Thanks for the responses! I'm not sure what crime I committed, but I've been avoiding guards until I can make it to Windhelm on my own. My friend pointed me to some mods that supposedly make crime mechanics more realistic: https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/8078/ https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/9887/ https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/24713/ I'm wondering if these will conflict with STEP? Or will they break my game if I install them now and continue from my save?

I just recently started playing this game. I was making my way back from the Greybeards to Whiterun (to turn in a quest), occasionally wandering off the path for fun, when I wander into some campsite. A guard there immediately tells me to pay a bounty of 40 gold, which is odd because afaik I've committed no crimes. I pay it anyway, but then I am teleported to Windhelm, some city waaaaay far away from anywhere I've ever been before. Can anyone help me understand what happened?

Thanks everybody for the responses! I've disabled the mod and everything seems to be working fine now.

First time playing Skyrim, installed (nearly) all of the STEP core mods via Mod Organizer (latest version). Launched game, every mod seems to be working correctly. Entered the dungeon with the Stormcloak guy, defeated the two enemies, unlocked the door, then immediately touched a large black cooking pot, took damage and died instantly. Is this an error or an intentional game mechanic? I was at full health, touched the pot, my screen showed blood spots, then I died. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks edit: No other mods installed other than STEP core and a few other STEP mods.
