Generate water flow maps
hishutup replied to hishutup's topic in General Skyrim LE Discussion & Support
As for that noise... yeah, its noise. This seems like a much more reasonable tool. -
I have literally no idea how to go about this. The CK doesnt appear to have any sort of estimation tool included so my guess is that they used an external tool. As far as I know, water flow maps are generated for each cell for every worldspace using this format textures\water\<world>\flow.<x>.<y>.ddsHere is an example of riverwood's cell and the one just north It seems that the channels do different things as the texture is probably just an easy way to store data. Alpha: Speed or Viscosity? Red: Direction? Green: Direction? Blue: I don't think this is used, except in the noise. I came about this because I wanted to extend water flows to falskaar and I was greeted with a very strange "bug". Here is an example from a custom worldspace. I have no idea how to go about generating this sort of thing and I know it will not be an easy task. The only way in my grasp is to probably handpaint which is what SP suggested. This is possible for a handful of cells but definitely not all. I really hope I am just being an idiot and missing something but I have no idea where to look for this information as water flows are relatively new.

I just use a batch file. Hmm, might be a good beginners pyqt project.

Helgen Reborn, SSE water--- should I patch it?
hishutup replied to tjax323's question in xEdit Support
Dont touch bytestream(?) data like LAND or NAVM, there is no way to do normal conflict resolution. Also, if the water field is left blank, from what I've seen is that the engine uses that last available field. -
Wrye Bash - Delinquent Masters (Trying to make bashed patch)
hishutup replied to bardakista's question in Wrye Bash Support
If youre missing masters, the game should just crash on launch. For starters, its tradition to load the official files as update, DG, HF, DB I'd also challenge that modding is impossible without loot. Loot really isnt needed if people properly conflict resolve their list. Side note: I've actually come to dislike loot as time goes on, there are much better solutions that can be developed, like one that is content aware. -
Plugins with out of order masters
hishutup replied to walterAgator's question in Guide Support & Bug Reports
Out of order masters shouldnt have any I'll effects. Well, at least I have yet to come across any data to suggest that there is actually an issue. The plugin don't care about load order, it was designed to have its own virtual load order. I think this stems the oblivion days. -
The files are pretty similar from the latest skyrim version to the current SSE version. There is a reason why the form version exists, its a way to let the engine know what to expect. There are some minor differences between form 43 and 44. To list a few: VOLI records, WTHR has new field HNAM, WATR has new field NAM5 and I think there was one or two other differences. Here is some data from vanilla plugins Skyrim.esm has forms from 14 up to 44 Update.esm DG HF DB If there were any issues to be had with previous forms then all the files are messed up, not just the user made ones. The CK defaults to a sort of forced update for some reason, rather than just updating when need be. I should also say that xEdit assumes the form version is the latest and will not stop you from trying to use something that the older form versions do not support. I don't know if this causes issues in the engine or not, but I'd figure it would just ignore it. Also, I think its funny how people assume there is an issue and ask for proof that there is no problem, the logic is kind of backwards.

From what I understand when checking to see if the file exists, papyrus throws an error that can't be captured. If there is a function that we are not catching, its pretty easy to add it to the list. FrostFall and iNeed should have similar spam unless SKSE has a variant that doesnt. Overall, most users need to disable the log as it will not be helpful. If the user wants, throw me the compiled file and I'll see if it can be properly decompiled. Source: [02/24/2015 - 10:29:10PM] Error: File "HearthfireMultiKid.esp" does not exist or is not currently loaded. stack: <unknown self>.Game.GetFormFromFile() - "<native>" Line ? [ARTHRRFMoveFamilyToSeverinManor (4F0036C9)].arth_rrf_storeregistration.ModSupportChecks() - "ARTH_RRF_StoreRegistration.psc" Line 50 [alias Player on quest ARTHRRFMoveFamilyToSeverinManor (4F0036C9)].ARTH_RRF_PlayerAliasScript.OnPlayerLoadGame() - "ARTH_RRF_PlayerAliasScript.psc" Line 7 Probably the most common type of "error" you're going to see in the log. This isn't actually an error at all. It's a generic message spit out by one of the vanilla game functions that's used to check for the presence of other mods in your game. It just means that the mod it says doesn't exist is not being loaded right now. Ignore these. EDIT: This is why I said the log can be misleading. It's just best for users to disable it.

Monitor types and Skyrim - need help choosing
hishutup replied to aaltair's question in General Skyrim LE Support
I dont really see the point of 4k monitors as what they offer for someone like me isn't all that beneficial, I feel that currently its much better to downscale than run the game at native with no or limited aa. I definitely am looking at getting an ultrawide though because they have a different experience to offer, especially the larger curved ones. I would figure someone in your position would be looking for a better panel that is more color accurate. The higher end ones offer lower latency, higher refresh rate, better response time, among a few other things. I've always had a cheap panel and I've never really been happy with them, I am trying to change this. My specs are below, I can tell you I would struggle maxing games out at anything higher than 1920x1080 with MSAA or downsampling. My panel is a Samsung SyncMaster EX2220, my problems are TN panel, color accuracy is garbage and its too small The panel I got my mom is by far better ASUS VN248H-P, its stand is terrible and wobbly plus it only connects via HDMI, I prefer DP, but its an IPS panel, good size and has good color. TN benefits are faster response and cheaper IPS are more color accurate and are a much better panel. The downside is back light bleed can be hit or miss, my experience shows that its a none issue as its better than my TN. Tech: I have a bunch of ASUS products but they always seem like they are hit and miss when looking online. Although, I will say I have been very fortunate and only had one go bad. -
Its just spam, ignore it and then disable papyrus logging because it can be misleading.

