Long story short; when the Steam Workshop for Skyrim launched I started downloading (subscribing) to mods like a madman (got about 300 now). You guys can probably imagine the compatibility issues that followed. Needless to say, the result was hours of headaches, trying to find out which mod(s) that made my Skyrim CTD. Sure, like we all know Skyrim, like Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas (games that I LOVE) aren't perfect or 100% stable. I am pretty sure even Bethesda's admitted it. CTD's are somewhat common even with a fresh, unmodded Skyrim or Fallout 3. But enough of that.
Like most people I have Skyrim installed on Steam. I heard that you can only use WB with Skyrim ONLY if it's installed elsewhere, but after reading z929669's guide (https://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:Wrye_Bash#tab=Pre-installation_Setup), I am not so sure.
Also, like I mentioned, I've got a shitload of mods installed, so:
Can I copy ALL of the mods, (and folders that are related to mods) in my Data folder to a temporary folder, then establish a clean Skyrim install and then copying the old Data folder back into the new, clean Skyrim folder, with nothing happening?
Example: I have installed and completed the "triple A" mod: Moonpath to Elsweyr. Excellent stuff. If I establish a clean Skyrim install, and then move the required files for that mod back into my Data folder, will my character still have the awesome armor that I got in that mod (or any item from any mod for that matter) or will it not be there and I have to play Moonpath again?
Keep in mind that my savefiles for that character are located in the same folder as before the clean install, untouched. So, in theory, since the savefiles are the same old ones, where my character is wearing the Moonpath armor, it SHOULD be like nothing has happened, even after the clean install. But: Is my theory ("old" mod + "old" savefiles = "old" Skyrim) correct?
