Description[edit | edit source]

What is the "STEP Combined patch exactly? ~z929669 Ixian Insignia.png Talk 12:47, May 6, 2014 (EDT)

So this is something that non-STEP Patch users can use or Pack authors can build a patch from if they can't build it off of another STEP Patch because of compatibility. Also, it serves as the starting point if I need to rebuild the patches from scratch, so I don't have to recombine the SMIM plugins again.EssArrBee (talk) 14:06, May 6, 2014 (EDT)
Also, if we ever make a true compilation this will be it. This plugin could be seen as the starting point for that.EssArrBee (talk) 14:16, May 6, 2014 (EDT)
I imagine that one might also use this (these) kinds of "compound plugins" as masters for the STEP Patches too ... ? ~z929669 Ixian Insignia.png Talk 14:25, May 6, 2014 (EDT)
No need for that. Just make a copy of the plugin in windows explorer and rename it STEP Core Patch. Then just build the STEP Core patch, or whatever patch you need. This plugin shouldn't be a master unless it grows into something much bigger that would require it to be loaded early.EssArrBee (talk) 15:17, May 6, 2014 (EDT)

Purpose[edit | edit source]

The STEP Combined Plugin serves two somewhat related purposes:

  • Reduce the amount of plugins in STEP for those not running strict STEP:Core or STEP:Extended (due to personal preference or downstream Pack requirements).
  • Provide a solution for Pack authors who cannot use either of the STEP Patches due to downstream incompatibilities.

Methods[edit | edit source]

Figure 1. INSERT CAPTION

The main focus of this is to combine the extra plugins included in SMIM. There are three optional plugins included in SMIM and STEP recommends using all of them. This part of the Combined Plugin should be made with the TES5Edit merge script or the Creation Kit. The first plugin adds snow covered chests to the game for the SMIM chests that are already part of the main mod. The second plugin is for adding snow to the cave cliffs textures to get rid of flickering. The last plugin is for the Dragonborn Falseed Tern which needed new textures and model.

Figure 2. INSERT CAPTION

The game setting from No NPC Greetings is included to reduce the annoyance of NPC greetings from far away in game. STEP would like to thank Cipscis for permission to use this mod.

More Salt Please was a mod in STEP for a long time and inspired an addition to the leveled lists. The vendors that sell food will now sell between 1-6 Salt Piles. Making this into a leveled list entry removes compatibility issues that More Salt Please had.

The last part is a set of cell edits made by Hearthfire.esm that forwarded since this plugin is loaded toward the bottom of the load order. They are considered ITMs, but it is important that these records are not overwritten by anything else or there may be problems with Hearthfire homes.
