Question

Hi!

In the step guide by Neovalen/Skyrim_Revisited, at the Optimizing The Bethesda Textures stage, it is written "Copy the /textures directory from the optimized folders to the corresponding mod folder." My problem is there is no /textures directory in my optimised dir after optimization, only a .bsa file?

I did follow the "https://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:DDSopt_%26_Texture_Overhauls#Using_DDSopt" and step for "optimizing The Bethesda Textures"... were am I wrong? Or is the /textures will be extracted by MO?

Thx.

N.B.: The step guide is very well done!!

You can extract the BSA using MO, or you can do it using ddsopt. The essential part is that you have loose files before you can do the optimizations etc.

When I follow step one of the 'Optimizing The Bethesda Textures' stage, from 'Execute the DDSOpt tool' to the '[Process]', the result is a bsa file, no loose files... ?!

In the documentaition of DDsopt (https://obge.paradice-insight.us/wiki/DDSopt), it is said that "DDSopt starts processing everything from the input BSA into the new BSA you defined". The second stage sems to do the same, the result being a .bsa. There is no loose files or directory to copy for the third step of that step section.

Thx.

From Neovalens guide:

Execute the DDSOpt tool. *Note: Do NOT run this through Mod Organizer. DO run this as an Administrator.*

In the "Ignore" drop-down select "Don't process any of the known file-types at all".

Click the [browse] button near the top text-box and select the Skyrim - Textures.bsa in the /Data folder.

Click the [browse] button near the bottom text-box and select a temporary directory where the textures will be extracted. For example, C:/Working/Vanilla.

Check the "Show Recursive" box below the center text-box.

Click the red [X] to deselect all files.

In the center text box, type "*.dds" and then click [Apply].

Click the green checkmark to select all filtered files.

Clear the center text box and click [Apply].

Click the [Process] button in the bottom right corner.

This assumes that you have setup ddsopt as per the STEP wiki. Which is the set of instructions to use the optimal compression and mipmap level etc.

Here the vital part is the "ignore" part of the settings since this tells it not to optimize etc. just to unpack.

This should produce a folder of your choice with all the textures as loose files.

Hope that helps a bit more.

I was shure that I did the Ignore part... It seems I did the same mistake a few times! :whistling: Did it again and voilà. Bordel.

Thx,

I'll take more coffee next time.
