I cant get this ENBoost-Thingy to work...

wu_trax

Question

... at all.

It shows the Intro-Screen, including information about ENB and my graphiccard in the top left corner, and then just crashes back to Desktop. tesv.exe, SkyrimLauncher.exe or skse, all the same. According to the ini-Settings that intro shouldn't even be there.

I followed this guide: https://wiki.step-project.com/ENBoost#Recommendations and whatever else there was before in https://wiki.step-project.com/STEP:2.2.8

I also tried the Injector-Version, descriped in some guide on nexus, same result.

I disabled all mods and everything, so it's just Skyrim and ENB. Without the ENB-Files everything works just fine.

Graphiccard is Gigabyte Geforce GTX770 with 4GB

ENB-Version is 0.254, but I also tried 0.236 and 0.221, same results.

I would be really happy if anyone at least could point me in the right direction as to what may be the problem. I don't even know where to start looking.

I think now I destroyed it completly, at least now the game crashes when started in MO, even without ENB.

SKSE.ini:

[General]ClearInvalidRegistrations=1[Memory]Enable=1MemBlock1=512MemBlock2=256[Debug]WriteMinidumps=1

The version is 1.6.16, I think. The most recent stable version, downloaded yesterday or the day before.

MO works again, apparently bFloatPointRenderTarget=1 causes it to crash with or without ENB

The SKSE-version is 1.6..., but I dont think SKSE is the problem either, because it also crashes if I use Skyrim or Skyrim Launcher.

Anyway, for today I think, I'll just have a few more beers and enjoy this beautifull Skyrim without ENB

Tomorrow I'll try reinstalling the nvidia-Driver, maybe that helps.

Thank you guys for the the help.

when in doubt, reinstall Windows...

After installing a brand new windows the injector version gave me an error message 'd3dx9_43.dll missing'.

I'm not sure if it was missing before though, I would have thought that file is part of the directX installation. Maybe reinstalling windows fixed some other problem.

Anyway, it seems to work now.

Thanks for your help, even if it was some other kind of problem.

In principle, I do not recommend reinstalling Windows that much...Also that d3d9_43.dll missing error is there because you need to update your DirectX.

I'm not sure if it was missing before I reinstalled windows or only afterwards. Anyway, it all works now and looks pretty nice :)

Is it normal that my 4GB Geforce GTX770 is pretty much maxed out with Step:Extended + Wheather and Lighting with Unreal Cinema? Or did I now mess something else up?

Maxed out how so? If on GPU usage it should just about always be near 100% usage (at least above 75%) when gaming generally otherwise it's either not a very demanding program/game or there is a problem of some sort. If you're talking about VRAM wise... that'd be quite unusual

An ENB with some/any of the heavy-hitters turned on (DoF / Ambient Occlusion etc) can make most PCs go into flick book mode on top of a reasonable mod list. If I switch from a performance .ini to a 'max graphics' .ini it will drop my average FPS from about 45-50 down to 30 or less (Step Core + Requiem). If I add the REGs pack and run with a fairly meaty ENB, I can hear my 660TI squeal in pain at certain points on the map.

Just the GPU at 100%, so thats nothing to worry about then. I didn't do any performance tests yet, but the game itself works nicely.

I'm still amazed how good this all looks, why did I play Skyrim on a PS3 all the time :(
