==== What to expect from the pack: ====
==== What to expect from the pack: ====
* The pack is mostly modular and most mods are optional but the pack is designed around morrowloot and deleveled loot. Suggestions, bash tags etc are based on this premise.
* This used to be a big pack that has now been split into several packs: Dovahkiin reborn, Skyrim Gameplay Rebalance, Deleveled loot and Survival by Smile44.
* Morrowloot removes all random high level loot (dwemer+) an handplaces them in different, logical places. Ebony is very rare. Only one set of daedric armor remains in skyrim and it is spread out. Adds artifacts from previous games.
* This page now features instructions to use STEP: Extended or Core with some or all of the above packs together with REGS if one likes.
* ERSO, which is optional as everything else,  delevels the worlds encounter zones making the world static and independent of player level. You will get mightier as you level up in contrast of vanilla where the world scales with you and enemies gets harder and harder as you level up.
|preinstallation=<div>{{TOC}}</div>
* Enhanced Mighty Dragons or Deadly Dragons transforms the dragons into the mighty creatures they should have been. Level 12-15 are recommended before fighting dragons.

* Different mods overhauls all skills and perks, this includes magic and shouts. The player can choose which perks to use or go with vanilla. Major overhauls included are SkyRe (not functional atm), SPERG and TTR.
* Dragon Soul Relinquishment lets the player use dragon souls to get bonuses or bonus perks.
* New spells and shouts
* New equipment
* Mods that enhance immersion
* Garfinks Skyrim Rebalance Project
|preinstallation=<div>{{TOC right}}</div>

All BOSS rules, LOOT rules and Bash tags are spread throughout the guide. To make it more user friendly they are all compiled in their own section towards the end of the guide.

==== Merging plugins ====
==== Merging plugins ====
It will be necessary to merge plugins if you are using REGS or lots of other mods. This is because Skyrim only allows 255 plugins. Merge them using instructions on this page http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/37981/ Use the default settings but uncheck Renumber FormIDs. We have made a lot of patches (most very small) to keep things modular. These should be merged too. More on that later. Neovalens guide Skyrim Revisited: Legendary Edition contains some insight to other mods that can be merged.

== Other packs ==

==== Weather and Lighting ====
http://wiki.step-project.com/Pack:Weather_and_Lighting <br>
I have not installed Weather and lighting pack to test for conflicts with this pack, but I use many mods from this pack myself and there shouldn't be any conflicts. If there are any conflicts they are minor and nothing to worry about.

==== A real explorers guide to Skyrim (REGS) ====
http://wiki.step-project.com/Pack:Explorers_Guide <br>
I have made patches to make this pack compatible with REGS. Do not install CWI Improved NPCs from Immersive college of winterhold. REGS is modular, which means you can use parts of REGS if you like. A full REGS install with STEP: Extended and Modular Morrowloot Overhaul may (probably) be too much for your computer and the game engine.<br>
The patches for REGS will solve conflicts between MMO and REGS but please note that quest and city mods from REGS includes high level loot that may break some of the philosophy/function from MMO. REGS is still very recommended.

