NOTE
Changes to the live guide can occur at any time between releases (see page footer for last edited timestamp), so review this changelog to see what may have changed since your 1.2.0 build date.Post-Release Changes
What's New
Version 1.2.0 of the official STEP Fallout: New Vegas guide focuses on animations, sounds and weather and lighting effects, made possible thanks to the advancement in scripting.
- 1. Animations: The kNVSE plugin has started a revolution in combat animation; animation packs of dedcated animations for firearms, unarmed and melee weapons were added.
- 2. Weapon and explosion sounds are enhanced with mods that utilize scripts for better compatibility.
- 3. Various lighting fixes, better looking moon at night and dust effects in the distance.
- 4. Mods that "add" content reduced in favour of cut content restoration.
An in-depth changelog is listed below.
Changelog Format
The changelog format has been modified to improve readability, group like-changes together, and include more information about changes made. We hope these updates will help to improve workflow when updating to a new version.
Step Patches
Also see the forum topic.
Step Patch - Conflict Resolution The main conflict resolution patch is required for the intended mod build to function properly. Mods on which the CR patch depends are indicated by a vertical green bar to the left of the mod name in ModGroup tables.

01-Tools
02-Extenders
03-Resources
- Added
- ISControl Enabler and Ironsights adjuster (now ESPless): Simply has more functions than Iscontroller.
- Dropped / Replaced
- Iscontroller: See above
04-Foundation
- Added
- New Vegas Mesh Improvement Mod - NVMIM: a relatively new mod. Fixes almost every mesh in the game and is lihter than Collision Meshes. One day will replace Collision Meshes entirely.
- Fallout 3 Weapons Iron Sight -Modders Resource- V1dot3: required by the next mod on this list.
- Fallout 3 Weapons Restoration: a simple restoration of Fallout 3 weapons to the game. The assets were already present, just unused. Not as ham-fisted as Project Nevada - Equpment Standalone.
- Moved
- Asterra's Many Fixes: technically moved here from 09 - Fixes late during v. 1.1.0 of the guide, but in case it wasn't noticed. It's fine for this to be overwritten.
Updated | mod instructions updated
- Asterra's Many Fixes: no need to hide folders anymore.
- Dropped / Replaced
- Project Nevada: it was a great mod for its time, but is too outdated. There are better mods out there that do the same thing.
05-Animation & Physics
- Added
- A lot of dedicated weapon animations:
- Dropped / Replaced
- 360 Movement: it is a bit too much for the engine to handle. Requires heavy patching to work with animation mods and at present, does not support all possible locomotion animations. There's no first person support for some of the animations. Other animations work only for a specific gender. It's easier to simply drop it for now.
06-Models & Textures
- Added
- Accurate NASA Stars: realistic looking
- HD Moon 2K - NASA Satellite Images: High-quality textures
- Decayed Ghost People - Fixed: - a fixed version of Decayed Ghost People
- ETJ Realistic Enhanced Blood Textures: fixes some mesh issues with blood textures of Enhanced Blood Textures (see below)
- Elegant Lockpick Retexture: replaces Hectrol Lockinterface and looks better
- Playing Cards HD Retexture: high-quaality retexture of all playing cards and casino tables.
- Skinned Mesh Improvement Mod: a realtively new mod, it fixes all (or almost) creature meshes. Fully compatible with Ragdolls, as they modify different meshes.
- Lucky 38 Lights Redone: Overhauls the Lucky 38 building, LOD mesh and lights. Built upon the Lucky 38 E3 Lights Restored used in version 1.1.0 of the guide.
- FNV LOD Supplementation: even more LOD meshes and textures.
- TheFriedTurkey 3 Creature Pack: the securitron meshes and textures look great.
- Dropped / Replaced
- Dead Money - Decayed Ghost People - replaced by a better version of the same mod
- Enhanced Blood Textures - replaced by a better version of the same mod
- Hectrol Vegas Sewers Deluxe HighRes Retex: replaces a single texture that is covered by NMC's Texture Pack anyway.
- Hectrol Lockinterface Deluxe HighRes Retex: superseded by Elegant Lockpick Retexture.
- IHWT - Improved Heavy Weapons Textures - some texture error, conflicts with WMIM (which offers better meshes) and few if the retextures were unique.
- Mojave Nights: lower quality than the new adds.
- Project Nevada - Equipment Standalone: Replaced by Fallout 3 Weapons Restoration. It's closer to the STEP Mandate and better implemented.
- Retextured Playing Cards: dropped as it retextures only the static card deck world object.
- Teddy Bear Retexture: replaces a single texture that is covered by NMC's Texture Pack anyway.
- Tweaked Cashregister: replaces a single texture that is covered by NMC's Texture Pack anyway.
- Moved
- WTH - Weapon Textures from Heaven - moved to the bottom of the section as the textures it provides look better than the ones from Simplified Weapon Retexture Project (i.e. it should overwrite the other mod).
07-Sounds & Music
- Added
- Animal Sounds: the same sounds as Ambient Wasteland 2, byt packaged correctly and actually working
- Fallout 3 weapons reload sounds for Anniversary Animation Pack
- All Weapon Sounds Overhaul Modern Edition - AWSOME: scripted
- All Explosion Sounds Overhaul: scripted
- Dropped / Replaced
- Ambient Wasteland 2: not working due to being packaged incorrectly
08-Character Appearance
09-Fixes
- Added
- Elijah Voice Audio Files Fix: plugin-less fix.
- Improved Lighting Shaders: an essenrail fix that allows more tham 4 light sources to work at the same time. Also fixes landscape seam and shaders.
- Strip Lights Region Fix

- Less Flickery City of New Vegas: fixes LOD issues.
- Moved
- Asterra's Many Fixes: technically moved to 04 - Foundation late during v. 1.1.0 of the guide, but in case it wasn't noticed. It's fine for this to be overwritten.
- Dropped / Replaced
- Lucky 38 E3 Lights Restored: superseded by Lucky 38 Lights Redone.
- Primm Reputation Restored: deprecated.
- No more giant manhole covers: Incorporated in YUP.
10-Gameplay-General
- Added
- Delay DLC Redux: the katest in a line of mods that attempt to integrate the DLCs in a logical way. Integrates all DLCs.
- Dropped / Replaced
- These two mods are made now obsolete by Delay DLC Redux:
11-Gameplay-AI & Combat
- Added
- Fallout 3 Weapons Restoration Rebalanced: necessary for better integration of Fallout 3 Weapons Restoration to the game.
12-Gameplay-Economy
13-Gameplay-Immersion
14-Gameplay-Quests
15-Gameplay-Skills & Perks
16-Interface
17-Locations
- Added
- Lucky 38 Climate Restored (Scripted): more like a lighting overhaul of Lucky 38's top floor.
- Dropped / Replaced
- The N.V. Interiors Project A Room With A View: it adds glass windows with a neat view to the Strip, but sadly changes other objects it shouldn't have and does not carry forward various YUP and navmesh fixes. Also the Gommorah suite key is unavailable. Too much hastle to make it work.
