yeah using freecam to illustrate wasn't necessarily the best idea, but it *is* very noticeable in normal gameplay and especially on horse back, where I see the shadows pop in very close and it makes areas look off with barely any visibility, namely in caves and dungeons. It appears like my values were off though, and changing that seems to do the trick. I'll update when I'm in a dungeon, thanks a lot

Hello, I've just noticed (and it's now the only thing I can see) that buildings, rocks, and whatnot only seem to gain a shadow when I approach them from pretty close. Attached are two screenshots (taken in free cam but the exact same applies) where you can clearly see that the shadows disappear while I'm still quite close to the elements, making it pretty distracting. I setup the view distances and everything according to the STEP guide, do let me know if I need to upload my .ini files or my modlist.

After having set level32=1 and remade all the LODs, I can now say that it was this single line that cause me problems ahah Thanks a lot for answering me !

Thank you for the insight. I reinstalled ACMOS to check if I had followed all the correct installation instructions and I did. I had set level32=1 in the settings but not uLockedObjectMapLOD=32 . In doing this nothing changed with the LODs, should I regenerate them after having done so ? EDIT : ACMOS looks really bad, there's no LODs on it. Could be a clue ?

Here are my logs. https://ufile.io/yd4sjhpj I couldn't see any meaningful errors.

I ended up disabling the varied dynDOLOD outputs which helped with the trees LOD but not with the rocks, those got a normal appearance again after I used tll. Sorry if I missed something obvious, I'm not sure I get all of this. Should I just delete the LODs and generate them again ?
-
I just realised that it also applies to rocks. The rocks in my immediate vicinity when I load in look fine and so do the trees, but everything further away from me looks this way and stays the same. I believe it means that the LODs aren't unloading ?

Hello, I am coming back to Skyrim after modding it back in June and then not playing at all, so I don't quite remember what is going on. I started a new save and while walking around I can see trees flickering between what seems to be two models, and it's pretty distracting. Linked is my Skyrim.ini, let me know if I need to provide more context. Skyrim.ini

Mod recommendation : Sound Fix for Large Sector Drives
Enla replied to Enla's topic in Step Skyrim SE Guide
I did post about sound issues recently but that was in an unrelated thread I made, though i think it could be a great addition as I spent more than a week searching for an answer and I tried many inconclusive fixes before finally stumbling on it. I'm aware most people are using 512 bytes cluster size and MBR drives, but Skyrim seems to have issues with anything differing from that. My drives are in GPT as it would otherwise cause bootloading issues when I use Linux. After double checking, my cluster size is 512, but in MBR. It seems like this mod could benefit more people than I first thought ? I don't think so, just that your transfers might be slower than using 512 or 4096 ? -
Hello, as some people might know Skyrim can be scuffed when it comes to audio, and particularly the player sfx. This often stems from one main thing : The hard drive on which Skyrim is installed is not formatted with the proper sector size. Since the game was released on Windows 7, the only sector size possible was 512 bytes. Now it can go up to 4096, which can make Skyrim fail to read many of the audio files. After this issue drove me insane for quite a bit I finally found a mod that fixes it : https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/71567 It seems like it does not cause any issues with the STEP guide, but I think it could be wise if it were to be tested by other people as well.

Skyrim CTD right after being done with the STEP guide
Enla replied to Enla's topic in Step Skyrim SE Guide
Yeah that's a relief at least, and from what I see the issue stems from the game not running from my C: drive, or an MBR drive. Issue is, none of my drives are MBR and it doesn't work on my C drive eitherahah -
Skyrim CTD right after being done with the STEP guide
Enla replied to Enla's topic in Step Skyrim SE Guide
I managed to fix the issue as there was a single creation club mod that refused to install when pressing download all. Now I have generated LOD and everything, but my character lacks any SFX. I'm pretty sure this is an entirely new problem but I'm not sure I should make a new thread about it ? By no SFX I mean no grunts/pants when hit, no noise when I hit enemies (but the NPCs seem to make the sounds when hitting enemies) and no noise for several things like that. It's honestly really confusing. -
Skyrim CTD right after being done with the STEP guide
Enla replied to Enla's topic in Step Skyrim SE Guide
The smoke test passed normally. I'm running 1170 yes, no downgrade. I do have all of the CC content downloaded with the "Download All" button, which might somehow have missed one ? Though unlikely I believe I did, I followed the instructions in the guide at least. Is there more to do ? I don't think it matters as I can't get past the BGS logo, but I was planning on testing with a fresh save I did follow it exactly as far as I know, if I've missed anything it's purely by accident. I'm not using any other mod. -
Hello, I've been following STEP as well as I could have, but I keep getting crashes at the bethesda splash screen, or when trying to load "trampoline.h" for Engine Fixes. Here are two crash logs, that I don't really understand to be fair lol https://pastebin.com/1Y1cHD09 https://pastebin.com/06mbcrQQ
