Unclear Instructions and STEP:Extended???

Question

Posted (edited)

I apologize again for another "dumb" topic.

I find that STEP is very hard to follow and confusing because of lack of information, directory and misinformation in parts.

My specific problem this time is that I hvae finished (finally..witth some trouble) installing STEP:CORE, and I kept reading about this STEP:EXTENDED.

But when I click on STEP:Extended it takes me here:

https://wiki.step-project.com/Pack:STEP:Extended

This is nothing more than a small portion of the already installed CORE mods...so..what am I missing.  This happens a ton where a link takes me to some old info or old page and it gets REALLY confusing.

This is exactly why I have never fully used STEP in the past, nor any of my Skyrim playing friends.

Upon Further looking, is it that the GREEN labled ones are part of CORE and the others listed in the original guide are the "Extended" mods.

I installed ALL of them at once, is that proper?  And if that is true does this mean I should use the EXTENDED Patch ONLY and not the CORE Patch?

Core are the mods with the green bar next to them on the step guide. We are removing the extended mods in the next version of step to help streamline the guide. Just install everything in the guide and you get step core and extended.

I actually finally figured it out right after I posted.  Just got so frustrated but once I started comparing the Extended guide mods..I notice dthey ewre the ones not in green.  What was confusing is nowhere did it tell me that the non green ones were extended.

Now I have to go back and fix some things that were specific to using extended..but shouldn't be too bad :)  Thanks.

Was using the wrong patch as well, had core, I need CombinedHF instead.

Woo.

Now my next dilemna is, installing mods not in STEP...where ot put them in the order, etc..going to be confusing.

(And just because I don't want my posts to come off wrong, I love STEP and am only frustrated when I can't understand things which is because I have been working on STEP for nearly 5 days now when I have free time..and am in the READY to play the game mode now..but still have mods to sort out..lol)

Just stick them in the same category they are in STEP, i.e. armor and weapons in the equipment section. I suggest making copy of your step profile and then adding in other mods so you can always revert back.

That's exactly what I've done.  Made a copy as a back up and a new one to start adding new stuff.

I was putting mods in the categories as well...but was worried it might conflict.  Others have said to put them at the bottom of the list but before the patches.  Doesn't matter much I guess as long as I put them where I want with overwriting files (by my preference) and run BOSS/LOOT.

You are removing the Extended mods?? How would one know when to put them in the installation order(left pane) of Mod Organizer then?

I assume in the new guide for Extended it will tell you where to put them?
