Multi Quote and Quote malfunction

Question

When using Multi Quote or Quote buttons on a post that already contains a quote, the quote is not quoted in the quoted post...

This quote is not getting "requotted"

To recreate, simply press Multiquote or Quote buttons below this post and see the contents of the quick reply window below.

That's not a bug, s4n disabled multi-layered quotes to avoid quote pyramids.

Ah, OK, wasn't aware of that.

I can see the logic behind it, but would it be possible to allow for 2-tier multiquotes only? It would be beneficial I think.

I agree. A 2-tier would be good; however, I don't know if it's possible to control it on that level. It might simply be an on/off switch.

It is possible. I will add this, as I find that this is applicable (and helpful) much of the time ... single nested quote only.

Ran into an issue.

When you post two times in a row quoting a separate post in each reply you receive a big fat warning that you've exceeded the maximum quote allowance because of the forum attempting to merge your second post into your first.

Did this happen prior to allowing multiquotes? (I never noticed but also never tested explicitly)

Merging posts is a nice feature I think, so would rather disable multiquotes again.

No, it used to be possible to quote up to 8 posts in the same post, now it seems we can only quote 2 posts. I think you modified the wrong setting. D:

Yeah, I can confirm CJ.

If you disable again, can you edit the merge feature so it puts in a HR tag above the merged post like it did on the old forum? Can't tell you how many times I've had to go back and edit my posts because the feature merges the posts by putting the merged post directly below the first without any spacing or anything to separate the two.

We do not want excessive nested quotes. One is the max s4n prefers, but I was willing to go to two deep, which is what it is right now.

Yeah, I can confirm CJ.

Adding the [ hr ] tag is not possible in the GUI for automerge. I'd have to look into modifying the template for that.

I was able to reproduce the error on a test thread I created.

Since automerge is a valid function (not neccssary to use the horizontal rule element, IMO), we do need to allow multiquotes. The current quote limit has been increased to 4 (from one), and the automerge time has been decreased to 5 minutes (necessary to prevent thread spamming). Anyone that hits the quote limit with these settings probably deserves it!

*Facepalms*s4n had that setting set to 8 (as you can see here). You didn't increase it, you halved it.

Woops, you are correct. I thought the max quotes per post also defined max nested quotes per post (for which there seems to be no ability to set explicitly, which is rather limiting). Since there seems to be no way to limit the number of nested quotes, I turned off that quote nesting functionality and raised the number of max quotes/post to 12, which should resolve all issues other than multiposting with quoted posts that sum to a total number of quotes in excess of 12.

For example, if you quote a post containing 8 quotes and then post to same thread within 5 minutes, quoting another post containing 5 or more quotes, then you will trigger the error (which only displays in "full edit mode", but simply fails without error in "basic edit mode").

There is no quote nesting functionality now, which was the case before I change anything, so I effectively only added 4 additional quotes per post and reduced the double-post merge time from 10 to 5 minutes .... whew!

When creating a new account, forum.step-project.com is sending the following validation link:
      https://forum.step-project.com/index.php?app=core&module=global§ion=register&do=05

      where it should be:
      https://forum.step-project.com/index.php?app=core&module=global&section=register&do=05

Similarly, the auto validation link is broken:
      https://forum.step-project.com/index.php?app=core&module=global§ion=register&do=auto_validate&uid=xxxx&aid=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

      but it should be:
      https://forum.step-project.com/index.php?app=core&module=global&section=register&do=auto_validate&uid=xxxx&aid=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Finally, the https interface is open with a bad certificate and an admin management access. Even if you don't care about secure access, you should at least close down that interface since it's a separate running instance. Alternatively if you're using it for admin operations you should assign a non-default port so it won't get accessed by mistake.

Hi, not sure if this is the right place to post this, so forgive me if it's not and please move it to the right section.I've noticed that using the search feature provided by the Tapatalk app just runs an infinite search with no results.Using the mobile site or the full site, there are no issues so I'm not sure if this relates to the API or the site itself.Could someone test this to see if it's working as intended? Thanks
