  1. Thank you very much for the reply and the link. I will check out the potential solutions mentioned there and see if it fixes my problem, however, the 'folder in use' error was not mentioned on that thread and receiving that error seems to be the cause for me. In fact, I've only had Wrye Bash completely disable and rearrange all my esps once, but I've received the 'folder in use' error ten times in the past three days. For me, that's a bigger cause for concern because I can just rearrange the esps to their proper load order again even if it is a little time-consuming, but I don't know what negative impact, if any, the 'folder in use' error is having on my game and it's stability. Do you have some suggestions or advice regarding that error? As I said, I found a couple posts that mention it, but only when using the installers tab and I only experience it when building a bashed patch.
  2. Hi everyone, I've been experiencing an extremely frustrating issue with Wrye Bash lately and I'm concerned about it having a potentially negative impact on my game's stability. I do use Mod Organizer and launch Wrye Bash from it and have for quite a while, but this problem has only surfaced in the past couple days. After clicking rebuild patch, it's at least a fifty-percent chance that I'm going to receive an error message saying 'can't move files to data folder, folder is in use or being used by another program'. That's not verbatim, but that's the gist. I goggled this error and found multiple posts on it, however, every poster said that they received this message when installing mods via Wrye Bash's installers tab. I couldn't find any posts that mentioned it occurring while trying to create a bashed patch or rather at the end of rebuilding the bashed patch. My Skyrim data folder is not in use at that time, nor should it be in use since I'm using MO which uses a virtual directory, leaving my Skyrim data folder completely untouched. I haven't the slightest clue why Wrye Bash seems to be attempting to move the files to the data folder in the first place while rebuilding the patch, but it also seems like every time it tries to access the data folder I receive the aforementioned error and when it doesn't the bashed patch is rebuilt fine. I'm not sure that makes any sense, but the reason I say that is because if it is attempting to move the files every time I rebuild the patch then, in theory, when I don't receive the error it was able to move the files fine and yet, as I said, my Skyrim data folder remains untouched with no new mods, folders, or esp files. Sometimes after launching Wrye Bash from MO again to make another attempt I'm able to rebuild the patch without error, but there are other times that not only do I receive that error which gives me the option to try moving the files again or cancel, but that when I click cancel - try again does absolutely nothing - that Wrye Bash has deactivated all of my mods and reorganized all of them. I don't have Auto-Ghost enabled, by the way. It's unticked. I even downloaded the latest version of Wrye Bash to make sure that I have the latest one and completely uninstalled the old version before installing the new one, but the problem still persists. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. If this problem has been asked about, answered, and solved somewhere else then I do apologize, but I wasn't able to find it and I really need some help with this.
  3. Thank you both for the replies. I really appreciate it. First, I'll download the NCC downgrade and report back if that fixes the problem. I'm 99% certain that I have the latest version of Microsoft Visual, but I will download that as well to be sure. However, with the broken version of ncc likely being the culprit then I have another question, if that's alright. Since the ncc is broken in the latest version then it stands to reason that every single mod I installed with the external installer in the latest version wouldn't have installed properly as well. And yet I only received an error with Extended Character Edit. Does that mean the other mods installed fine despite the ncc being broken or do you recommend reinstalling all the external installer mods with the downgraded ncc just to be on the safe side and avoid a potentially broken game down the line? Update: I installed the downgraded ncc and was able to install Enhanced Character Edit without an error from either Mod Organizer or Wrye Bash, but now other mods that use the external installer that I was going to reinstall to be sure they installed properly aren't installing at all. With those, I'm getting an error from MO saying the mod was not found. I can't say for sure, but it does seem like the only mod that didn't install properly with the broken ncc was Enhanced Character Edit and all the others installed fine such as Realistic Room Rental Enhanced which uses an external installer, appeared to install fine with the broken ncc, and the MCM menu for it shows up fine with all the options intact. There must just be something about ECE that doesn't play well with the broken ncc.
