Type a version string using the format indicated by the placeholder text below. Copy/paste the intended guide version from the "Existing Guides" table above (if it exists) into the field below. For unofficial user-created guides, use the format indicated by the placeholder text. Editors: Please DO NOT use wiki headings inside of custom Recommendations and also avoid using templates if at all possible! Template calls add to the max threshold, and headings mess up the guide ToC.

Recommendations

This is the Official DLC from Bethesda. It should be listed right after the Unofficial Dawnguard Patch in the left pane of Mod Organizer. Optimized textures from Hearthfire should be placed directly after it. Also, Hearthfires.esm must be cleaned in TES5Edit:

  1. Make a backup of Hearthfires.esm from <skyrim>/data directory by copying it to the desktop (or somewhere else handy).
  2. Clean Hearthfires.esm.
    • Run TES5Edit through Mod Organizer.
    • Right-click the list of plugins and choose Select None.
    • Double-click Hearthfires.esm.
    • Wait for the Background Loader: finished message in the right panel, and then right-click Hearthfires.esm and select Apply Filter For Cleaning.
    • Wait for the [Filtering done] message in the right panel, and then right-click Hearthfires.esm and select Remove "Identical to Master" records. If the Warning! prompt pops up, click Yes, I'm absolutely sure.
    • Wait for the [Removing "Identical to Master" records done] message, and then right-click Hearthfires.esm and select Undelete and Disable References.
    • Wait for the [Undeleting and Disabling References done] message, and then click the [X] to exit the program
    • At the prompt, make sure Hearthfires.esm is checked and click OK.
  3. After cleaning, there shall be files in Overwrite (essentially a fake mod located at the bottom of the left pane if sorted by priority ascending) created by TES5Edit.
    • Locate the TES5Edit Backups mod created during the Update.esm cleaning process.
    • Double-click Overwrite to open it.
    • Drag the TES5Edit Backups folder from Overwrite to the TES5Edit Backups mod. This will keep them in an organized and safe location. The files have no impact on the game.
  4. Place the cleaned Hearthfires.esm in a new mod inside Mod Organizer
    • Go to <ModOrganizer>/mods and create a new folder called Cleaned Hearthfire ESM.
    • Copy the cleaned Hearthfires.esm from <skyrim>/data to the Cleaned Hearthfire ESM directory.
    • Enable the Cleaned Hearthfire ESM mod in Mod Organizer's left pane by ticking the checkbox.

The Cleaned Hearthfire ESM mod should be placed between HearthFires and Unofficial Hearthfire Patch in Mod Organizer's left pane.
