What's New
This is the official v2.1.0 release of our No Man's Sky modding guide.
AMUMSS
Going forward, LUA scripts will be utilized for merging mods with the Guide's Resource Files; thus, AMUMSS will be used. This change is necessary to add flexibility in adding and maintaining mods to the Guide, as well as, helping to reduce maintenance overhead for Curators. What this means for users will have a bit more work to set up the Guide. Per usual, we walk users through every step. This also means users who are comfortable with the process can more easily add customization beyond what the Guide provides.
This is a major change in the method the Guide is using which facilitates the move to a major version according to Step's versioning scheme.
Step NoMansSky Resource Files
The Resource Files are now provided solely as LUA scripts for use with AMUMSS. Additionally, there are fewer scripts required with our new method since other mods no longer need to be merged.
Guide-Level Changes
- This update is to officially support No Man's Sky:Outlaws.
Since the v2.0 Guide was only usable for a couple of days, we've carried forward all the changes from the previous changelog.

Resource Files (aka, 20-Patches)
Updated
- Step NoMansSky Resource Files | The files are now provide as LUA scripts for merging using AMUMSS. The following has changes happened the Resource Files:
- Tweaked player movement very slightly
- Lowered toxic environment damages slightly
- Increased shadow draw distance on stations
- Lowered the amount of asteroids during pulse
- Lowered normal and ring asteroid fade ranges
- Increased cold and heat protection on the suit slightly
- Matched CSO's distance that asteroids will be clear of planets (30,000)
- Increased engine falloff some more to adjust for some internal changes.
- Increased anisotropic filtering settings for all graphical presets because it cost nothing.
- Doubled and balanced the number of terrain blocks per frame (this could have a small impact on performance, but allows more terrain to be loaded in).
- Turned down the Jetpack range and tanks for better balance with vanilla play. The 4x settings were making things just a bit too easy at start. They are now at 3x vanilla.
- Added more Falloff to space Boost for all ship classes. While it may be realistic to have none, it makes for odd gameplay. Values are lower vs vanilla and adjusted by class.
