Version Recommendations - 3.3

Better Planet Generation (BPG) greatly expands the biomes and diversity of planets. However, there are a few things to be aware of before installing BPG:

  1. Due to BPG design, players may not be able to completely scan all planets. This may break related quests.
With that said, the question of why BPG is in the Guide is likely to come up. The answer is, what BPG brings to the game experience far outweighs these potential negatives for most long-term players. Once BPG is experienced, the game feels barren without it.
  2. Due to BPG's terrain manipulation, once Better Planet Generation is installed it must remain for the duration of that save.
  3. There may be prolonged waiting periods between when the game updates and when Better Planet Generation updates for compatibility.
This depending on the severity of the issue(s) caused from a game update. It's not been uncommon for such periods to be months in length, in which time games with BPG may be unplayable.
The best practice when BPG is opted for installation is to maintain two separate games/saves. One with BPG present and one without it. This will allow players to continue to play and use this Guide while BPG is recovering from game updates.

WARNING:
Read the paragraphs above before installing this mod!

The LUA files by Babscoole will be used for merging BPG with the rest of the Guide.

  1. Visit Babscoole's GitHub repository to download the required files
    • If starting a new game or upgrading an existing save with BPG already present, download: ___MOD_BETTER_PLANET_GENERATION-Extract...folder.7z
    • If BPG will be used on a save that has never had it installed before, download: ___MOD_BPG_LITE-Extract...folder.7z
This version excludes terrain generation; thus, prevents preexisting bases from being buried, floated, etc.
  2. Click on the desired file to open it's page, and click the download button to download the file

  3. Select and extract the LUA file and the GlobalMEFTI folder to the ModScript folder in AMUMSS: ..\AMUMSS\ModScript
