Free (or Cheap) Games & Giveaways
TechAngel85 replied to EssArrBee's topic in General Game Discussion
Dying Light Enhanced Edition is free on Epic Games until April 13th! -
You shouldn't see any difference with this, since we're using Radiant Candles; nor is it compatible with Radiant. Radiant already has only one ENB light source per mesh besides the chandeliers, which has 4 in Radiant vs this one's single use. I keep seeing mods being considered for ENB lights. It MUST be understood that ENB lights are mesh-level edits. This means that these types of mods will not be compatible with one another unless patches are made. Period. So if you install this, you're overwriting all edits from Radiant where they conflict and you will end up with different colors lights, different light radii, etc. My opinion is that this mod would be completely useless in our Guide. Radiant already has ENB lights at their maximum radius for each light. This is a very short radius for a light source, to be honest, so the fact this mod is making them smaller is concerning for any sort of realism. The max distance isn't very realistic on its own and is the reason chandeliers have 4 in Radiant. Radiant also does a couple things other mods don't do. One being that the lights are moved away from the flame to a degree. This prevents sources like wallscones and table-top candles from being oversaturated on surfaces (a common issue ENB lights). Second thing Radiant does that others don't is match the ENB light color to popular lighting mods. To my knowledge, Radiant Candles is the only mod that offers color matching.

ACCEPTED Realistic Water Two SE (by isoku/SparrowPrince/TechAngel85)
TechAngel85 replied to TechAngel85's topic in Skyrim SE Mods
I wouldn't ever recommend removing references that you don't know what they do. It's not going to cause any issues beside maybe some pop-in. The problem is that DynDOLOD, the version I'm running, no longer spits out a Large Reference list (since it's fixing them on the fly). This needs to be reported on the RWT mod page. I don't track bugs over here, so it's just going to get lost and forgotten about if not reported in the proper place.- 72 replies

Re-spawn/replace own NPC house guard
TechAngel85 replied to Daimonicon's topic in General Skyrim SE Discussion & Support
You'll likely just going to have to experiment on this one. I'm not super familiar with all the mechanics at play here. Logic would suggest killing and respawning them would use the updated record; however, we all know stuff is baked into saves. What's baked there is what is in question. If baked, they will more than likely be pulled from the save and not the new record. One way that should work would be to simple duplicate the actors into new records and replace the old references with the new ones. That should force the new records to be used as they will also be new to the game (new formID). -
Foliage noise/grain issue

I was just fixing to suggest it was likely AA. You can try different methods. I use the game's TAA. -
This is AI upscaled and not very well. Just look at the detail loss and all the issues: https://staticdelivery.nexusmods.com/mods/1704/images/70272/70272-1656254867-262184768.jpeg Leather texture is destroyed, corner detail is destroyed, front detailing with deer and tree is way too sharped to the point edges are way over exaggerated. https://staticdelivery.nexusmods.com/mods/1704/images/70272/70272-1656254866-1344367023.jpeg Same here. Texture on the book is destroyed. Wording is way over exaggerated. This is why you don't batch process upscales!!!

FEEDBACK v2.4.0 - Feedback & Bug Reports
TechAngel85 replied to TechAngel85's topic in Step No Man's Sky Guide
Status update: True to their chaotic releases, HelloGames has been pushing out update after update since Fractal landed. Modders hardly have time to rest and others have just decided to wait it out. Step, unfortunately, is on the latter end of that; waiting it out. As such, there is no ETA on when the Guide will be stable again. -
I found Khajiits and it doesn't make any difference due to the fur. It just always looks like a line. I think CoverKhajiits was better than vanilla after seeing it in-game for some time. The faces were much better detailed and the neck line wasn't as bad. I wasn't able to find any Argonians, as the normal places to look didn't have them present...likely AIO causing them to move about.

TESTING Rally's Torchbugs (by Rallyeator)
TechAngel85 replied to TechAngel85's topic in Skyrim SE Mods
They're not too big for anything game-wise. It would be a personal preference. -
It would mainly be on the beast races and I know the Khajiits have a seam. I haven't looked for any to see if it fixed on them yet. I only tested it see what it was doing with Tempered Skin and it needs to be place above it in the list for testing. I haven't had the motivation for any modding, but I could probably test tomorrow sometime.

