Question

Hey guys, I've noticed an issue with my water - it's not properly reflecting trees and often mountains.

https://i.imgur.com/Gps3Lsp.jpg - on the left side, some trees are not reflected

https://i.imgur.com/bcDk7Ln.jpg - 4 trees in the middle not reflected plus mountains which are very far should not be reflected.

Pretty sure this isn't ENB related since it's happening with ENB disabled as well.

Water mod is realistic water 2.

I have this in my skyrim.ini

[Water]
bReflectLODObjects = 1
bReflectLODLand = 1
bReflectSky = 1
bReflectLODTrees = 1

I've seen tons of screenshots with 100% correct reflections, so it must be some ini setting?

well..if that is a straight copy paste...you're already doing it wrong.

remove the spaces

bReflectLODObjects=1
bReflectLODLand=1
bReflectSky=1
bReflectLODTrees=1

if your ini looks correct then im not sure.

The spaces are immaterial. It should work correctly both ways, based on testing I've done at my end, anyhow. As to the actual issue... uhm... Skyrim! Yeah! That should explain everything!

EDIT: After thinking about it a little longer, there is no issue with the mountains anyhow. Yes, they're a long way off, but the angles are correct to have them reflecting. That doesn't look out of place at all. The trees on the other hand... I wonder if, because they are heavily LOD dependent, that there is some little flag somewhere that isn't triggering them for proper reflection? Probably way off base, but it's a thought, anyhow.

I think they're referencing the multicard issues... There isn't issues with the reflections only ripples...

nope. its an issue with reflections in correlation to Movement.

if you have nvidia SLI (which I do) and you have all the water reflections turned on, and then move your camera around near the water, you will immediately see the bug. Its kind of like the reflections are twitching or something.

The only known fix is to go into the nvidia control panel and set SLI mode to FORCE ALTERNATE FRAME RENDERING 2. This however will reduce your fps by about 20-30, which is too big of a hit for me so I just turn off reflections.

Also the water ripple bug is there.

Wait... are you talking about flickering between LODs (low res scrolling texture VS. high res). That happens with all setups. It's really common with Skyrim being maxed out and fast traveling to dense towns/villages. I don't know if there is a fix, its just another engine bug.

As for reflections, I rarely see it. I thought you meant it happens all the time...

I have an AMD crossfire setup.

The screenshot links don't work.  I've noticed that my water reflections are a rough *estimate* of what's on the other side.  sometimes trees are missing etc.  Isn't that normal?  Maybe if we're using something like SFO added trees aren't relected because the original game doesn't know about them?  I have no idea.

Had to clean up my imgur folder so I removed them. Your description is accurate and I also had the same thoughts about SFO. But I really don't think the devs would somehow program vanilla tree reflections into the water lol.
