Question

Posted

After exhausting all of my troubleshooting abilities I finally have caved in and decided to seek a second, third, and possibly fourth opinion (but not fifth! just kidding).

I am experiencing this issue when I equip armors/weapons/ect. while I am in first person, when I go to 3rd person my arms are much too close to my body than they should be, like they are sticking straight down. The character still animates mind you, he walks, draws weapons ect, just his arms are off. This effect is immedietly reversed when I equip items in 3rd person, his arms just "pop" back into normal position. As long as I stay in 3rd person his arms will always stay in the correct position but as soon as I go to first person and change worn items BOOM, arms messed up again.

At first I thought, okay, maybe this a skeleton/animation/body replacer bug. I have tried uninstalling xp32's Skeleton, I have made sure FNIS was always run after uninstalling or reinstalling animations or skeletons. I have uninstalled my various animation mods, I have uninstalled my custom body re-placer's (I use two separate re-placer's for each gender but the bug effects both genders).

frankly, I'm at a loss as to where to look at this point. Sure it's not a game breaking bug, but I would like to avoid the "I have to take a poo" stance every-time I change equipment in first person.

Any help is most welcome, Thanks!

Try going into command window and typing "showracemenu" without the quotes and hit enter. then change your body on the weight slider and finish character creation (don't worry it shouldn't hurt anything) see if that fixes it.

Unfortunately, no change. Went back into first person, equipped helmet went back into 3rd and hes in constipation stance again. For now I have to change into 3rd person every-time I want to un/equip something to prevent it from happening, since he maintains the correct posture as long as I do it in 3rd person and not 1st. Just a really weird problem, even if it's not game breaking.

Strange, never seen that before. It must be something to do with skeleton, animation or body replacers. So at the moment you don't use ANY animation, skeleton or body replacer mod and it's still the same?

I went through the process of uninstalling everything I had to test if it would remove the problem yes. Like you said, I assume it had something to do with one of those issues but for whatever reason the problem persists.

Normally I use:

FNIS

Realistic Ragdolls

xp32 Maximum Skeleton

Immersive Animations

Mystic Knights (Magic animations only)

360 Walk Run Plus

Chesko's Arrow/Quiver Draw Animations

Some random Animations such as: Faster Get Up, Breathing Idles, YYAnim Natural Jump.

Dual Sheath Redux

RaceMenu + Overlays Plugin

Body Replacer's:

XCE for Females

Better Males non-nude for Males

later today when I have time I may try to link a screenshot(s)

Thanks for replies!

Alright here are links to some screens, these are taken with all animation, body re placer's and skeletons uninstalled.

Look at the arms, in the first image, this is what happens if I un/equip anything while I am in first person. He still animates in this position but you can tell it looks funny compared to the second image.

If I equip anything in 3rd person his arms will "pop" back into correct position. But as soon as I do anything in first person, he wants to take a poo.

I want to stress that he animates in both pictures, he doesn't do a T pose or anything.

This is extremely strange and beyond my immediate knowledge unfortunately...

Let's try this. Start Skyrim. When in main menu don't load a game, but instead bring up the console and type "coc riverwood" - this will start a new game with a default character with default equipments and place you in Riverwood (you should never start a proper playthrough this way though!). Once the game is loaded, try equipping the armour your character has.

I did as you suggested and I'm more perplexed now. I can't seem to reproduce the issue with the new game. I slowly installed all my animations, body re-placer's and skeleton back, going back in game each time to see if it would occur, nothing. yet when I load my real save it is still there plain as day.

Furthermore, the mod load order is exactly the same in both games, in fact that game is also pretty much brand new with only having gotten past Helgen. No mods were removed in this time, nothing has been changed so both games are identical minus going through Helgen.

So the only thing I can think is that "something" maybe happened "in-game" that screwed it up?

Edit: Update, I just loaded a previous save when my character is inside Helgen Keep right after the beginning sequence, the bug is non-existent in that save as well. The next save up is the one in Riverwood where the bug is present. Perhaps this is in fact plugin related?

Looks like it. My guess is it's a bug that's permanently saved in your game. Did you try resetting cells maybe? I don't suppose it will help but you never know.

Other solution is to load earlier saves one by one and check if the bug persists. If you come across one where it's not present, you will have the answer :) Between the clean" save and the next buggy one something happened that caused the bug to appear.

hmmm, I don't have any outlandish plugins in my load order either. What kind of records would need to edited to effect the PC's stance. I should add npc's don't have this bug.

As I said in my first post, stuff like that is rather beyond my knowledge... I can try to help you troubleshoot, but I don't feel confident enough to suggest the (nomen omen ;) ) root cause and unwillingly ill-advise.

I'm not sure how to do that thing where you can hide part of your post for long stuff so forgive the wall of mods. I'll just leave me load order here just in-case someone is inspires anyone.

Thanks for all the help rootsrat, At least I have a better idea of where to look now ^.^

UPDATE: I figured out the bug! it is in fact caused by frostfalls burlap cloak (which incidentally is the first cloak you obtain from gurder if you have frostfall active). That's why I couldn't reproduce it in other games because I wasn't using that cloak. To be sure, I crafted several other frostfall cloaks and WIC cloaks however, the burlap cloak appears to be the only one causing the issue. As soon as I equip it in first person, he has to poo, I guess the cloak must smell awful or something!

I'll report it back on the frostfall forum for Chesko's benefit. it could still be a compatibility issue, although I don't know why it only effects that cloak.
