I didn't touch the drive that Steam/Skyrim is on, nor did the drive letter change. I put back appdata folders & mygames folders, ran steam, let it "reinstall" or whatever it did to put back hkey info, and ran the game. Now I'm getting a lot of missing meshes. The only thing I can think of offhand is when I ran DynDOLOD, I saved everything on C-Drive (which would've been overwritten). I have a Mod Organizer profile before wrye bash & dyndolod STEP instructions in case I just need to go back, but those also come up with purple meshes, right down to the spinning logo at the beginning. So... what's the trouble, and what are my options?
-
So basically, it's all randomized until I enter, say, "Riverwood", and then everyone appears, and gets their stuff. Makes better sense than the whole of Skyrim being populated from the beginning. I didn't even know what "coc" was until I googled it. I don't even fast travel in my game, so no worries there. Thanks for the explanation!
-
I've created a couple profiles already, just to make sure I don't have to start over. One before Wrye bash, and I'll make another one in like 3 hours, whenever Dyndolod is finished. My profiles folder is going to be HUGE! At least once I start adding more stuff like the above. This'll be the first time I've ever gotten to the very end of STEP.

Not sure I've ever seen Arthmoor's. Might have to check it out. But before I start deviating away from the main Step (on the last download before bashed patch), I reckon I just copy the main Step install profile, and experiment from there, correct? And this is safe to do AFTER the DynDOLOD section? If I don't have to go through the entire Step Extended bit, and just experiment with some new mods, I'll be happy to build and experiment for weeks! (I probably won't play much due to the actual experimentation, but I'm like that I guess.)
-
I'm starting Step: Extended, but I also want to add other mods, like in the Title, as well as Bandoliers, Cloaks, Falskaar, SPERG and a few Player Homes (I have a thing for player homes, so I definitely want a few of them!). However, The step guide always says to leave those options UNCHECKED. Option One: Download the mods, install & check anyways. Option Two: Follow the guide strictly, then go back & reinstall those mods. (but what do I do about the ones I left unchecked?) Eventually I have to get down to Wrye Bash & DynDolod. How do I work these extra mods with them, in order to keep my skyrim relatively crash free? What's the best option? Or is there a 3rd?

Wearable Lanterns toggle & fuel Convenient Horses talk/loot Frostfall weathersense None of the hotkeys will change. The default seems to be ESC, but that won't work (for obvious reasons). Other than that, everything seems to be doing fine, with (for the first time ever in my time of modding) no CTD for over 4 hours! Example: Lanterns. Default is ESC. I click, and choose "1". The dialogue says it's taken. I know that, so I choose another. The "." button. Nothing changes, no dialogue, can't go anywhere else, other than backwards right out of MCM. I go back, nothing's changed. I try again, just the "." (and a few more buttons), and nothing is sticking. Same with FF & CH (and maybe more, after trying these 3, I quit trying the rest.) I followed step 2.2.9, I'm pretty sure to the best of my ability, and the first try, got polygons everywhere. So I went about unchecking some mods here & there, and still couldn't get rid of the polygons after several attempts. So I thought, let's start from the beginning. I created a new profile, and ONLY checked the ones I thought I would need to check from the beginning. Even then, still polygons. I loaded up from steam, and after a LONG wait, I got started on Low Quality, still very shaky mouse. I went back to Mod Organizer, and found SkyUI , ETaC, and a few dozen others, are somehow now INSIDE 3dNPC! How on earth did THAT happen, and is my computer simply NOT compatible with enbseries? On a side note, too, I think step-project.com is blocked in China now. Had to use a VPN to get here for the last few days.

I sort of started over, redownloaded everything new, and redid the memory block. Before I readded the plugin, when I launched (using ASLAL so I can test everything without helgen, I was getting basically a ton of polygons flashing around, black screen, red/pink screen, white screen... you name it. OCCASIONALLY I could see the menus, so I know SKSE & SkyUI are there. But still, completely unplayable. After adding the memory block I added the argument, and it looks like I got what I wanted. Except now, it's basically CTD after loading the saved game. However, loading up a NEW game, I can get to Mara's little hovel. By the way, skse.ini was created this time around, however, after doublechecking after I installed all these mods, I found it blank. ???

Didn't seem to affect it. Still 256, plus whatever the rest is. Current skyrim.ini: To make sure I'm right, turning off papyrus is removing the the entire [Papyrus] bit? Not just turning off logging? Might as well get it right from the start. I did follow parts of the step guide. Maybe it's worth starting from scratch with my straight-from-steam backup & going from there. Only thing is, there's a LOT of mods there that I'm not sure this desktop can handle.

But I don't have Knapsack Enhanced, 83willows, or any of the Chesko extras like Lanterns/Candles or Lanterns/Guards. Never even heard of those ones. Arrissa, Valfar, Hoth... SkyTEST, none of them. I ran LOOT, but not sure if MO did anything else to it. MO's Sort, I thought took care of the left pane, while LOOT took care of the right. That's how it was explained to me before. Running it again, however did give me a different order. Note, I did change one little thing. I finally remembered to grab Wet&Cold Holidays this time. I'll re-bash & see what happens. I only turned on Papyrus since that seemed to be a common theme in r/skyrimmods. I'll turn it back off & check out the link. Cheers, both of you!
