Merge Plugin Hide was added to the guide fairly recently (January 14th update I think). The link to it is in the pre-requisites section and I show the installing of it in this video (around the 2 minute mark) https://youtu.be/8Pc9rROe5SU Once installed you can access it in MO via the puzzle icon at the top. I also recently released a 2 part video (around an hour long per video) showing all of the merges done with zEdit now.

When you did the merges did you use the Merge Plugin Hide tool to hide the esps that got merged? Or did you just uncheck them on the right pane? If just unchecked LOOT will still see them so they need to be either hidden or moved to optional. This can be done manually or with the aforementioned tool.

Oh. My. God. When I saw this my first thought was: Yeah I saw the notice and downloaded 40. I very specifically remember doing that. But in the interest of being thorough I went to check. Yep it's 44. Facepalm. Deleting the current stuff and downloading the version 40. Will let you know if that helps. Thanks, If no one had asked I'd have gone on assuming I was using the correct version.

OK I finally figured out what was causing my CTDs. Of all things it was Relinker. After redoing the finish line section I was still getting crashes so I started disabling the various things from that section 1 at at time starting with the last step and working backward. Once I disabled the files from Relinker output I was able to get to the menu with everything else active. Not sure where to go from here though. Running Relinker again doesn't seem to fix it.

An update on my CTD issue. After getting it to load last night by removing Obsidian's esp from the merge, I tried rebuilding the merge with a freshly downloaded copy of obsidian and got the crashes again. My previous fix of removing obsidian from the merge didn't seem to work this time. I tried various things but to no avail. I was convinced it had to be the weather system merge but then I tried disabling everything that I did during final step, bash patch, zpatch, smash patch, even dyndolod and lodgen stuff and re-enabled the esps that were disabled by bash patch. Basically resetting to the point right before the finish line. And to my surprise it's able to load with the merge patch and all. So now I come to the conclusion that I must have screwed up somewhere in the finish line and caused some sort of conflict between the merge and one of the files generated during that section. I'm going to try and start the finish line section over and see if I can get it right this time.

Redid everything and still got a crash. Then on a hunch, I removed Obsidian Weathers.esp from the weather merge and reactivated it in the left pane as a standalone mod (since that's the only file that changed in the merge between when it was working and when it stopped working). Success! That actually worked and I am able to get to the menu with everything loaded. Either I did something wrong with the merge (both times) or something in the update doesn't like being merged. If I'm the only one with this problem then it's probably on my end somewhere though.

I think I figured out what I did wrong (well one thing I did wrong, since I'm pretty sure I didn't remove the old one the first time) but I was just about to try rebuilding it when I realized I didn't extract the BSA when I did the update to Obsidian. Just rebuilt it (removed the old one first this time as well). I still need to re-do the smash patch as well though right?

Well, it seems I spoke too soon. I'm getting CTD before the main menu. I suck at troubleshooting but I think I've narrowed it down to the Weather Systems Merge (which I rebuilt after the latest update). If I uncheck that (which also means unchecking Lexy's LotD Conflict Resolution.esp and the Smash Patch) I can get to the menu. I'm certain it's the merge though since I tried unchecking the smash by itself, and unchecking the conflict resoltion+Smash and both times still crash. After I rebuild the merge, do I just need to re do the smash patch? Or should I redo the entire finish line section? I also tried sorting the masters again (since I don't think I did that after I updated) but that didn't fix the crash.

Just popping in here to announce my video series on installing the guide in it's entirety has finally been fully uploaded. 24 videos, approximately 14 hours total length. Still one more to do covering the prerequisites section but other than that everything should be covered. I'd also like to thank those who've come to watch the videos, and the ones who've left positive comments about the series. And Lexy for catching my numerous mistakes If anyone wants to see the guide in action I'll be starting a Let's Play in the next few days as well.
