Mod Organizer Spotty Downloading, Won't Log In

Question

Posted

I'm having a very frustrating issues with a great tool. Mod Organizer worked just fine for a few hours and then I started having problems downloading consistently from Nexus.

Some mods download just fine and complete with no problem. The majority of mods stay at 0% for a few seconds until Mod Organizer pops up with an Error: Download Failed. Server Reported:. The download then immediately pauses and attempts at resuming it prompt the same error. This happens in both Chrome and Firefox. Sometimes when a file fails like this, the Mod Organizer replicates the file in the Downloads pane. The duplicate file is also paused. Attempts to delete the second file report a Failed to delete <path><mod>/7z.unfinished (obviously attempting to refer to an already deleted, unfinished file).

If Mod Organizer is not set to automatically log in to Nexus, the failure happens in another way. When a download is queued, Mod Organizer will prompt for a username/password. Though the combination is confirmed to be correct, the program will attempt to log in for about a minute and then display two error messages on top of each other: Server time-out and Failed to log in.

Regardless of what options are selected for log level in settings, the most recent file I can find in the Mod Organizer's log folder is named mo_interface and reports these two things:

[*]If using Firefox to download:

C:Program Files (x86)Mozilla Firefox

MO at: C:Program Files (x86)Mod Organizer

not primary instance, sending download message

[*]If using Chrome to download:

C:Program Files (x86)Mod Organizer

MO at: C:Program Files (x86)Mod Organizer

not primary instance, sending download message

I've also tried to use the .47 NMM version workaround, to no avail. What's happening here?

Nexus changed the url through which the login happens (or at least it disabled the url I was using before). Therefore MO can't login (which it reports) and therefore downloads > 2MB don't work.

I'll release an update next week, until then I'm afraid there is little to be done except for manual downloading.

This started happening yesterday for me too. I'm guessing Nexus changed something, but I cannot think what. Will probably have to wait until a new version of Mod Organizer until it gets straightened out.

I am having the same exact problem, I'd say probably 8/10 mods will fail downloading for me.

As a workaround, I have been:

1. Downloading the mod files manually

2. Transferring the entire archive to a folder on my desktop

3. Using the "install mod from archive" function of MO and navigating to the folder and selecting the archive.

Is this actually a correct way to do things or are my mods ending up in the wrong places? And does MO also work for mods that have no esp files and are just, say, meshes for example? Or should mods like that be installed manually?

Likewise, I haven't downloaded anything but I can't check to see it any of the mods I use have updated. It loads and says I'm unable to log in. Hopefully it will get fixed soon.

I'm having the exact same problem. It started last night about 10 PM MST. I know that so specifically because I had been working on installing STEP all afternoon before that without issue. The one difference I have is that every once in a while instead of "Server Reported:" it actually tells me my password is incorrect. I get identical behavior when I tell MO to not log in automatically.

When you manually install you can save it in Mod Organizer/downloads (which is where MO would have put it anyway) . It will appear in the Downloads list in MO with a Caution symbol. Then just right click and Query Info and proceed as normal. Its a few more mouse clicks but the net result is the same.

I've seen people not using MO say that there is weird issues going on with the file name being replaced with the file description. This happens with manual downloads too. I haven't any issues the last couple days and I've been downloading files like a mad man on Skyrim and FNV nexus. Maybe they just love me more than you guys. ::P:

Is this the preferred way to manually download mods? Or would it be just as well to install from disk and navigate to the default download folder?

Also, thank you for the quick update! I'm glad this is not a user problem ;)

What is going on? I've never had better downloads from the nexus than the last few days. I barely have to wait at all, before the downloads would take about 15 seconds to start. See this is what happens Larry... This is what happens... This is what happens when yo....

I always DL from Nexus manually, rename & archive the file (thanks OCD!) and then drop in MO downloads directory & install.

Finally getting to the relevent part of my post, I notice that Nexus allowed me to choose a server before, now it automatically selects one for me, and I have faster response so thanks Nexus.
