Fear and Loathing in New Vegas - Feedback

Recommended Posts

I'm also thinking a lot about what plugins to dump. I think Mojave Nights is a good one. The only thing the plugin does is adjust the size of the moon, the rest of the mod is texture replacers. I think it'd be good to just leave the plugin out of it if possible by changing the installer options. Like for moon size choose default.

The poetry one should probably be removed too, I think. Waste of a plugin spot.

note the only difference between the LAER re-texture that is currently in f&l and the mod is that Elijah's advanced LAER has a unique texture then the standard variant

As far as dropping mods - are there any that drastically drop FPS and don't add something worth such a drop?  For me, I don't think it was texture mods, it was something else causing drops in FPS.  Been so long that I messed with FNV that I don't even recall what section of the guide the issues might have been in.

I know one major performance-killing mod is the Populated Casinos mod, as well as the Gomorrah .esp for New Vegas Redesigned 3. They cause my framerate to drop heavily in the Strip Casinos and the Atomic Wrangler. I suppose some will find the enhanced atmosphere worth it, with actual people populating the buildings, but not me.

I'm still unable to run the game with FNV4GB via MO because of the problem with a different steam id... Does anyone know if Tannin is planning to fix that anytime soon? I'm gutted!

What Steam appid are you needing? Why is different to everyone else's?

He may have a polish version. I think, but I forget exactly what country roots is from or lived in.

Well I thought of that but FNV4GB and MO work with those Steam appids as well. At least according to the FNV4GB page they do.

Just in case anyone misses the instruction to add the -o output parameter to the FNVLODGEN tool, you will find the results in the MO overwrite folder. It caught me by surprise when I couldn't find them then I realised I had missed that step.

It takes about 20 minutes to do all Worlds on a 4770K at 4.5GHz.

Out of interest, are there any plans to include tree LODs at any time? I know they are turned off in FNVLODGEN because of the landscape mod.

Tree LOD is broken in New Vegas. It has a tendency of dropping the LOD at the incorrect time (i.e. not when the actual mesh is loaded).  It has been completely replaced with Object LOD, which is of higher quality anyway using actual 3D models than can be angled, instead of straight 2D texture.

It can be used for small vegetation, which I need to run through.

Was wondering if someone could answer a quick question for me about the guide: for ILO why isn't the .esp that comes with the Ultimate ESM Edition not needed? I looked on the page but I couldn't find anywhere that said that it was not needed.

The mod page says:

Interior Lighting Overhaul - Ultimate Edition

This file is a load order fix that meant to be loaded as low a possible in the load order.

I'm assuming it's meant to regulate the load order, so it's not really needed if you know what you're doing.

BTW, I recall you mentioning a while back that you'd be working on re-textures for the Goodsprings outfits (e.g. Doc Mitchell's outfit). Is that still going to happen?
