LF tips on set up. STEP + ??

Question

Posted

Hi everyone, first post here.

Incoming wall of text, well kind of, TLDR at the end.

After a week of downloading, reading, testing, ******* up installations, reinstalling, and more and more reading.

I am so proud of this "completely" clean and stable, STEP CORE Installation, cleaned with TESEDIT and with its bashed patch from wryebash done to my best knowledge.

Who wouldda thought that the 180 or so mods that I installed would actually make skyrim run better while also looking better and being endlessly more functional.

I want to thank this community for the great effort they put in their guides and for how great you guys make skyrim through STEP. I have learned so much in the last week and a half its incredible, and I am already embarked in personal retexture projects. :)

I now, want to finally do my first proper playthrough, and I am in need of advice. As I really want to have a consistent and meaningful playthrough, or "playstyle" that will last until endgame. In my two previous playthroughs, I found that I got to level 40 really fast, barely advancing in the main quest and the enemies became meaningless. (Only did denmer ruins on the reach, a bit of companions, a bit of thieves guilds, just met the blades). I would like this playthrough to be a challenge from beggining to end as much as possible, and knowing my case, would love your advice.

What I have considered:

OPT1: STEP CORE+ REQUIEM EXTENDED+ PART OF INMERSIVE SURVIVAL PACK+ WAR ENSEMBLE+ COMPANIONS+ PITFIGHTER + PITFIGHTER TRAVELS + WEATHER AND LIGHTING STEP PACK W/WO ENB? [asus 5870 Xfire x2, but runs better with one :( ...]

question: Do things like ASIS, The revenge of the enemies work with requiem, I have read rumours and seen packs that include both, I will figure this out, but will I need them with Requiem on legendary?

question2: Would the proposed set up work?

OPT2: STEP EXTENDED+ ALTERNATIVE TO REQUIEM [(SPERG???, a bit lost here), Loads of enemy difficulty enhancind mods that I couldnt use with requiem] + WAR ENSEMBLE+ COMPANIONS+ PITFIGHTER + PITFIGHTER TRAVELS + WEATHER AND LIGHTING STEP PACK W/WO ENB?

question: Really need your input here,I am clueless!

BONUS question: I know its a bit girly but, my wife also plays every now and then (lies) and will "need" to install Apachii and Ethereal Elven Overhaul, any tips or incomming problems you experts might forsee?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

TLRD : Extremely happy and thankful to the community after I managed to install and "understand" Step CORE. Looking for input and tips in setups after selfproud image.

I'm actually having a load of fun my current playthrough, and everything is still challenging, and I still don't have any gameplay hardening mods in. I've been playing on expert, but have restricted some of the things I do. I never train. That makes it much harder. I always used to do the pickpocket-training exploit to level up and become ultra invincible really fast. I've focused on Conjuration, Restoration, Light Armor, Two-handed weapons, and especially Sneak. My sneak is over 100, and I have all perks.

In order to kill an elder dragon now at level 45, I have to use the Spectral Arrow spell constantly. If I were to run up to him and start hacking him with my sword, I'd be dead in one or two bites, contrary to how I always used to play. Spectral Arrow is a conjuration spell that deals minimal damage but enough, but the best thing about it is it causes the attacker to stagger. This makes the Dragon forced to now shout and not go flying off.

And enough about my playstyle...

I think the Gameplay Overhaul pack would be up your alley, philosophically. The forum thread is here https://forum.step-project.com/topic/4762-new-gameplay-overhaul-pack/

Thanks very much for your input, already having a look at the guide and excited at the prospect of merging pluggins ^__^

Hi, doubleyou, are you using Requiem? How do you sneak without detect life ;P

Before I stopped playing I had a ranger with Illusion and Archery as main categories, Sword and Dagger, Light Armor and Stealth as secondary categories, and then threw in Alchemy and spent points mostly on Poison side of the tree. It was super fun using sneak then Illusion skills to move around enemies instead of killing all of them like I usually do. If I had to fight from range I had poisons and in close sword and dagger.

I used Uncapper to set up my skills. You can slow down the stuff that aren't major categories and speed up the main ones. Also, made some contribute much less to overall leveling and made the main ones contribute a little more.

It is really amazing what that little plugin can do to affect gameplay.

I had STEP Core, some extended mods, Frostfall, Immersive Armors, and Immersive Weapons. Probably a few more weapons and armor mods, but much more than that. Really fun after about level 10 when needs stop being such a chore.

Nope. Detect Life? How is that going to affect sneak? I just crouch and backstab.

Thats why I tried to say, but kinda failed at it. If you are a real ninja, Detect life spells are cheap magician tricks.

Used to love setting up long chains of kills with detect life though. It was fun.
