Skyrim High Definition LODs by tamu75

Looks like another LOD mod that is quite large compared to the others. Seems to replace all the LOD files, over 1GB in size, unpacked. The download is only 270MB.

Textures and meshes in 2k and 4k resolution. Pictures on the mod page look, but they always look that way.

I'm guessing I can unpack the BSA in MO and nix the ESP in order to test it our in a running game? That sound like a solid plan?

--Scratch that...I just realized that I have my game running with minimal VRAM usage out and about...don't want to mess that up with ridiculously sized distant LOD files. :/

Good call, amigo. You need to upgrade from that 1GB card when the tax return comes in.

I'm happy with misty and foggy distance views...no z-fighting for me! :)

Parallax-ed Vanilla HD Landscape Textures...with all the ultra stuff saved for caves, dungeons and other interiors which my venerable 6850 Cyclone can handle just fine.

We need a TES5LodGen ...badly.

[WIPz] TES5LODGen

QuoteQuoteTES5LODGen by Ehamloptiran

Objects LOD generator tool for Skyrim.
Works in conjunction with LODGen.pas TES5Edit script which exports information about LOD objects in selected worldspace to a text file used by a command line LODGen.exe utility to build the actual objects LOD meshes (*.BTO files).
QuoteQuoteWARNING!!!

Due to a lack of texture atlas generated LOD files are bigger than the vanilla LOD and requires more than average PC. No problem for a smaller worldspaces, but Tamriel worldspace in Skyrim is very packed with LOD, so generated LOD won't work for everyone resulting in infinite loading screens and/or crashes.
The only way to optimize it is to create RAEVWD mod for Skyrim that will not only add new lod objects, but change all existing vanilla lod models to use the same atlas texture. A manual made atlas approach instead of automatic atlas generation that CK does. And that would be a lot of work to reUV lod.

I know distance terrain around whiterun looks strange. But Meshes and Textures are generated automatically by oscape.I don't know how to change textures color. And unfortunately, terrain textures are so many.so...maybe I can' change distance terrain color.I am newbie modder, sorry!

That's what the mod author stated in the discussion thread. I'ld say, we'ld really need to check whether here's an improvement over current STEP before we consider using this mod instead of HQLOD etc.

Well, there is now a LOD Noise file that we should look at. You'd be surprised how a simple noise texture can change things. Someone did one for FNV and it makes one of those "when you see it" type changes. Know I can't play without it.

Ess, you're the one who created the FNV modding guide, right? I'm thinking of reinstalling that and modding it again. I can't wait. My previous save file was modded with Gopher's modding guide from like 2010 lol

"DYEMB" you should definitely reinstall FNV and try "SRB"s guide, you will be very surprised how the game plays with new advances like 4gb & NVSE w/ memory patch 3.0 features.

Kuldebar: amazing image, though I'm more than a bit overwhelmed by the LOD nomenclature, certainly love to see Skyrim look like this.