Discussion topic: Detailmap Seamfix by zzjay Wiki Link This helps to hide neck seams on actors when the blankdetailmap texture isn't included by authors. Since Step currently uses some vanilla textures for beast races, it would be a good idea to test this for the Guide. Tech: I have done some very light testing by allowing this mod to overwrite Tempered Skins, since those mods include the blankdetailmap texture. Results were mostly worse seams than before; therefore, I would recommend the placement of this mod to be before the Tempered Skins mods; allowing them to overwrite this one.

I've seen the shrines. They deviate from vanilla too much to be in Step, but they are, indeed, very beautiful.

Discussion topic: Rally's Torchbugs by Rallyeator Wiki Link Looks like a good mesh and texture replacer with ENBSeries Complex Particle Lights compatibility. Covers both torchbugs and bliss bugs, including their jars. These are currently vanilla textures in Step. Acceptance of this would allow dropping:

FEEDBACK v2.4.0 - Feedback & Bug Reports
TechAngel85 replied to TechAngel85's topic in Step No Man's Sky Guide
Status update: I've decided to advance the Guide a version for this update, but am expecting it to be a small update. MBINCompiler has updated for testing. The Step Resource files tested well and are good to use, as is, for those still wanting to play. However, there are still several mods that are pending updates for Fractal. These are all mostly mods that include edits to model files, since Fractal updated most these files. The big one being Better Planet Generation, which is reported working without crashes. However, there may be some performance dips or wonkiness with some models until BPG is updated. Once the majority of the mods in the Guide are updated, the new Guide will be released. -
ACCEPTED Smooth Shores Patches (by Step Modifications)
TechAngel85 replied to TechAngel85's topic in Skyrim SE Mods
You mean SLaWF? It'll be best to make a Bug Report on the page. Else, I'll likely forget to check it when I get back around to updating some of these mods.- 18 replies

FEEDBACK v2.4.0 - Feedback & Bug Reports
TechAngel85 replied to TechAngel85's topic in Step No Man's Sky Guide
Guide is currently not compatible with NMS v4.1 (Fractal) update. When the modding tools are updated for the latest changes to the game, one of two things will happen. Depending on the impact of the update, the Guide will either be updated as compatible "as-is" or a new version of the Guide will be released. -
GUIDE Community Citizenship Guidelines
TechAngel85 replied to frihyland's topic in Community Information
The Guidelines have been updated: The entirety of the Guidelines has been reworked with a lot of information added, removed, moved around, and/or updated. Plenty of extra links were added to get to the information when it's presented (like contacting staff). The overall heading formatting has also been updated to help visually separate the information. All members are encouraged to read through the updated document. -
The Guide has been updated, again: Quoted previous update for convenience The Display Calibration section at the end of the Guide has been reworked. The Staff recently re-discovered the vast differences between monitors as we've upgraded our personal systems. This section has been updated to reflect the fact that there is too great a difference between monitors for Step to reliably provide any sort of "standardize" instruction for this calibration. As such, we're providing links to RTINGS's guide for the calibration process. RTINGS are independent professionals who provide reviews of computer electronics, including monitors. The products they review are voted on by their community and are not paid for by any company; allowing them to provide bias free reviews. During their process for monitors they use professional calibration equipment to provide the most accurate color calibration possible. They will usually provide a ready-to-use, professionally calibrated ICC profile for download.

The Guide has been updated: The Modding Folder section has been tidied by removing some verbiage, organizing the structure, and adding a note that a SDD/M2 drive is recommended. Miscellaneous subsection added to the Tools Installation and Setup section for programs like 7-zip and Notepad++. Adjusted some spacing within Tools Installation and Setup section for emphasis. Corrected the file folder structure example at the end of Tools Installation and Setup section.

Awesome! So rotated LOD can't be fixed without editing the mesh. Mesh editing is outside my realm of knowledge (basics in Nifskope is all I can do). I appreciate you handling that. So if I'm understanding this right, the rules I posted are working. They're just being converted into dynamic LOD and the switching on/off that I'm seeing is the threshold of near switching into far. ...and since there is no actual LOD, there is nothing to display at the far range. If that is correct, I think I understand now. I can update the mod and I'll provide comment that LOD issues should resolve on the next Resources/Alpha update.