Papyrus logs are pretty useless for users.

I've been hearing that some of the earlier drives ~3+ years old have been failing which cause various oddities. My system has been rock solid with some initial trouble which was definitely expected took about a week to troubleshoot and fix any issues, which is about how long I knew it was going to take. To troubleshoot this, you'd need to isolate the system to a stable state and then introduce the components one at a time. You can stress individual targeted components but this allows for some variables

How reliable is Mod organzer's AI/Archive Invalidation?
hishutup replied to lv4321's question in Mod Organizer Support
They should all use similar mechanics to "invalidate" loose files. From what I remember its just an old 4x4 black texture with the name *.*. When poking around with alternatives, MO seems to handle things a little bit differently when the option is and isn't selected. In FNV MO, I tired to load an alternative, but I was unable to get it to work. I think I found that MO actually overwrote my ini settings causing my new BSA to not be part of that list. Mo has other issues with oblivion, AI is unlikely to be one of them. Its not really MO's fault, but its just what it is. -
I hope it's good, I like to see competition because Intel has been really lazy. In relation to older bethsoft games, let's see how single core performance is. If I working again, I'd build a system just for sh*ts and giggles, but yeah...

You have the same story as in the other guy so this post also applies to you. I'll add you to the discussion for notification reasons.

Wait a sec, did you do any changes mid save?I'll have more instructions probably tomorrow... 5am... Yeah time to sleep -
Can I get your merged file and also probably the original unmodified compiled pex. I think something really weird may be happening.

SRLE Extended: Legacy of The Dragonborn

Same post as in PM to someone Its fine, I just dont know how to proceed as I have no idea where to look. I can investigate but as far as I can tell, relinker is working. Do you happen to have ANY script overwriting relinker's, if so thats your issue because relinker needs to come after all regardless. As I say, the data seems to be lining up. My only guess is that there is some sort of outer influence. I no longer use oldrim, MO, Relinker or Merge Plugins since SSE is a thing and I don't intend on looking back. Troubleshooting would be done by proxy which is not the best. If I am not looking somewhere please let me know. -
I don't usually lurk on here anymore and I kind of forgot about this but currently, I am looking into it. I need the relinker compiled scripts, specifically "DBM_QF__051521A2" as its relevant to the issue and the plugin that is relevant. As for reddvilzz, the author thought i'd be real funny to use a bunch of odd encoded symbols for a dummy name which is causing python to misinterpret the number of chars. He has been playing with that for more than awhile. EDIT: I believe the issue reddvilzz observed should be fixed in ver 30 Its identical to issue 3 I even look at the binaries expecting something new but nope same issue apparently. Can you try again with a fresh build from the releases

GUIDE Mythic Dawn: Gateway to Oblivion WIP
hishutup replied to hishutup's topic in Oblivion - Mythic Dawn
I'm not usually one to just accept that thing happen because they just do, I try to ask why and then see if its in my power to fix or come up with some sort of workaround. Most of the crashes are from some sort of memory issue. -
GUIDE Mythic Dawn: Gateway to Oblivion WIP
hishutup replied to hishutup's topic in Oblivion - Mythic Dawn
Most guides fall out of date. Currently, this guide cannot fall behind as it uses mods that are unlikely to change. I focused on actually testing and culling the causes of crashes, freezes and the dreaded framerate killers because I want my experience to be perfect. Thats another thing, I have never played oblivion because I keep nitpicking issues. The furthest I have gotten is the chapel. I also like things to be consistent, this is hard for most users to grasp as they are ignorant of how things work, but it haunts me all the time. I recently poked oblivion again, but there are a few outstanding issues with OR that I just can't ignore. I could make a discord channel for this guide where people can poke in and chat, I am usually around not doing much. EDIT: Here you go, if it doesn't work out, I'll dissolve it in a week or so. -
A Hole in my Breezehome! What could've possibly caused it?
hishutup replied to TehPenguin's question in General Skyrim LE Support
If you want a quick fix, grab the formID from the old save and then open xEdit and search for that FormID. Right-Click the FormID and copy as new record. You can select any file but I'd just copy it to breezehome overhaul and remember not to delete or change that file without first making the same change. This is basically making an identical object that is not *yet* marked for deletion. -
SSE & Modding - The early days
hishutup replied to Pretendeavor's topic in Skyrim Revisited (retired)
So after using wrye for a few weeks with my sort of hectic modding habits, I actually dig it. There are a few "issues" like deleting a mod before uninstalling it will result in the files being left behind. My only real big complaint is that it cannot track mod updates which is frustrating. The nexus gives all the required info in the mod archive filename, the mod id and the version. Other than than one complaint, its pretty awesome, I do miss the manual trouble-free file manipulation outside mo. Another nice addition in WB would be some sort of xml FOMOD handling because Im tired of authors doing a ridiculous amount of nesting with FOMODs, there are some packages that are 4-5 levels deep and are confusing even to me. MO still has its benefits for absurd load orders with merging and inter dependencies, but for the time being WB is great. -
