NOTE that this guide is purposefully and consistently '''written in the third person'''. Why? Because this is professional best practice in that it allows the writer to be more substantive while maintaining an objective prose. It is simply more eloquent a writing style than first or second-person styles. Please edit this and other "guides" according in the third-person (i.e., avoid using the words "I" or "you"). First and second-person writing IS appropriate for less formal content, like articles, blogs and columns. THANKS!

The official stable release for WB is currently 295.5. Additionally, there is also a subversion (SVN) version of WB. This can be thought of as a beta release of WB 296, and as such is still under development. Therefore by installing this version you may run the risk of encountering bugs, potentially game breaking ones. Use at your own risk, you have been warned.

The major advantage of using WB 296 SVN is that it integrates BOSS. Therefore the SVN is particularly useful if you have a large number of plugins to manage and order, as well as if you would like bash tagging for Leveled Lists in the Bashed Patch. In addition to BOSS integration, it is being constantly updated to include various bug fixes.

Download the [http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=1840 Wrye Bash 295.5 installer] under [updates]. Do not download the Game Definition Updates. Run the installer and select only [Skyrim] as well as the [Wrye Bash [Python]] check boxes. Several Python installers will appear. Install each one using the default installer options. Do not select the [Wrye Bash [Standalone]] check box. Ensure that the path points to the correct location of your sykrim\ directory and proceed.

#Navigate to the ''skyrim\'' directory.
#Copy then rename the file 'bash_default.ini' to 'bash.ini,' and place this alongside the former. This INI lets you define many useful things including where Wrye looks for installers. (Be certain to global replace the ‘\Oblivion’ directory references to ‘\Skyrim’ and DO NOT simply do a global replace of ‘Oblivion’ with ‘Skyrim’ or you will break the INI, since certain variable names must remain unchanged even in Skyrim: e.g., ‘sOblivion=’).
#Download the latest SVN [http://oblivionworks.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/oblivionworks/Programs/Wrye%20Bash/ here]. Once you have loaded the web page, click on the Download GNU Tarball link to download an archive contain the SVN. See Figure X as to where the link is.
#Once the archive has been downloaded, open it using WinRAR, and extract the Data and Mopy folders to your Skyrim directory. Say yes to all overwrite requests.
#To launch WB SVN 296, navigate to the Mopy directory and double click on the Wrye Bash Debug.bat file.

You can confirm that the WB SVN has installed properly by observing if the Wrye Bash header on the top left corner of WB reads Wrye Bash 296: Default.
