rootsrat Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 Big big kudos for arranging for the forum to be available on tapatalk! I hate browsing forums via mobile browser, TT is so much more convenient! Just thought it's worth mentioning :) Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
rootsrat Posted November 14, 2012 Author Posted November 14, 2012 I have a proper phone haha! Tt is very convenient though, more than a browser :) Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
stoppingby4now Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 Z929669 setup TT for us, he's the man!
Farlo Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 I've been meaning to check out that app, is it really worth the measly $3? The desktop website isn't that horrible on my Nexus S.
rootsrat Posted November 14, 2012 Author Posted November 14, 2012 I have Galaxy SII and although it has quite a large screen and Chrome is brilliant mobile browser as of the latest version, I highly recommend the app. That of course depends how many forums you visit and if you need access on the go, but I take that as an Admin you would love this app. I am a forum owner myself and I cannot reiterate how useful this is in terms on managing forums while you're out of PC/laptop access. TT is designed specifically to browse forums, nothing else.
Besidilo Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 I've been meaning to check out that app' date=' is it really worth the measly $3? The desktop website isn't that horrible on my Nexus S.[/quote'] Nexus S not receiving any further updates from Google, time to upgrade to Nexus 4! Seriously though, I browse the forum on my Nexus 7 and Tapatalk sucks for anything but reading short messages. Even on my SGS I prefer to use the browser (although not mobile Chrome, that sucks too :p). Any phone with a large enough screen and high resolution will render the forums just fine, unless you're severely shortsighted.
rootsrat Posted November 15, 2012 Author Posted November 15, 2012 I would say that this is a matter of personal preference and taste, and I assure I am not shortsighted, however I do wear glasses :P
z929669 Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 I also hate mobile web browsing. Much prefer tapatalk, as you get everything sorted properly. latest posts all in one place, PM alerts, subscription alerts, etc. IOW, I don't mind vertical scrolling at all, but I hate small buttons and zooming in/out and side-scrolling. PITA
TechAngel85 Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 Which version do you guy recommend? There's Tapatalk 4 (free public beta) Tapatalk ($2.99) - I'm guessing this is just the mainstream app. Tapatalk HD ($4.99) - I'm guess this version comes with a few extras.
rootsrat Posted August 3, 2013 Author Posted August 3, 2013 Tapatalk HD is more for tablets. I would go with 2.99 one, unless you will use it on tablet, then definitely go with HD.
phazer11 Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 I personally never cared much for tapatalk (used it a couple times a year or so ago). Anyways I have no problems using a web browser on my tablet, I can't say the same for my phone despite it's large screen... But my tablet is almost everywhere my phone goes so no matter. I use a ASUS Transformer btw and the default browser and dolphin browser are quite good. Firefox for Android is still quite atrocious. I actually use my tablet for checking things like conflicts when I'm installing mods or performing a fresh Skyrim Revisited install and need to make sure I copy the right things over.
TechAngel85 Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 Thanks, Root. It's for my phone (Galaxy S2). I have a table but rarely use it. As far as browsers, Dolphin is my browser of choice on my phone (Firefox on computer); however, I recently switched over to Opera. Since the recent update to Dolphin, it seems to have taken a crap on my phone. Some say it's working fine for them while others (like me) are having a horrible time with it (text doesn't show up when searching or typing, crashing randomly, not responsive to touch in certain areas, settings won't open, etc etc). Firefox seems to be too resource heavy because I notice my battery drains quickly while using it. So I'm just sticking to Opera for now. Seems to be working great so far.
TechAngel85 Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 Okay, so I have Tapatalk 4 downloaded and installed and account verified. How do I log into the STEP forum? I have it pulled up and can read the forums; however, I can find no conceivable way to log into the forum from Tapatalk to reply and post using the program. Does the plug-in need to be updated for use with Tapatalk 4 or...am I just plain dumb?
