Skyrim Revisited Pre-Release Feedback
myarta replied to Neovalen's topic in Skyrim Revisited (retired)
cstarkey42, it appears that I was correct about the fact that LOOT *DOES* assess content in a T5E way, per the FAQ grantsp linked to: "To sort a plugin, BOSS needs it to be added to its masterlist, which is hand-ordered by its maintainers. LOOT instead reads the contents of each plugin to see which plugins conflict, etc. and uses that information to decide on the best ordering. This means that it can sort all plugins without needing them to become recognised first." However, I suppose I don't know how it decides to order those plugins once it decides they conflict yet neither are masters of each other. Perhaps Vividian Weathers just needs Vividian itself as a master so LOOT will put it after. Or we can add that sorting step to the guide, or submit it to the LOOT team for inclusion in their global masterlist. I think reverting to having to specify dozens of orders is an over-reaction. -

Oh whoops, maybe I'm exaggerating what it does, then. Is it really just Check masters and put masters first, then apply globally-managed manual list? I really did think it checks to see which plugins have no conflicts before certifying them as irrelevant in their ordering. Is that a myth? If so, my apologies. -

Well, did cstarkey42 compare Vividian Expanded Weathers with the main Vividian esp and see if there were actually any overrides between the two such that the different order matters? I haven't built this guide in a few months so I forget what's inside the two. If so, then I'd submit them to LOOT to see what the bug is. The whole point of LOOT is to liberate you from having to micromanage order lists, and I think its conflict detection works pretty much every time, like GrantSP says. Maybe there's a small bug, if you check cstarkey42's esps, but then they'll patch it and you're back to being okay. -

Doesn't LOOT assess conflicts? If two files don't collide, their exact order doesn't matter, right? Or is it actually making changes such that the conflict winners change from person to person? -

Right. Then I guess I will just have to go with your guide and nothing else, because even if I'll miss the features of the others, I can't play the whole game plot through with the way it keeps dying. Do you think I need more than 8GB of system RAM, maybe? Skyrim is 32 bit so it caps at 3G, IIRC, but SKSE is a separate process so together they might be toying with the limit. -

Thanks, evil elf guy, IIRC. My main problem is crashes outdoors, just walking around the land between say Whiterun and Riverwood, etc. They don't happen at specific places, so if I load up again, everything is fine and I can keep walking. I remember Adelmar's Fight Against the Thalmor caused a cell error with some tower and I had to use the console and teleport around into a back way. That stuff I can solve, but when it's seemingly random instead of tied to a specific location, I'm not aware of any tools you can use to see what might have caused it. I also spent many many hours reconciling patches where Arthmoor or others didn't fully carry the latest USKP changes forward, etc, integrating BYOD flags into NPCs, etc etc etc. But it still had the random crashes every 5 - 15 minutes during the bad spells, 30-45 minutes during the good spells. It was infuriating. I really wanted to play all those mods, but I couldn't get very far into the game with all the re-loading. But if people are used to re-loading every 30, then I guess I'll just have to accept that as the best possible. I was curious what par for the course was. I did follow the directions closely except for when I added mods that weren't on the list, I didn't very carefully add just one at a time, determine it was stable, and advance, etc. Part of that is because the crashes I was having weren't reproducible so I'd have to play for a couple hours for each new mod to see what the crash rate was like. -

Hey guys, how stable is the default build based on this wiki for you? Inevitably I follow this guide, which takes a while, then I try to add REGS and a couple more things, and despite following that guide and many attempts at conflict resolution, I end up crashing anywhere from once an hour to every 5-10 minutes. I really hate sinking so much time into getting all my mods ready and working and then having the game be unplayably crashy. But I also don't like missing out on the mods that make the game 10x better. I'm thinking about trying this guide again, and disciplining myself to stick with it. And maybe PerMa because I don't like Vanilla gameplay anymore as far as perks and skills go. How long is normal for you guys to play before you get crashed out again? -

Never mind. I had forgotten to disable Anti Aliasing in the base Skyrim launcher config before tweaking it. Set iMultisample to 0 and we're good. -

