Recommendations

Instructions are current up to v1.56 to SMIM!

Choose the Custom install option on the first window.

STEP recommends to install all options with the two exceptions being "Furniture Chests" and Xtra Options - Ultra-Sized Textures Addon; the only two options skipped. This is due to a conflict with Detailed Chests for Furniture Chests and because of the extreme texture size for the Xtra Options Addon.

Where multiple choices exist STEP recommends using the following; however, it is the user's choice:

• Barrels

• Modified Vanilla Barrels No Animations

• Food - Tomato Style

• Default Heirloom

• Farmhouse Ropes

• Farmhouse 3D Ropes No Fade
• Performance users can consider using the other two options for better performance.

• Chains 3D - Pull Levers

• Chains 3D - Pull Levers Small Rings

• Farmhouse Woven Fence

• Woven Fence Dense Grey
• If heavy flickering occurs with the fences, either disable or use the light version.

• Tankards

• Dark Brushed Metal Tankards Half-Size Textures

• Hawk

• Choose the option that is appropriate; whether you have or don't have Dragonborn.

• Furniture Textures

• SMIM Default

• Dawnguard Soulcairn Bone Piles

• Bone Piles Yellow Bones

• Hearthfires Stuff

• Install if you have Hearthfire DLC and skip it if you don't.

• Xtra Options - Texture Sizes

• Full Size
• Performance users and those with only 1GB of VRAM or less can consider using Half-Size option for better performance.

• Performance and Baseline users should consider AVOIDING the lanterns altogether, as that add-on includes a texture that is 16x the size of vanilla with a whopping 2K texture! NOTE: Wearable Lanterns also includes a patch for the SMIM lantern, so be certain to include or avoid this accordingly. Additionally, if slow downs are experienced around docks, consider disabling Stockade 3D Ropes.
• StaticMeshImprovementMod.esp is no longer necessary due to 100% overlap with USKP.
