merged no cheat EssArrBee additional weapons discrepancy question(step 8 - 9)

Question

Posted

just wanted to bring attention to and ask a question about this step (8 - 9) from the creating the merged no cheat EssArrBee additional weapons plugin

"Right click on 01000AF2 - Placed Object - DasContainer and select "Remove"    the problem is that the id (at least the id I had, I assume it is changed globally but I am not sure) actually read 06000AF2...  I skipped this step and everything seems to be working fine but I wanted to ask if it might cause problems.  also will skipping this step affect the "no cheat" functionality of the plugin?  thanks for any answers provided, I hope this is a worthwhile/non annoying thing to ask about :)

First of all, when you are creating the merge of the weapons, I'm assuming that you are only merging the 13 intended .esps and not the other 5 DLC .esps also (since you can select those too, undesirably).

I just fixed the merging instructions after I redid my own merge of the mods.  Thank you for pointing out the 1>6 number issue - the number was off.  In addition to this, I did in fact find an error line under CrossbowForms to remove as well.  After doing all of this the game loaded fine, so I don't know what is wrong with your setup.

The ID number won't matter.  Perhaps I should have left the ID part out of the instructions and just said "######## - Placed Object - DasContainer".  Could you check on one thing for me though - in step 10 of the merging instructions, where it has you remove the error lines that look like this: "[FormID Here] < Error: Could not be resolved >", can you see if there are any of those lines for the crossbow mod?  I did not see any when I did my own, and thus I didn't mention doing this for the crossbow mods.  Someone else in the forums said they did see an error line though.  If I get word from a second person that they saw an error line, then I will re-do my own installation to see for myself and then edit the instructions in the guide.

If you left the crossbow mod as is, then you could suffer from severe FPS issues when in Goodsprings.  The merge edit is a fix for this, which is a problem common to many people who use the mod.

I haven't actually looked at if removing that container is a viable solution. I was thinking it would be better place the container in a test cell instead so it never gets loaded. I wish the author was still around so I could just fix it myself.

I remember you commenting about that way of fixing it.  I don't know how to make that fix, but someone else (LoneWolf, was it?) provided the container removal fix.  The guide needed some way to fix the problem I briefly (not extensively) tested it and saw no FPS issues so I provided it to others in the guide.  Since the edit involves removing a container that provides a cache of crossbow parts I decided to put this under the "No Cheats" merging instructions.  I asked for feedback from others on this change so that I could gauge its effectiveness and modify the instructions if others notice issues.

Ok so I tried the edit where I remove the 06000AF2 placed object das container as per instructions - this results in the game infini loading right before the main menu pops up.  any ideas why or possible fixes?  I tried the game without that one particular edit as well and yes, I did get the framerate drop in Goodsprings, but the game did at least load that far.  also checked for the could not be resolved error for the crossbow mod and didn't see any....

is it the crossbow weapons in particular that are related to this issue?  could I work around for now by creating a version of the EssArrBee no cheats merged mod without the crossbows?

My issue turns out to have been entirely user error - I simply didn't see the error on the form id for crossbows when I looked for it the first time.  removed the error and problem solved.  many thanks!  made a donation to step to show some gratitude for the great help and this great guide.  I think I *finally* have a workable F and L setup now  after almost two weeks of learning and modding.

If that was the issue, it wasn't user error.  It was my error.  Sorry for previously neglecting to mention removing the error line under CrossbowForms in the guide.  I'm glad it all worked out for you.  :)  EssArrBee is the one to thank for the guide.  I merely made a few small edits to his work.

Usually when you delete something from a plugin you'll have to close and reopen the plugin in xEdit to see the error. That's why I say to delete Cell record then close and reopen the merged plugin.