==== Skyrim Revisited: Legendary Edition ====
http://wiki.step-project.com/User:Neovalen/Skyrim_Revisited_-_Legendary_Edition <br>
Skyrim Revisited: Legendary Edition is more of a replacement for STEP than a pack. I do not have time to test for conflicts against SR:LE, but I use some mods and parts of this guide. I will go through the contents of SR:LE and speculate on what should be compatible and what you should look out for:
* 4.1 Unofficial patches
: Already included in STEP
* 4.2 Other fixes
: Some mods here are included in STEP. The others should be safe to use.
* 4.3 User Interface
: Some mods here are included in STEP. The others should be safe to use.
* 4.4.1 World Expansions
: Also included in REGS. Safe to use.¨
* 4.4.2 Weather Systems
: Safe to use. I use these myself.
* 4.4.2 Vividian
: Safe to use. I use this myself.
* 4.4.4 General World Improvement
: Some mods here are included in STEP. The others should be safe to use. I use ELFX and Relighting Skyrim from SR:LE.
* 4:4:5 Clutter and misc
: Some mods here are included in STEP. The others should be safe to use.
* 4.4.6 Landscape and Environment
: Some mods here are included in STEP. The others should be safe to use.
* 4.4.7 Effects
: Some mods here are included in STEP. The others should be safe to use.
* 4.4.8 Modified and Expanded Quests
: Some mods here are included in STEP. The others should be safe to use.
* 4.4.9 Expanded Cities, Towns, and Villages
: Some mods here are included in STEP. The others should be safe to use. Probably not compatible with REGS.
* 4.5 The Creatures Of Skyrim
: Some mods here are included in STEP and some in MMO. The others should be safe to use.
* 4.6 The People of Skyrim
: Some mods here are included in STEP and some in MMO. OBIS has bandits that drops high level loot and shouldn't be used with MMO for that reason. Immersive patrols might be incompatible with REGS/MMO. The rest of the mods should be compatible.
* 4.7 The Armory of Skyrim
: Some mods here are included in STEP and some in MMO. The others should be safe to use.
* 4.8 The Symphony of Skyrim
: Already included in STEP
* 4.9 How The Game Is Played In Skyrim
: Some mods here are included in STEP and some in MMO. ''4.9.3 Economy'' is not compatible with MMO.
<br>
Remember to use the conflict resolution section from SR:LE if you use mods from this guide.

=== Deleveled Skyrim ===
<div style="color:#ccc; text-align:left; font-size:1.4em; font-weight:500; border-style:solid; border-bottom-width:3px; border-color:rgb(200,100,20); padding-bottom:10px; overflow:hidden;">Become mighty, requiem style</div>
<br>{{Notice Small|These deleveleing mods are optional. Please read below!|1}}<br><br>
These mods delevels Skyrim and its encounter zones, just like the popular overhaul requiem does. Doing this is highly optional. With an unleveled world you will be very weak in the beginning. You will have to run from stronger foes. As you grow in power you can take on stronger foes and you will experience how your character grows in power while the world stays static. This may become a problem in higher levels when you become too powerful. There will be no challenge left. <br><br>
Playing without deleveled skyrim but with the other mods in this guide will provide you with a great challenge up to level 100 and beyond. The downside is that you will loose the feeling of you character becoming more powerful as it levels up. <br><br>
What to choose is highly subjective. The creators of this guide all currently plays skyrim without these deleveling mods and Garfinks Skyrim Rebalance Project is made without these mods.<br><br>
All mods in this section can be merged. Don't forget to add bash tags to merged mod to mimic the tags of the mods that were merged.

There are three main overhauls: SPERG, TTR and SkyRe. You can also choose to stay with vanilla if you like.
* To make it easier to choose we will present four main paths and some skill mods to complement the main ones.<br>
==== Path 1: Vanilla ====
Choose to stay with Skyrims default skills and perks if you think most of these are great and you do not want to try any other skill overhauls<br><br>
==== Path 2: TTR Skill overhaul ====
TTR stays close to vanilla and buffs/debuffs perks and balances the skill system. Recommended by Dreadflopp.<br>

