Thanks, Sheson! I redid the whole procedure and everything seems to be working fine so far. It appears I had been installing everything right before, except for two things: 1) I didn't know if I needed to run TexGen, so I didn't (now I did). 2) I noticed MO reported a LODGen crash at some point during my first generation and I somehow missed that (I left it running overnight). Looks like one of those things (#2 is my guess) caused the problems in my previous post. -

1) Using MO, if I have a bunch of texture packs installed (Serious HD, Skyrim HD, aMidianBorn, Visible Windows, etc), should I place DynDOLOD's data (esp + meshes + textues) in Priority tab to override them or to be overridden by them? It has around 100 conflicts with other mods. 2) Do I need to run TexGen? I read instructions and watched GamerPoets video and can't remember any mention of it. 3) Does running either of DynDOLOD TES5Edit scripts replace any of the meshes/textures in other mods? The reason for all these questions is that I'd placed DynDOLOD right after HighRes Texture pack in Priority, ran TES5Edit Worlds script, started a new game and ended up with flickering textures all over the place - ground, rocks, ore veins, snow overlay, etc.. After that, I saved inside a vanilla inn, quit, removed DynDOLOD, loaded save, saved again, reloaded game, loaded last save: textures that were flickering weren't flickering anymore, but I got blue textures on many distant objects instead - mostly rocks and ice. I've been using SDO+Skyfalls+Skymills for a long time before this and haven't had any issues, so the problem seems to lie in my confusion about the right DynDOLOD installation, not my game's setup. PS: Actually, do I even need to generate anything if I don't use or care about seeing mod-added places? If I use the pre-generated DynDOLOD "showcases" from its download page, will its textures clash/look odd with texture packs I mentioned above? -

Success! Turns out, the visual glitches I was experiencing weren't caused by disabling VSync/iPresentInterval, but by a mod (boy, do I feel dumb). And since Windows (7) Aero applies its own VSync on windowed Skyrim, there is no screen tearing... and no lag! Aww yisss! :: -

I've read other threads here on this, but nothing I've found helped. 1) This isn't an FPS issue. has 8GB of RAM and my AMD video card has 4GB of VRAM. Memory numbers in enblocal.ini are ones from 'AMD>4GB or greater' folder that comes with ENBoost. 4) I have no custom settings for Skyrim in the video driver (Catalyst 15.7 WHQL). I set everything through game's and ENB INIs. 5) I tried adding 'bMouseAcceleration=0' to [Controls] in SkyrimPrefs.ini in case of a miracle, but as STEP guide says, that setting did nothing. 6) Either of these settings removes lag completely (the difference is night and day), but also produces various and very obvious visual glitches everywhere (characters' eyes and fog disappearing/reappearing on camera turn, distant objects being visible through terrain, etc): - iPresentInterval=0 in Skyrim.ini - EnableVSync=false in enblocal.ini ^ I was wrong about #6. The glitches were caused by a mod, and I forgot all about it while tearing my hair out trying to solve this. That's all I can think of right now. I would guess the problem lies in VSync, but it seems I can't disable it without issues, even if I wanted to (I wouldn't). So, any ideas? -
BSAopt compression and data read time

Here's what I'm wondering: does data compressed with maximum (10) level of compression also take a similarly longer time to be read by the game than data compressed with level 1? Or is there no difference in read time? I'm just thinking that, since level 1 already offers significant space reduction and is super fast, is it worth the huge time spent compressing with level 10?
