What's New
Version 1.2.0 of the official STEP Fallout: New Vegas guide focuses on animations, sounds and weather and lighting effects, made possible thanks to the advancement in scripting.
- 1. Animations: The kNVSE plugin has started a revolution in combat animation; animation packs of dedcated animations for firearms, unarmed and melee weapons were added.
- 2. Weapon and explosion sounds are enhanced with mods that utilize scripts for better compatibility.
- 3. Various lighting fixes, better looking moon at night and dust effects in the distance.
- 4. Mods that "add" content reduced in favour of cut content restoration.

02-Extenders
03-Resources
- Added
- ISControl Enabler and Ironsights adjuster (now ESPless): Simply has more functions than Iscontroller.
- Dropped / Replaced
- Iscontroller: See above
04-Foundation
- Added
- New Vegas Mesh Improvement Mod - NVMIM: a relatively new mod. Fixes almost every mesh in the game and is lihter than Collision Meshes. One day will replace Collision Meshes Entirely.
- Fallout 3 Weapons Iron Sight -Modders Resource- V1dot3: required by the next mod on this list.
- Fallout 3 Weapons Restoration: a simple restoration of Fallout 3 weapons to the game. The assets were already present, just unused. Not as ham-fisted as Project Nevada - Equpment Standalone.
- Moved
- Asterra's Many Fixes: technically moved here from 09 - Fixes late during v. 1.1.0 of the guide, but in case it wasn't noticed. It's fine for this to be overwritten.
Updated | mod instructions updated
- Asterra's Many Fixes: no need to hide folders anymore.
- Dropped / Replaced
- Project Nevada: it was a great mod for its time, but is too outdated. There are better mods out there that do the same thing.
05-Animation & Physics
- Dropped / Replaced
- 360 Movement: it is a bit too much for the engine to handle. Requires heavy patching to work with animation mods and at present, does not support all possible locomotion animations. There's no first person support for some of the animations. Other animations work only for a specific gender. It's easier to simply drop it for now.
- Added
- A lot of dedicated weapon animations:
06-Models & Textures
- Added
- Dropped / Replaced
- Project Nevada - Equipment Standalone: Replaced by Fallout 3 Weapons Restoration. It's closer to the STEP Mandate and better implemented.
