oqhansoloqo Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 (edited) Dawn of the Dawnguard Armor by redtox https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/64559/ I see that nothing in the STEP guide covers these armors, but we do now have a mod covering Dawnguard's vampire armors in the upcoming version of STEP... I am tagging this mod for consideration for testing. The screenshots look good and look true enough to vanilla style. Worth at least getting some compares and considering for the guide? Octopuss Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 It's irrelevant to the content of the mod, but all I can say at this point is the author should suffer for the "font" used in the description. I'd take Comic Sans Ms over this anytime of a day. I seriously cannot read the damn text!! :O_o:
oqhansoloqo Posted April 11, 2015 Author Posted April 11, 2015 lol - I saw a lot of others complain about that in the Nexus forum.
Octopuss Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 Haha! Seriously, what's wrong with good old plain text?I'll check the textures when my brain switches on again :P
oqhansoloqo Posted April 12, 2015 Author Posted April 12, 2015 I honestly don't even know how to use the console to get any Dawnguard items to spawn in my inventory (was never able to use it to get a crossbow to even see what they are like...), and I only have a save near the beginning of the game, so no. Don't you have to be level 10 to initiate the DLC?
TechAngel85 Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 coc qasmoke Go to the armors locker and grab them from there.
Neovalen Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Based on this vid, I'm not overly impressed with this mod. 1

Based on this vid, I'm not overly impressed with this mod. That's an understatement! They are very... different. The shield looks good though.Unless the mod has changed a lot since that video was made, and the screenshots taken, to make the armours anything like vanilla, I'd have to vote no.
TechAngel85 Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Based on that video, that would be a no vote.
oqhansoloqo Posted April 14, 2015 Author Posted April 14, 2015 (edited) Yeah, I agree. The video was what really showed the difference - thanks for linking that. I didn't see it until now. I actually thought that what I was seeing on the Nexus page were a couple different color variations that actually exist in the vanilla game - didn't realize it was before and after pics of the same exact piece or armor with and without the mod. I guess what I noticed originally that caught my attention was the shield and the metal helmet texture details. Looking at the full set of armor close-up in the video, I see that the uniformity of color amongst armor pieces doesn't really look as good as the original set of armor. I'm removing my testing tag. lol EDIT: hey, it won't let me remove tags... Edited April 14, 2015 by oqhansoloqo
oqhansoloqo Posted April 14, 2015 Author Posted April 14, 2015 (edited) Previously I quickly glanced here: https://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Dawnguard_Armor#Dawnguard_Armor and saw that there were different variations - at least that what it seems like (3 colors for "Dawnguard Armor", and 2 colors for "Dawnguard Heavy Armor"). But what is good about the video that Neovalen provided a link to is how it shows supposedly the difference in the same exact piece of armor - which I do agree is too different, and I think in some ways not so good regarding the color sets and how the different armor pieces go with each other. Xaviien Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Don't worry about removing the testing tag.An admin woukd normally see that and convert it to a testing prefix, to mark it for actual testing, so I'm fairly sure they'll remove your testing tag when they would normally do that. Sorry if that doesn't make much sense. It's 1am and I haven't slept in around 24 hours due to pre ordering GTA V on PC. It's awesome btw.
Octopuss Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 (edited) This mod is yet another example of what I hate about retexture "mods". Take vanilla texture, upscale it to 4k, slap some filters on it, change a thing or two somewhere, and call it revolutionary ultra hd retexture of xyz. Just WHY? Can't people create anything on their own? I didn't even bother checking it ingame, because I knew exactly how it would look, and I was right. Had to stop the video at the shield, because there's only so much butchering of m favourite equipment I can take Edited April 14, 2015 by Octopuss

Can't people create anything on their own? Upscale, filters, change a thing or two is definitely NOT what the author of this retex has done. Fair enough if people don't like the color or material changes. If you're looking for something a little "sharper" but very very true to the HD-DLC originals, then I would take a look at Gamwich's Bethesda Performance Textures - Armor - Clothes - Weapons. Get the BPT_2K_ALL optional download, but it's just the armor variants for the DG set, not the boots, helmets or shield.