Hey guys, I'm having a problem with ENB indoors. When I am outdoors, it looks beautiful. Indoors, however, there seem to be no walls or anything. I figure I've missed some little step somewhere. What I'm running is yesterday/this morning's version of the wiki, with REGs and PerMa on top. I should have tested it with just SRLE, but I missed the step the first time through where you activate the ENB, so when I tested it ENB was off, and thus the problem was not seen. Right now I can play okay, with ENB off when indoors, but it's not as pretty looking. Here's an example of ENB off, and then popping ENB on for the exact same shot. Any ideas? None of my Skyprocs are working after update

Oh god. Thank you for this thread. I was finding older stuff on google until I stumbled on this thing, which isn't indexed externally yet. The replacement hook.dll fixed it for me. Yay Tannin. Thanks GrantSP and others for linking to the BG and posting back that there was a fix. -

Not yet, thanks for asking. I'm curious what those improved textures are like, but the existing ones aren't bad. -

3.0.32 is the latest released on Nexus Mods. I found a downloadable zip of an SVN version that's over a year old now that is an early 3.0.33. I think I'm going to stay away from that one. There's some code on github indicating that they were trying to port the xEdit SVN over to github but that they were having difficulties. I spent a couple minutes tops looking for the official SVN and didn't have any luck, but stopped after that amount of time. I'd probably stick with the latest on the official NexusMod download, unless you're so pro with the software that you can understand the changelogs of the alpha/beta and deal with any possible negative consequences of new bugs. -

Another report from the field. I searched this topic first for 'Gemling' and found nothing about this issue, so I thought I'd point this out: I looked over it again and I appear to have followed the steps properly, but for the first time I'm getting a conflict list that differs from the guide. Complete Crafting Overhaul Remade claims: "Overrides: aMidianBorn Book of Silence, Bandolier Bags and Pouches, Bandolier - Dawnguard, Cloaks of Skyrim", but there are two others: 1) USKP (Scripts/mineorescript.pex) and 2) Winter is Coming (1nivWICCloaksCRAFT.esp) Clothing and Clutter Fixes claims: "Overrides: EotW Mage Robes of Skyrim", but I actually see: 1) CCOR: "meshes/armor/circlets/femelfcirclets/circlet[2,5,9].nif", 2) Gemling Queen Jewelry: "meshes/armor/circlets/femelfcirclets/circlet[1,3,4,6-8,10].nif" The split out of 2,5, and 9 are the results of instructions from the CCOR installation which let the GQJ versions pass through. After carefully doing that, however, CCF just wrote over it all anyway. Was this overlooked? Should I stop CCF from overriding some/all of these files? Plus, it doesn't override anything in EotW Mage Robes of Skyrim. I presume the override would have come from the "EotW Mage Robes Compatible Textures" step of CCF. That pack contains: "textures/Clothes/monk/hood_color_[black,orange,purple,white].dds" (oddly orange and white are .DDS and black and purple are .dds, but this is irrelevant I think). The EoTW Mage Robes of Skyrim package provides in the same directory "[hood,robe]_color[4,5].dds" (all 4 combinations) via the HF patch and "bluevariant[hood, robes].dds, boots[_n].dds, hood.dds, hood_color[2,3].dds, hood_n.dds, robes.dds, robes_color[2,3].dds, robes_n.dds, vaerminavariantrobes[_n].dds". The most likely thing is I missed a step somewhere since there are so many, but it's also possible the directions weren't updated after newer versions changed the contents and overrides? I reviewed all my override data compared to the guide and came up with the following inconsistencies. Just to be clear, I either want help spotting the mistake I made in my install that I'm blind to, or I want to help contribute minor corrections to a thoroughly excellent guide. I saw that the history was almost entirely Neovalen, so I decided not to just edit it. Here's the list: -

Argh! I found a copy of the v1.1 files over at LL, but unfortunately they don't have the UNP textures file archived. Could someone attach it or PM it to me, please? I can host a DL link to it after that. Alternatively, I have her released Modders Resource File: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/48329/ So if someone could provide a detailed list of files I need (e.g. screenshot(s) of MO's filetree, expanded), they're probably in here somewhere. I just don't know which ones to pick since they're all lumped together under the general Dagi-Raht Assets folder. Thanks! I'm loving this guide.
