  1. Hi, I recently finished the guide and during last stress test I randomly encountered naked NCR Troops. It's rare but it's still bothering me. So far those NPC's did not have any wearable armor apart from helmets. Resurrecting them through console fixes the problem. There is a message like: 'NCR Trooper picked package Sandbox (Patrol, Follower, etc.)'. Sometimes they still do not receive proper equipment - it requires at most 2 tries to get it done though. The problem started to occur once I installed NCR Overhaul Beta + Distributed among other mods like ADAM. I have 112 active plugins. I didn't install all of the mods but I made sure to install patches and stuff.
  2. I'm using STEP Core 2.2.9 without STEP Patches because I use additional mods. I'm using MO. On the detailed description of Even Better Quest Objectives it says that I should install The Paarthurnax Dilemma patch to make it compatible. Done. Then I sticked to all of meta rules for LOOT in STEP and now in plugins The Paarthurnax Dilemma is sorted after Better Quest Objectives. I also sticked to order of installation like in the STEP guide. What confuses me: Wrye Bash says that The Paarthurnax Dilemma should be sorted before Better Quest Objectives. You can see it in the masters tab. I'm afraid it may cause issues later on. Can someone clarify that?
  3. Thanks, now I get it. BTW you people are very quick to respond. Awesome support :)
  4. Hi, The guide is somewhat confusing for me when it comes to optimizing Vanilla game. I have already performed optimization of the 7 BSA files. I used Wrye Bash and extraced/installed them as loose files. The guide says that i should leave the original DLC BSA where they were. Doesn't that mean that I now have BSA's that contain both textures and other stuff AND same textures extracted as loose files (DLC part of them)? Will the game use optimized textures or BSA one's? I imagine it will use the optimized version of textures but: a) I want to be sure. b) I want to know what is the reason in keeping duplication of some textures (if I understand it correctly). Cheers
  5. Hi, I have gone through the whole STEP. Everything was fine up to this point. I added a few additional mods: alternative start, character creation overhaul, ACE, Achieve that and basic needs. I started the game and discovered that my mouse won't move vertically. It moves when I'm in any kind of menu, but when running around i just can't look up nor down. I have no idea how to fix it, google wasn't much of a help. The second problem was the ILS when trying to load the game. Memory was around 2GB, VRAM ~350MB and not going higher. I've deleted whole [MapMenu] entry from skyrim.ini (googled it) and guess what? No ILS. It is actually a pretty ridicolous solution if you ask me. Is it good to leave it as it is? Or should i add certain parts of MapMenu? Below is what it looked like: [MapMenu] uLockedObjectMapLOD=8 uLockedTerrainLOD=8 fMapWorldMaxHeight=150000.0000 fMapWorldMinHeight=1500.0000 fMapWorldZoomSpeed=0.0800 That's it. Apart from this game seems to work very smoothly. I haven't benchmarked it yet. Cheers
  6. Many thanks, now everything is clear. I think I will just leave GL at 5 and keep testing new mods in the same test area (until/unless i get CTD again). It's very covenient since it's always the same. Once I'm done with all the steps I will add mod that lets you start at alternative location. And of course set GL to 7 if it will be stable. I have one more question though: are there any more specific locations (apart from Helgen) where it is advised to turn all mods off? I imagine that if I would experience CTD I'd just turn them off but knowing those locations would tell me if there is a problem with that particluar location I'm in or my game is unstable/hate me/something. Thanks again for reply! Really nice to see my post setup being appreciated :)
  7. Hi, Post is divided into 3 parts. Intro + results of benchmarking.Changing uGridsToLoad to 5 and avoiding CTD. Explanation needed.System specs, load order etc.I am following STEP guide and currently i just finished step 2.F - Conflicting graphics. Up to this point i didn't receive any CTD's. I tested my game everytime I finished one of the steps. Test area is the same as in the guide. CTD is happening when I'm passing the gate ("general Tuli..."NOPE! CTD). Moreover I the prison carts were moving differently. It's like they were bouncing on invisible rocks sometimes. Bouncing pretty heavily to the sides. It was a fluent animation, it's just I am sure there was no rocks on the road. Anyway here are the results (GL - uGridsToLoad): Benchmark - ultra + GL 7 + mod ready + optimized Vanilla:       Memory Used [MB]    GPU Load [%]    FPS AVG   816,76             74,38          48,46 STD   49,69              13,32          6,71 Benchmark - ultra + GL 7 + optimized Vanilla + fixes + interfaces:       Memory Used [MB]    GPU Load [%]    FPS AVG    843,33            72,77          46,78 STD    49,06             13,1           6,98 Benchmark - ultra + GL 7 + optimized Vanilla + fixes + interfaces + conflicting_graphics:       Memory Used [MB]    GPU Load [%]   FPS AVG    1410,27           79,66         45,5 STD    73,87             12,32         6,5 And here i experienced CTD. I did some research and checked if I exceed the limit of 3.1 GB RAM using Skyrim Performance Monitor. Results: Nothing fancy, it was ~2000 MB and lower. I decided not to use ENBoost just yet, since it's apparently not needed. At this point i changed GL to the value of 5 (and this other related value to 32 - exteriorBuffer something, I don't remember right now). Results: No CTD. The thing is - VRAM usage went down like 100 MB, so did RAM. I honestly do not understand it. Values seems more than alright. Could someone explain it? I understand that i can leave it at 5 through Helgen playthrough and then change it to 7 and do some more testing but still I would like an explanation. Didn't test it with default but I don't think it would change anything. That's about it. Cheers
  8. Many thanks, it works like a charm! I am getting a CTD now, but it's a story for a different thread. Thanks again :)
  9. Hi, I am currently at step 2.F Conflicting Graphics. Up to this point I was doing fairly well. Game works :) Right now i would like to perform optimization of dowloaded mods, just like here: https://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:DDSopt_%26_Texture_Overhauls#tab=Optimizing_the_STEP_Mods. My question: how do i differ types of textures? I mean there are 5 presets of constraint settings that apply to different textures but i do not know which textures should be optimized with which preset. Example: Tangent-space normal-maps (files ending in _n.dds). OK I get it - normal maps, preset 4. But what about .nif? Or .dds? Are those Ordinary non-exterior textures, Ordinary Exterior Textures or something completly different? Could someone point me in the right direction or explain to me how it works? I experimented a little bit and used 4_Mod_Sorting&Pre-optimization batch file for Ruins Clutter Improved. Now i have mod normal maps, mod optimized, mod ordinary textures. And from here i don't know what should i optimize (i assume i should leave mod optimized alone but it's more like "It says optimized so..." - I'd rather have someone confirmed it). Tl;dr. What preset should i use for .xxx texture. Please include extended version (site says only about _n.dds and _msn.dds - i need intel about .nif, .dds and probably other types as well that gonna come up). BTW Great Guide, really helpful. Saved me hours of struggle for sure. Cheers (or something - sorry about my english)
