oblivion : nothing. Then Skyrim without the HRDLC. The lines are there, which means I have a problem with distant vanilla textures. Unless the installation bugged, I guess it would be the INIs then.
  6. I turned them to X4 and 0 in the ini but the AF is in fact decided through Nvidia inspector (as advised in the guide : i'm trying to optimize my game by following the rules made by people who clearly know more than I do). But I intend to try an enb to see if it at least improve. I'm still surprised to see it in vanilla however... That being said : good night !
  7. I thought so too : I tried grass and it changed nothing. Not that I see it in vanilla, of course, the other mods are out. z929669 : I'm gonna try that. Have to install Oblivion first (and I'm going to bed, it is almost midnight here) and I'll keep you informed. Thanks to everybody for helping.
  8. That's kind of funny : it is indeed there in Vanilla with the three DLCs and HRDLCs activated. So it does not come from a mod. My inis or a hardware fault I guess.
  9. I had not seen the Camo mammoth and its giant friend ! I should have tought about zooming out of game. I tried TFC in-game to see if I could see those lines from closer if the game stopped loading textures, but didn't work.
  10. Around the crosshair and all between said crosshair and the fort on the right. Subtle, but real and quite annoying during game.
  11. I've been wondering if the optimization with DDSopt could be the source of the problem. I had no clue whatsoever of something gone wrong and I dutifully respected every step but still. Bah, this week-end I wanted to try to install Revisited anyway. I might just as well also try unchecking checking every mod on my extended install, just in case. Especially the "distant" ones.
  12. DoubleYou : I just tried your settings, but it did not work. It's hard to be sure but the effect almost looks worse (more visible) when moving the sight horizontally. It does not flicker but nearly. I tried better but STEAM takes pretty crappy pics and the faded colors of Skyrim do not help. There is a tower in the distance, in the center of the pic. Right under it, slightly on the right is a zone where the lines can be seen (if you have good eyes, I'll admit).
  13. I doubt it as it clearly concerns grass and snow in the distance only. Not rocks, not trees, not water or sky. On the second pic, try looking around the crosshair : it is all around there. I'll try uploading something better.
  14. Oh and it also does it on the snow by the way : had not tested it yet, tis done.
  15. I thought so too (with my not so good skills in modding). I tried reinstalling all the "distant something" mods in case I had done something wrong with the LOD affecting mods (but with the same settings) and I did not mess with any lod setting in the inis I think (I followed the guide to the letter except for one or to textures for items, which is pretty much unlikely to be the cause..). I was thinking that, as I intend to install an enb anyway, the depth of field effect could hide the problem almost completely. Unless the enb is unhappy too about the bug. But I'd rather have no bug at all.
  16. I have seven (the vanilla textures packs, as advised in the guide) : STD, hearthfires, dawnguard, dragonlord, HLRDC 1, 2 and 3. PS : I have just reported your answer with the content of this reply. Wrong button : sorry to the moderator for this, I keep reading reply.
  17. I just tried and to no avail alas ! Damn horizontal lines are still there ! Even if this is not linked to this problem, the fact I have iShadowMapResolutionPrimary=2048 in both inis is probably not good, is it ?
  18. My AA setting has been done according to the STEP guide too : 4X, iMultiSample=4 in the ini file and in Nvidia inspector : Set Antialiasing - Mode to "Application-controlled". Set Antialiasing - Setting to "Application-controlled / Off" fInteriorShadowDistance=3000.0000 fShadowDistance=8000 fShadowLODStartFade=200.0000 fShadowBiasScale=0.15 iBlurDeferredShadowMask=3 iShadowMapResolution=4096 iShadowMapResolutionPrimary=2048 (though I've discovered I have this one in both ini (display) and pref.ini (general)) iShadowMapResolutionSecondary=1024 (in pref.ini) iShadowSplitCount=2 iShadowFilter=3 iShadowMode=3 iShadowMaskQuarter=4 bTreesReceiveShadows=1 bDrawLandShadows=1 bShadowMaskZPrepass=0 bShadowsOnGrass=1 bDeferredShadows=1 bDrawShadows=1
  19. I set iMaxAnisotropy = 0 in skyrim pref ini as stated in the guide and then used NVidia Inspector (having a GTX760) to set "user defined / off" and 16X as advised in the guide.
  20. Hi, I have installed my STEP extended but I keep looking at all those marvelous mods included in the packs (Frostfall, CWO, Immersive patrols, Requiem and so on...). I know many packs (if not all) are compatible with STEP Core and Extended or even Revisited (which I want to try). And I know many can work together, as said in their description. But I am not a sensible man : is Extended (or revisited) + 3 or 4 packs even possible (let's say Modular Morrowloot overhaul or Requiem + REGS + Weather + War Ensemble) ? Or am I being far too optimistic ? Please, don't make me cry. If possible in theory, has anyone made it and if yes again, what kind of rig could be used to achieve that ? I am under the impression that the Requiem pack would be a nightmare to use in such conditions (this mod just seems to need patches for EVERYTHING !).
  21. Thanks for the shadow striping : problem solved with a fix found on the Nexus. But, as suspected, this was a second problem : the strange horizontal lines far away remain.
  22. Hi, Yes it is : in fact as you install several mods changing the same things (the road textures for instance), you will have such "conflicts". The last mod installed in Mod organizer wins and therefore you'll see its textures (or maps, meshes, rules...). Mod Organizer gives you precious information : you can check if a new mod has any effect on another, you can hide a texture (or anything else) in any mod so that it won't show up...
  23. Hi, I have completed the STEP Extended and I have, as far as I know respected every advice and order given and my game is running quite smoothly (it uses the full 2gb on my GTX 760 graphic card but I guess it is normal), apart from on slight problem. I have not added anything yet to it (no Enb for instance). As shown here : or here : It does not appear to be visible on rocks or trees or water. Only ground (or grass maybe ?). I think this is unrelated but I see kind of lines too on people with dark skin : and Fair Skinned people do not have this problem (or it is not visible). Anyone has any idea what the problem might be ?
  24. I just did the upgrade from Core to Extended, which was not that complicated. And I am clearly no IT genius (far from it). The game seems stable (apart from one tiny -but annoying- bug with slightly visible horizontal lines on the really far landscape, strange...). I still believe though that the STEP guide could be made clearer on this very point (the distinction between core and extended) by adding a bright red to extended (where the green in for core). That would be more visible to people like me who read the introduction and then forget. ::
