Dragon Combat Overhaull with SRLE , conflict resolution required ?

I decided to make this its own thread

It always annoyed me how in vanilla Skyrim ,   Dragons always get injured at 35 % health upon which they could no longer fly  , this turns dragon fights into a predictable  pattern that repeats over and over again  .

Another major  problem  with vannilla  dragons  is  that  if you  kill one  in midair said dragon will keep happily flying around  burning everything  until it decides to land , and then promptly dies  upon touchdown

Enter  Dragon combat  overhaul

with this ,Dragons re now unpredictable in their actions  and can still fly even after the 35 % mark , they get new abilities  ,powers  and can even call in reinforcements  and use limit breaks to make your life miserable  .

Also now when a dragon gets  killed while in the air  it will go ragdoll and fall out of the sky  or like in the old trailers  piledrive into the ground . also dragons have 3 new death animations

In short , for me this is a must have mod .

I want to use this mod with SRLE  .

There is just one problem ,  it conflicts with  both No spinning death  animation mod and  Violens .

How should these conflicts  be resolved in  TES5Edit ?

Is there even a need to do Conflict resolution  with these mods ?

There is a version of No spinning death animation that doesn't make changes to dragons which shouldn't conflict. I think you should let DCO overwrite Violens to show DCO's custom death animation but you could try both to see which one you want. I don't believe that there is a way that is right, it's just user preference.

Will look for that version , also for the violens  resolution , i should  just put DCO Underneath  Violens  in the left pane , right ?

You will pull your hair out with Miraak fight bug. I did.

I am aware this Mod  breaks  the scripting of the dragons in that fight making it unwinnable and is the primary reason i think why Neo is not including it  in SRLE

I remember that the author  was looking into the problem ,but now that DCO is the last upload i don't think that is going to happen , which is a shame  ( if it was fixable without breaking anything else  to begin with ofcourse  )

On  previous playthroughs  i uninstalled it before the fight  and re enabled it afterwards  and while that might not be the best thing to do for your save file , i encountered no problems afterwards . ( that was with a much lighter modded game though )

@ dreadflopp  , do you happen to have a link to that NSDA version ? My google-fu seems to be weak atm :p

@Thorgal

You are correct, that's why it's not included... Doesn't stop me from using it personally but that's cause I almost never fight Miraak/Do a full playthrough.

Dragon Combat Overhaul does indeed break the final battle with Miraak, making it impossible to complete.

I ran into this problem last week and was cursing until I figured out how to fix it.  The fix is actually pretty simple.

  1. Load Dragonborn.esm and Dragon Combat Overhaul.esp in xEdit.
  2. In the left pane, go to Dragon Combat Overhaul.esp --> Magic Effect and select DCOApplyingEffect.
  3. In the right pane, scroll all the way to the bottom.
  4. Scroll back up until you find two conditions that mention GetInCurrentLoc Apocrypha (the exact names are different, but they both contain "Apocrypha").
  5. For one of these two conditions, right click the Condition header and select Remove to delete the condition.
  6. Edit the remaining condition to use the following values (for the 4th line, replace xx with the ID that xEdit displays to the left of Dragonborn.esm...probably 03, but maybe something else).
    • Equal to
    • 0.0
    • GetIsID
    • DLC2lvlDragon_MQ06 [NPC_:xx03D5B5]
    • 00 00 00 00
    • Subject
    • 0
    • -1

And that's all.  Easy!

The mod author tried to fix this bug via the two GetInCurrentLoc Apocrypha conditions, but the conditions don't work.  But checking for "Equal to / False / GetIsID / DLC2lvlDragon_MQ06" works perfectly.

The Nexus mod page for Dragon Combat Overhaul is currently hidden, but hopefully this information is helpful for anyone who already has the mod.