=== GSRP - Garfink's Skyrim Rebalance Project ===
<div style="color:#ccc; text-align:left; font-size:1.4em; font-weight:500; border-style:solid; border-bottom-width:3px; border-color:rgb(200,100,20); padding-bottom:10px; overflow:hidden;">A deadlier Skyrim</div>
The aim of GSRP is to remake Skyrim into a might tighter experience without the frustration of too much micromanagement, but still remaining modular enough that the user can adjust his experience by minor changes to the setup. I want to create an even playing field between the hero and the enemies, so you don't need to up the difficulty by making enemies into health-sinks, this is achieved by adjusting sizes of mobs, increasing spawn points, the types of spawns, giving more potions, magicks and perks to the NPCs, improving their AI and allowing NPCs to use enchantments, all the while not nerfing the hero. On the hero side of the equation, I want a build that is robust enough to accommodate all play-styles without any more mods added and also create more different ways to the play the game than ever before.<br>
The other important part of the project is to redesign the economy of the world by making changes that affect all the resources of the game, including an unprecedented modular deleveled loot system, scarce vendor contents and world loot, where mining is essential, where weapon and armor wear is a concern like every other Elder Scroll game to date. Even paused-activities like smithing/alchemy will now add real-game-time hence making the timing of these activities a concern and increase the need for food/water/sleep.<br>
All these changes are designed with other realism mods in mind and is designed to work with Frostfall & the various needs mods. Everything is modular and can be adapted to a variety of combat changes packs, but it has been extensively tested for use with the amazing overhaul Skyrim Redone and one of the best combat improvement mods, Duel Combat V7. Like many other projects of its kind and the ever changing landscape of Skyrim Modding, packs like these will forever need to be updated and evolving, but unlike many other projects, I aim to have a final version in place that is near perfect so that my modding can literally end and playing start.<br>

'''Description:''' Better Leveling has made several Skyrim community uncapper ini's which balances skills and slows down leveling.<br>
'''Author:''' aselnor<br>
'''Optionals:''' None.<br>
'''Special Instructions:''' If you use vanilla or TTR perks, use vanilla ini. If you use SkyRe or SPERG, use the ini for that skill overhaul. Devil edition (not recommended) lets you level faster. Open the ini to make some changes:
* If you want more or fewer perks, change [PerksAtLevelUp]. For vanilla/TTR, I recommend setting it to the following, which will give you a bonus perk every 10th level:
:2=2.2
:3=1.1
* To change health at level up to vanilla, change [HealthAtLevelUp] to
:2=10
* To change magicka at level up to vanilla, change [MagickaAtLevelUp] to
:2=10
* To change stamina at level up to vanilla, change [StaminaAtLevelUp]] to
:2=10
* To nerf how much you can carry, change [CarryWeightAtMagickaLevelUp], [CarryWeightAtStaminaLevelUp] and [CarryWeightAtHealthLevelUp] to, this, which will raise you carry capacity with a total of +300 at level 42. After level 42 you will gain no more carry weight capacity.
:2=10
:22=5
:42=0
* If you want to roleplay and use more hardcore settings, change it to this. This will give you +5 carry weight every time you choose health at level up and none if you choose magicka or stamina.:
:[CarryWeightAtHealthLevelUp]
:2=5
:[CarryWeightAtMagickaLevelUp]
:2=0
:[CarryWeightAtStaminaLevelUp]

== Pack authors custom setups ==
This are the setups the pack authors recommends. Nicopads recommendation was written by him and is rather vague and short but included anyway. Garfinks recommendation is written by me (dreadflopp) and is a qualified guess since both him and Nicopad is missing from the STEP forums.
=== NicoPads's recommendations ===
<div style="color:#ccc; text-align:left; font-size:1.4em; font-weight:500; border-style:solid; border-bottom-width:3px; border-color:rgb(200,100,20); padding-bottom:10px; overflow:hidden;">Recommendations for less powerful computers</div>
These recommendations are due to a somewhat not so powerful computer with limitations (essentially when coming to scripts and spawns). <br />
I recommend using the Delevelled scarcer loot section and leveled world with SPERG.<br />
Use Ace BYOG http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/18474/? to set starting attributes to 5.<br />
Use Better levelling for SPERG.<br />
Difficulty set to Adept.<br />
For ASIS: only use ASIS for potions and npc enchant fix (no additional spawns and autoperks, bandits with 30 or so perks does not seem realistic.)<br />
Trade and barter installed but not started in MCM menu. (caused ctd’s when opening trade menus)<br />
Skytweak : weight to 100. timescale to 10. healthregen : 0,10 fbartermin and max to Garfink setting 3.5 and 7.5<br />

