Please Help - Made The Switch To Mod Organizer And External Installer Never Finishes (Solved Thanks To Grant)

Question

Posted (edited)
So I really need some help. I've googled everything, I've uninstalled, I've reinstalled, the works.

For some reason Mod Organizer will NOT install anything using the external installer. Not no way not no how. I can see it create the folders and files under "mods" but the installer itself never closes and just runs endlessly. Once I Force Close the files that it had placed there are erased. I'm at a complete standstill.  Other mods that do not use an external installer run flawlessly.  I've even tried downloading the beta version 1.3.9 and still no go.

Neither UIO or Project Nevada can go anywhere.  Let the installer run 20+ mins on both.  No go.

No, no problem there with those settings.

Regardless of which setting you state for the fomod installer, since that mod, UIO, has a C# fomod script, the external installer will always be called.

Can you check your AV package to see if it is flagging either MO or any of it's sub folders as problems? It looks like there is another process stalling the actual copying of the files in the installation. My install of 1.3.9 has no issue with any mods, especially fomods like the one in UIO.

Installed the latest beta one now.  1.3.9.  I was using 1.3.8 before.  Thought upgrading might have fixed it.  Thank you so much for taking the time to give me a hand here.

Your ini doesn't look complete, have you been able to start a basic game via MO yet?

I need to see the logs from the 'logs' folder to see where the fomod installer is failing.

Also when you post long text selections could you use the "spoiler" option with the "Special BBCode" (3rd icon) of the edit window or simply place:

[spoiler]
text
[/spoiler]

spoiler tags around it.

Is MO installed away from any UAC folders such as those in "Program Files"?

Thank you.

I haven't tried starting the game via MO yet.  I started it through Steam to create a .ini file and was working on getting some mods installed first.

The installer doesn't actually fail.  It just never finishes.  It runs endlessly  until I force it to close.

No it's installed away from all that on a separate HD in the New Vegas folder.

I actually ran the game through MO.  Here's the ini file again:

Holy ****.  AVG must have been doing something to block it.  I got no pop up, no notification, I don't see anything in the logs but I just disabled it and BOOM.  Installed.  Grant you are my savior and I can't thank you enough.

No problem. Do you mind updating your other reports in Nexus and the Bug Genie?

I edited my post on Nexus.  Not sure what Bug Genie is?  I marked your answer as the one that saved the day!

You have no clue how stupid I feel after wasting five hours trying to fix this.

There was a user on the Bug Genie, MO's official bug tracker, with a similar name and issue and I just assumed it was you. Nevermind, all good, glad everything is as it should be again.
