CTD when installing standalone armour pack

Question

Posted

Hi all,

Currently trying to install a few standalone armour packs (UNP minidress, Ursine Armour, Gwelda Armour, Warrior Within Weapons etc.) but I get a CTD either before the main menu appears or when trying to load the game. I've tried using LOOT (as I'm using MO) and I've also tried having them all at the bottom of the list but same result.

I can live without them but I'd obviously prefer them :P

Thanks, Mix

Might be a dumb question, but... you are using UNP female body replacer, right? I am just trying to think of all possibilities, and that one is the most obvious, but it is human to err. And whatever load order LOOT assigns should be ok, and those standalone armors shouldn't need to be loaded at the bottom. Where do you have them in your install order, they should be in the same place you have other character and equipment mods installed. Also, you could use the conflict tab in MO to find out what mods might be overwriting it, or mods that it is overwriting and depending on the mod, shouldn't be. Or, use tes5edit and check for errors, DoubleYou's rule of thumb is to generally stay away from mods with <error cannot be resolved>. So if any of those mods have that error, might want to reconsider.

Thanks for your response. Haha, yeah I AM using the UNP replacer :) I copied my profile that works perfectly and installed Black Rose armour. This is a standalone armour mod that contains a .ini, a .bsa and a .esp which wasn't overwriting, nor was overwritten by any other mod. I place it inbetween a couple of other UNP clothing mods and (after running FNIS) booted the game.

I loaded a save and received the infamous "This save game relies on content that is no longer available" message. (I hasten to remind you this was on a clean save that was made only 2 minutes prior to adding this mod) After loading the save, I was naked and was receiving all the messages in the top left as if I had started a new game. (Such as immersive armours configuring, Quest started: Helgen Reborn etc.)

Any ideas? Thanks again.

Did you remember to rebuild the bashed patch and SkyProc patch after adding those mods and or changing the load order? I wonder if they are not being merged into the bashed patch properly and need to be, they add items to the game obviously, they might need to be manually tagged maybe so Wrye Bash includes, otherwise, you won't get any of the items in-game. This bash thing, I might be stepping a lil out of league, any smarter people out there know if what I am saying might be a possibility?

I've never run a bashed patch, and I've not done a SkyProc patch in a long while.. But I've added various armours and weapons before without a problem :/

So, you don't use bashed patch is what you are saying? And you use Dual Sheath Redux, but haven't re-patched the SkyProc? If you use DSR, and you have changed your mod line-up, I would recommend you do re-patch it. And I can't think of a reason why you wouldn't want to use a bashed patch, if you got any mods that alter the leveled lists, then you need something that will patch those changes into the game. And I have no knowledge of an alternative to using wrye bash for this.

Correct, I have not used Wyre Bash at all. I've not repatched DSR it but I can live without it, but I will run the patcher again. Yeah I've seen a few mods that do that, I'll look into both of your suggestions and report back shortly. Thanks again for your replies :)

So I tried running the DSR patcher but it kept getting stuck at the first part when it was trying to use BOSS. (Manually specifying the location of BOSS and re-installing DSR patcher got me nowhere.) I then installed and used SUM but after using the patcher, I CTD before the main menu appears...

It seems like I won't be getting any more weapon/armour mods :(

WAIT, use the -noboss command line argument in MO, where you tell it where the file path is, I have to do that cause I use LOOT, and running boss screws up my load order. Also I have to click the box to "force patch" cause sometimes it gets messed up. Try that and see if you can get DSR working right again.

In the argument section, it should look something like this

-jar "C:Steam-SkyrimSteamAppscommonSkyrimMod OrganizermodsDual Sheath ReduxSkyProc PatchersDual Sheath Redux PatchDual Sheath Redux Patch.jar" -NOBOSS

Sorry for the delayed response. I did as you suggested and ran DSR patcher and the -NOBOSS command worked! But DSR isn't working in my game.. I tested some vanilla weapons just in case there was an issue with weapons that mods added but nothing worked :/

**EDIT** Tried a couple of different things but they either result un CTD or just not working. I think I'll just give up on it, it's not like I barely have any weapon/armours packs :P Thanks a lot for your help this evening :D

OK, so is your SKSE up to date and installed correctly? Also did you remember to install xp32 max skeleton and install it with the STEP recommended options? Um, do you have all the patches that DSR requires, elemental staffs, weapon de-larp etc, also if you have Better Shaped Weapons installed you have to make sure that it is overwriting DSR and it's patches including the DSR SkyProc patch you make. Not meaning to question your intelligence with this, just thinking about anything that could stop it from working, cause I have had issues in the past with DSR myself. Think my problem had to do with the way I had xp32 max skeleton installed and the body replacer I had were causing conflicts with each other. I used to have UNP myself at one time, but I think that is around the same time I started having problems with DSR, so now I am using CBBE.

Just spotted something that is most likely relevant, https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/34155/?

DSR has mesh patches on the nexus page and so far Warrior Within Swords is one of the ones listed as needing a mesh patch. Prolly gonna need that.

LOL, looks like I got a few mods that need some of those meshes myself.

Haha it's often the simplest solution that works! But that's not the case for me :/ Hmm maybe it's UNP.. As I said, it's not really a big deal and I do already have a tonne of weapon packs..

There are a load of mesh packs! After downloading and installing them all I'm still in the same position.. Ah well.

Dang, that sucks :/ You know what's gonna happen right... either at some point after giving up, a light bulb is going to turn on and you are going to know what the deal is, or after giving up, then at some point later you sorta forget that there was a problem, and install the armor or weapon pack again, and this time it works, lol. The latter tends to happen to me all the time.
