I have been trying to solve this issue for a week without success and I have also run numerous searches both on the forms here and on google but have yet to find a solution to fix my problem. I am also not very technical so trying to find the answer has been difficult. I followed the STEP core guide, omitting a few mods due either to the fact they were unavailable or there were other mods I wanted to use instead (i.e. immersive armors, weapons, and creatures). I have run LOOT numerous times, run TESEdit and cleaned the indicated files, and also run Wyre Bash to create my bashed patch and also to locate any further errors, such as Master sorts, which I then fixed using TESEdit. However in game, I noticed that my audio seems to be messed up. Best I can describe it is that when my character moves I sometimes hear the footsteps and other times, I do not. Also sounds that play when new quests begin or when new locations are discovered sometimes play and sometimes don't. I did not have this issue before I installed the STEP core modes and I think it may be linked to trying to update my DirectX, but I am unsure. Next, and this makes the game unplayable, I CTD between Helgen and Riverwood, just after the wolves (which I also noticed combat sounds, such as drawing a sword were missing). I have tried removing mods that I have read may have had issues, but that didn't seem to work. I even tried running LOOT again, re-creating my bashed patch, and starting new save files to cut down on corruption, but I still CTD in the same spot. I am guessing there may be script errors as I approach Riverwood, but as I am not very technical, I cannot locate where the problem is. All the mods come back clean with no errors. It's brand new, has an i7-8700k processor, a Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 graphics card as well as 16 GB of RAM.
