Recommendation for Follower

Hi STEP forum members,

 

I am looking for recommendation regarding new follower/ replacement. I am using Extensible Follower Framework. I checked on Nexus and find a few interesting/popular followers including Inigo, Arissa, Hoth, Mirai, Bijin warmaiden, and Vilja.

Inigo and Vilja have great voice work, as does Anduniel, which makes for immersive gameplay. Both Anduniel and Vilja have their own quest content, not sure about Inigo. I recommend all three, get a home base so your not moving a small army across Skyrim. Disclaimer: I'm an AFT user, but EFF should give you a similar experience if I understand correctly.

Do any of those followers actually work with the features from AFT or EFF?  My understanding is that all of those followers have their own unique follower structure and might work alongside, but they won't actually be affected by, the features from the big multi-follower mods.

 

As far as which one, I would recommend reading whatever information is available on their personality and story.  Depending on what type of character you're playing and what you want that character's back story to be, you might find some of them are more compatible than others.  I believe Indigo is actually suppose to have a shared history with the player;  Hoth might be a bit abrasive as a companion for less barbaric characters (or could provide a good counter); etc.  I'm not familiar with Mirai or Bijin, but I believe that all the others are very well done, so pick the type of companion you think you might want.

Anduniel and Vilja definitely have their own follower functions separate from AFT or EFF, not sure re- Iningo. I mentioned those as they have great voice content. Vilja also has dialog with vanilla followers, so you could use EFF to bring along Lydia for example, and Vilja will occasionally speak directly with her.

Oh, I didn't mean it as a negative against using any of these followers.  But since thiausmle mentioned EFF and you mentioned AFT, I wanted to bring up this point since the particular multifollower mod in use probably won't make any difference or have any impact on these followers. 

 

I've used Vilja and have to say that her comments to and conversation with the vanilla followers is very well done and a really nice feature.  Overall, though, I don't really care for Vilja because her personality tends to conflict too much with the type of characters I play.  However, the mod is exceptionally well done, and I was impressed with the level of detail and thought that went into creating her.

Yeah, The EFF beta has plugin support if users that make custom followers want to take advantage of EFF features. Expired is the man as far as I'm concern. Best part about New Vegas was the companion wheel and he brought it to skyrim. I use it for vanilla followers and just let the custom followers do their thing.

Agree that the follower wheel is great... Just wish more mod authors would support it.

I really admire the quality of work behind Vilja. Vilja herself drives me nuts with the endless chatter, but it's very well done. I can see why she has so many fans.
