HotAssassin Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 (edited) 66 hours into my current play through, which is my first with FaLiNV, I have started crashing whenever I try to move to a new area or fast travel. I tried loading previous saves, it happens with all of them. I'm currently doing OWB, if that's relevant. I have Willow and J.T. with me. I've tried making them wait behind, unequipping everything, rerunning LOOT. Any one know what might cause this? Have not quite figured out how to post my load order with MO just yet, or I'd post it. Edit 2: Ok, so what I've found so far is that Event Viewer is showing this: Exception code: 0xc0000409 I think at this point I should mention that I am used the Update Version of Windows 10, upgraded from Windows 8.1. That said, I did that upgrade before I did the clean install of FNV and subsequent modding. On Winwiki.org https://winwiki.org/exception-code-0xc0000409/ I found a tool that claims to fix this problem, but I have not experienced the issue with any other programs. I think right now I'm going to run Malwarebytes just to be sure I don't have anything lurking, before I do anything else. *Thanks for fixing my post, GrantSP. Audley Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 Well, your load order isn't the best but it shouldn't be causing a repeated crash on fast travel. It's hard to know with a game like this what could be causing this. The problem with LOOT is that it it doesn't really account for the most optimal load order and really only fixes the largest issues. This is why a manual load order is always the best; or at the very least a tweaked LOOT load order. However, this isn't something I would really expect new players to know how to do optimally. Though like I said I doubt it's load order causing the issue. The first thing I would try personally is first backing up all my saves. Then I would go and delete both .ini files from my Mod Organizer>Profiles folder and then regenerate them. Go ahead and add in back the tweaks in the guide but leave out the light distance tweak and the grass fade distance tweak. They personally destroy my performance and could cause game instability. Make sure you aren't adding a lot of tweaks to your .ini files. They should be mostly vanilla. Then try your game and make a clean save and try to see if that fixes your issue. The second thing I would try is to first re-generate my Bashed Patch. However, before you do this you should make sure you back up and put somewhere safe your current Bashed Patch as you may need to revert if something goes wrong. After backing up your Bashed Patch, go ahead and re-generate it and make sure you follow the instructions carefully. Check those two things and if the crashing still continues we can move on from there. Cheers, Audley
GrantSP Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 The Windows exception error leads me to believe your crashes aren't necessarily due to load order, but rather a software error. Possibly a NVSE plugin is bugging out? Can you tell if it happens around the same time CASM is due to save your game?I would however consider examining the "easier" options first, such as suggested by @Audley.

oqhansoloqo Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 To do the DLC quests - I'm wondering if there's a way to dismiss Willow so she returns to her default place (assuming you are already her boyfriend/girlfriend), the suite in Novac. J.T. might go to the NCR Outpost SW corner of the map when you do that with it. I'm not sure, but I think I remember hearing that other followers had to actually be dismissed and not just told to wait somewhere for many of the DLCs to work. That may or may not include Willow and J.T., since they aren't vanilla followers. It's been a while since I played though...
MonoAccipiter Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 You have to dismiss all your companions when entering the Divide atleast, though I don't remember exactly from the other two (HH and Dead Money, as OWB allows companions with Yukichigai's changes IIRC). That includes custom companions (I've been playing with Jorge, the BoS Paladin companion mod), though I did have a strange bug where sometimes the normal ED-E would appear when I exited a building and I had to recruit and dismiss him to make him leave again.

I'm on round 6 (or 9 depending on how you count) and nothing is quite as frustrating as a total wipe.
