FNV Edit log: Fatal: Could not find plugin list

Question

Posted

I began an install of FONV but wasn't managing the mods properly, so I scrubbed it all.

I just reinstalled FONV and have begun following EssArrBee's FONV install guide

So far I have installed the game and all the DLC, run the game, and installed DDSopt. I then installed FNVEdit to the main game folder.

I ran it and noticed in teh log that it had detected all the old mods I'd installed previously, in my UsersAppDataLocalFalloutNVPlugins folder. I had uninstalled all these to start from scratch, but I guess records of them existed in my AppData folder. So I deleted everything in the AppData folder.

Re-ran FNVEdit and now get this message;

FNVEdit 3.0.32 EXPERIMENTAL starting session 2014-10-03 21:11:57Using FalloutNV Data Path: D:SteamSteamAppscommonFallout New VegasDataUsing ini: C:UsersBen DDocumentsMy GamesFalloutNVFallout.iniUsing plugin list: C:UsersBen DAppDataLocalFalloutNVPlugins.txtFatal: Could not find plugin list

I have run FONV so that the game writes settings to the INI files. And FNVEdit did find all the .esm plugins in the Master/Plugin Selection.

I'm not sure if this Fatal: Could not find plugin list is a problem at this point, or indiicates something messed up, even at this early stage. I did remove then recopy FNVEdit into my Fallout New Vegas main folder, hoping that would reset it. It didn.t

Thanks for the help with this.

Hey EAB,

I didn't run FNVEdit through MO when I'd posted, but I had run the FNV launcher. At any rate, I have since done that and it works.

I was able to run the game from FNV 4GB Loader in MO.

However, I have now gotten up to the ENB install and adjustment, and I followed the instructions to the letter. But when I load game via NVSE or FNV 4GB Loader via MO, the game crashes immediately after the copyright loading screen.

Message: FalloutNV has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

I have not installed any mods yet, and haven't yet begun to clean the ESMs. (BTW, I notice you didn't list FalloutNV.esm as one for FNVEdit to clean. Is that intentional, that you started just with Dead Money?)

Can anyone assist in helping me figure out why my game is now crashing if I try to launch it from MO? I can launch it from Steam, but cannot launch any variant (not even Fallout Launcher or New Vegas) from MO.

PS-  As an aside to site admins: Why is there an option to upload files on these forums if file uploading is not allowed I took a screenshot of MO that might be helpful. It's a 40KB JPG file, but isn't allowed to be uploaded. Ugh.

Also, I looked for a Fallout forum here to post in, but didn't see one.

Use the image icon on the reply box instead of the file upload.

Enboost is before DarnUI and after the DarnUI INI edit. That INI edit will cause a crash. Either get up to DarnUI or remove the INI edit temporarily. I'm still working on getting everything in the perfect order.

OK, thanks.

I removed the Darn entries in the ini and removed the ";" in front of the default entries, but for some reason (this is new) I cannot save the ini file within MO. I get "Error failed to write to D:/Steam/SteamApps__rest of file location___.

No idea why. Nothing has changed in terms of ini location.

If there are other order errors in your instructions, can you let me know? I like to load FONV periodically during the mod install process, to verify that things are working.

Thanks.

PS Using the image icon to paste in images via a URL link doesn't seem to work either. I just tried that in a post I made in the Mod Organizer forum and it just provides a hyperlink that forum users have to click on. Weird that it's so difficult to do something so simple.

Also, I noticed that your instructions specificy making the font Darnified font changes only to the fallout.ini and not the falloutprefs.ini

You know that this same [Fonts] section exists in both ini files, right? fallout and falloutprefs.

I would think the user should make that adjustment in both ini files. Can you confirm or correct me on this point? Having the two ini files be out of sync would seem to be problematic.