Example: Install "The Skyrim Distance Overhaul". This mod is already installed with STEP. Therefore, rename the mod to "The Skyrim Distance Overhaul SR LE". You will now have noth mods installed. On the left hand in MO, sort "The Skyrim Distance Overhaul SR LE" directly after "The Skyrim Distance Overhaul". Activate "The Skyrim Distance Overhaul SR LE", deactivate "The Skyrim Distance Overhaul".
Do this for the following mods:

'''ASIS patcher'''
When running the ASIS patcher, only select NPC enchantment fix. The reaswon for this is that my computer couldn't handle all scripts and that I was that fond of all extra spawns.
Because of the removal of increased spawns, raise the in-game difficulty setting to adept.

* Click patch. The patcher will finish
* Run the Dynamic patch for Dual sheath redux through MO.
: In the settings of the Dual Sheath Redux you can change which biped slots should be used for left and right biped. These can be changed so they do not use the same slot as any other equipment mod does. If the use the same slot, one of them won't show. I recommend changing it to the slots Neovalen (author of both Dual Sheath Redux and the guide/pack [[User:Neovalen/Skyrim_Revisited_-_Legendary_Edition|Skyrim Revisited: Legendary Edition]]) uses since we have several equipment mods in common. Changing biped slots may not be necessary and this recommendation may change.<br>

Left Biped Slot: 54
Right Biped Slot: 45
* Click patch. The patcher will finish
* Run the ReProccer through MO

Modular Morrowloot Overhaul

What to expect from the pack:

  • This used to be a big pack that has now been split into several packs: Dovahkiin reborn, Skyrim Gameplay Rebalance, Deleveled loot and Survival by Smile44.
  • This page now features instructions to use STEP: Extended or Core with some or all of the above packs together with REGS if one likes.

|preinstallation=

STEP: Extended

  • Skyrim Coin Replacement Redux needs to be removed as it is not compatible with gold adjustments from Deleveled loot. You will get too much gold if you use Skyrim Coin Replacement Redux
  • It is recommended to uninstall/untick Enhanced Blood textures and remove Enhanced Blood textures dependency from the STEP Extended patch. This is to save computer power and leave room for other scripted mods.
Open TES5Edit through MO
Untick all plugins except STEP Extended patch.esp and click OK
Delete the following (by right-clicking them and choose remove)
Example: Right-click on the entry 0D021D40 and choose remove. Do NOT remove the whole Magic effect entry

STEP Extended Patch.esp
	Magic Effect
		xx021D40
		xx0232D1
		xx024DC5
		xx03300A
	Spell
		xx03300B
	Impact
		000193B2
		000C190E
		000F0EAF
		000F0EB0
		000F0EB1
		000F0EB2
	Impact Data Set
		000189FD
		000193CA
		00097785
		000E4CB0
		000E64AA

Right-click STEP Extended Patch.esp and choose clean masters
If you uninstall Enhanced blood textures, use Brawls Bug Patch from the STEP guide.
If you want an alternative to Enhanced blood textures, try Better blood splatter
  • Uninstall/untick Skyrim Coin Replacement Redux and remove Skyrim Coin Replacement Redux dependency from the STEP Extended patch since it breaks the functionality from the mods in the section "deleveled scarcer loot".
Open TES5Edit through MO
Untick all plugins except STEP Extended patch.esp and click OK
Delete the following (by right-clicking them and choose remove)
Example: Right-click on the entry 00015257 and choose remove. Do NOT remove the whole Cell entry

STEP Extended Patch.esp
	Cell
		Block 5
			Sub-Block 1
				00015257

Right-click STEP Extended Patch.esp and choose clean masters
  • Other mods that may have a negative impact on stability due to the use of scripts are Footprints and Wet and cold. If your game is not stable, try without these mods. The STEP patch is not dependent on the plugins from these mods. They can therefore be uninstalled without any further steps.