  4. Hi everyone, I'm not entirely sure this is the correct thread to post this in. If it isn't, I apologize. However, according to the Wrye Bash page they don't offer support if Wrye Bash is being used with Mod Organizer which I respect, but because of that I'm not sure where else to go. This is the only problem, for now, that I'm currently experiencing in an otherwise stable Skyrim setup. When I launch Wrye Bash from Mod Organizer's list of executables Wrye Bash loads up fine as does every mod except for Enhanced Character Edit. At Wrye Bash's start-up, I receive a pop-up warning labeled 'corrupted headers' and in the box is CharacterMakingExtender.esp. It tells me that this mods header is corrupted. And I have absolutely no idea what that means. Tonight is the first time I've received this error on any Wrye Bash version and with any mod. I haven't changed my ini-tweaks between the time that Wrye Bash would load ECE fine and between it apparently being corrupted. Although my ini-tweaks are essentially vanilla with only a couple very minor tweaks. I began receiving the error with Wrye Bash version 304 and the error still continues when I updated to version 304.3 in an effort to fix this error. I have downloaded ECE multiple times tonight to make sure that it downloaded completely and wasn't corrupt. The download itself isn't corrupt. It's fine and Mod Organizer is able to install it without error. The esp shows up fine when launching BOSS and BOSS gives no error or warning with it. However, I'm unsure if this is how it's supposed to be, but the ECE folder in MO's virtual directory shows up with only the esp, not the textures, meshes, scripts, or interface folders. And they aren't showing up MO's overwrite folder either. However, the external installer that ECE uses worked flawlessly, let me choose all the options I wanted, and then I received a notification saying the mod was successfully installed. I have the SKSE plugins in the proper folder as well. With ECE being marked as corrupt by Wrye Bash the esp doesn't show up in Wrye Bash at all so I'm unable to see any further details about the error aside from it being a corrupted header. I have also goggled this problem and have found a couple threads with people experiencing the same or similar issue, but they either didn't receive any answers or solutions, didn't list the solution they eventually figured out themselves, or the solution was to upgrade to the latest version of Bash which I already did, but to no avail. My Skyrim is a legal copy that I bought at Best Buy a long time ago. I have the latest Skyrim patch as well as the latest Unofficial Patches. I have only just started a new game with few mods installed so there are no left behind scripts or bloat. I do use a mostly S.T.E.P build with a couple variations, mainly with armor and weapon mods. I'd really appreciate any help or advice that can be given with this as I'm currently unable to play since I can't edit my character. Thank you all in advance.
  5. Thank you so much. It's running now and seems to be running perfectly. I'll update when it's finished. But so far so good. Thank you again. You saved me a lot of frustration, headache, and time.Â
  6. Thank you very much. I really appreciate it. And I look forward to your findings. Hopefully, wherever the problem lies, whichever end its on, it will be a simple, easy fix.
  7. Thank you for your replies. I apologize for not responding sooner, had a small power outage where I live so no internet for awhile. Anyway, I somehow managed to get the pre-optimization batch file working. I honestly have no idea how. I just kept moving the directory around and eventually it took and ran flawlessly. According to the DDSopt guide, the correct folders were created and and everything that was supposed to be in them after the batch file ran was. Had no problem optimizing them, thankfully. However, now I'm having trouble with the mod_sorting_pre_optimization batch file. I seem to have bad luck with these. If I don't run it as an administrator [i'm aware you have to run it as an administrator, its just for comparison], the command box shows up, there are a couple lines about the directory, and then below it tells me I have to run it as an administrator. If I run it as an administrator, a black box flashes for the very briefest of seconds and then nothing. I find it odd that when I run it the right way, as an administrator, it essentially doesn't show up at all and when I run it the wrong way it at least shows up. Like before, I have tried moving the directory since that fixed my problem with the other batch file, but it didn't fix this problem. I feel like I must be creating the directory wrong, but I followed the instructions in the DDSopt guide. In my HDD, I created a folder called Skyrim Directory, in that folder, I created the Mod Extracted folder and inside that are all the folders containing various texture mods I want to optimize. The extracted bash files are in the Skyrim Directory folder. Here is a screenshot of the directory:
  8. So tonight I'm using DDSopt for the first time. I was using optimizer texture before, but I really want to make sure everything is done right in regards to Skyrim, creating as stable a game as possible, and DDSopt gives me the extra control and options needed to do that. Regardless, I've spent the afternoon reading the guide and am now attempting to actually use the program. However, I've run into a problem with the batch files and I can't, for the life of me, figure out what I'm doing wrong. I have the extracted vanilla textures in the proper folders and proper structure: - working directory  - vanilla extracted  -Dawnguard  -Dragonborn  -Hearthfire  -STD I extracted only the textures from the dlc's bsa's as that was recommended in the guide over extracting everything such as the scripts that are also included in the bsa's. And I extracted them using DDSopt, also following the guide for that. I extracted all the batch files from the most recent download link into the 'working directory'. Then I tried to run the '2_Pre-Optimization.bat' batch file which is supposed to take awhile and is also supposed to create four new folders, none of which should be empty. I ran it as an administrator, pressed a random key to continue like it says, but it finishes in all of two seconds, not remotely long at all. It creates the four correct folders, however, during the most recent time I tried it, two of the folders are empty, one has the correct data in it, and the other has 2 of the correct folders in it and is missing the other two. Every time that I run it, I get a different result with the four folders it creates. Sometimes 3 of them are empty, sometimes only one, sometimes two of them have the correct information inside. It varies every time, but it is never totally correct. I have read and re-read the guide regarding this particular part. I have deleted all the batch files, downloaded and extracted them again, created a brand new working directory and moved all the vanilla extracted textures over to it, I have have tried the working directory on both of my external hard drives as I don't have enough free space on my SSD, and it still isn't giving me the correct result. Everything else with DDSopt is going smooth except for this. I did find another thread on this forum where someone had the same or similar problem, but they updated their post saying that they figured out the problem themselves and listed no solution so I'm at a complete loss. I know it's something that I'm doing wrong on my end or am missing, but like I said, I just can't figure it out. Perhaps I have just been re-reading the guide so many times that it's all blurring together and that's why I'm unable to determine the solution. Regardless, I would really appreciate any help or advice on this issue that I'm having that anyone could offer me. I'm sure it's something simple and I'll feel like an idiot once someone points it out. Anyway, thank you in advance.Â