Utilities

You should make yourself familliar with the following utilities:

BOSS, LOOT and Bash tags

The recommended way of sorting your plugins is with LOOT, which is used by STEP. This guide previously used BOSS to sort plugins. I'm leaving all old BOSS rules in the guide for users who still uses that.

Merging plugins

It will be necessary to merge plugins if you are using REGS or lots of other mods. This is because Skyrim only allows 255 plugins. Merge them using instructions on this page https://stepmodifications.org/wiki/User:Neovalen/Skyrim_Revisited_-_Legendary_Edition/Mod_Merging Make sure you use version 1.9+ of the merged script found here. I have made a lot of patches (most very small) to keep things modular. These should be merged too. More on that later. Neovalens guide Skyrim Revisited: Legendary Edition contains some insight to other mods that can be merged.

Modularity

If you want to do a custom install of STEP, check the patches section to learn which mods from STEP that are required for the patches to work.

Post-Installation Configuration

Patches

Conflict resolution

All patches can be found here.
https://goo.gl/6y6qfQ

There are 4 files in the download folder: replacement plugins and leveled lists, regular patches and My conflict resolution patches witch are used in my custom install. There is also a bashed patch patch, read more about that last in this section:

Download Modular Morrowloot Overhaul replacement plugins and leveled lists. These plugins removes high level loot from the leveled lists. This download contains replacement plugins for the following plugins:

  • Complete Crafting_TrueWeaponsLvlLists.esp (from Complete Crafting overhaul)

It also contains leveled lists for the following mods:

  • Lore weapon expansion
  • Weapons and armor fixes (works for both True orcish or deadric weapons AND complete version)
  • Morrowloot

All these plugins can and should be merged into the bashed patch. If wrye bash doesn't automatically deactivate the mods afterwards you can do this manually.

Download Modular Morrowloot Overhaul patches. Install all patches that are relevant to your install. Sort them in numeric order. If two or more patches uses the same number you are supposed to only use one of them. This is very important, never use two plugins with the same number.

The following mods are required to use the STEP Core patches:

  • The unofficial patches
  • Consistent older people
  • Guard dialogue overhaul
  • Clothing and clutter fixes remade
  • Weapons and armor fixes remade
  • Audio overhaul Skyrim
  • Cutting room floor
  • Improved Closefaced Helmet

The following mods are required to use the STEP Extended patches:

  • The unofficial patches
  • Bring out your dead
  • Enchanting awakened
  • Consistent older people
  • Guard dialogue overhaul
  • Clothing and clutter fixes remade
  • Weapons and armor fixes remade
  • Audio overhaul Skyrim
  • Cutting room floor
  • Improved Closefaced Helmet
  • Animated weapons enchants
  • Thieves guild requirements
Just one patch for Thieves guild requirements, 780 - NPC Knockout Overhaul - Thieves guild requirements (STEP Extended) patch

Merging

To save plugin slots and to make sure the load order between the patches doesn't get messed up it is recommended to merge all patches. Use the tutorial to merge the patches.

Make sure the patches are sorted in numeric order before merging. Name the merged plugin "MMO merged"

LOOT Rules:

  • MMO merged.esp Set global priority 990400

Load order

Sort your merged MMO patch followed by the NO_MERGE patch just before the bashed patch.

Bash tags

Add the bash tags names and stats to the merged MMO patch using wrye bash.

Other mods

If you have installed followers mods that alters existing NPCs, these will need patching as they conflicts with several mods. Simply forward any conflicting follower mod record and add to your own conflict resolution patch(es), placed after our patches

Bashed patch patch

This is my own patch that I use to fix problems with the bashed patch. Using this is optional but if you do use it, make sure to check its content with TES5Edit to make sure its fixes applies to your install and bashed patch.

Final Steps

Almost done
