Thinking of using STEP , First Question, is STEP following the wiki page and just installing what has the Green bar. IS extended STEP everything not Green but also on the same WIKI page?
Is STEP about a base game, that one adds mods too like SkyRE and Frostfall.
AS i am really, really, accustomed to using Wrye BAsh, since Oblivion and FCOM days, can this also be followed with only using Wrye? I watched a few videos on the use of MO and all during the videos i keep thinking...i can do that in Wrye.
Decided to put background stuff in spoilers ...
First 2 playthrus of Skyrim (since release day) i ran with about 50-60 mods and one character had 227 hrs (total play time to date 460+ hours)...ya i like Skyrim. Set Skyrim aside to play Fallouts for a few months, but really couldn't get into them.....so back to Skyrim. for this run i decided to Start fresh and nuked skyrim and downloaded again fresh. After installing 130 mods i found i had a repeatable crash, took a few days to find out it had to do with creature spawns (IC) and starting a new game fixed it. But i worry that i could have other things i am missing, that will lead to problems in the future.
Reading about STEP I see that a lot of work has gone into this, but I see mods that i don't have right now, that could help with a stable game. (I have a screen cap of Skyrim @ 19 HRS play time) so ya i like it stable.
At present this is my BAIN List followed by a MOD list. Every single mod was restructured in BAIN to include patches and updates, can this also be done following STEP?
Bain Packages:
000 - ==End Projects==
001 - ==Official==
++ 002 - Official HD Packs.7z (9EAC0820) (Installed)<<<<yep the Dlc,s are a massive file....lol
++ 003 - Unofficial High Resolution Patch-31255-1-1-5.7z (39698250) (Installed)
In case anyone does actually look into the Spoilers...yes i do have the Patch for the Official HD dlc's and the actual ESP's don't look like they are in ...but i do have the textures loading as a BAIN package, so WRYE can track the conflicts for me. I see that in Step you also do this and you use an optimized version, think this is something i would also like to try (optimized textures) in my game.
I did have Cot and Lights an FX in that save but removed them for a Lighting and weather mod found on the ENB dev site. Thinking this was what led to the crashes (removal of Scripted MODS) but ....ELE wants ..Relighting Skyrim so i switched them out.
I didn't really want to give this all up , but if i have to i will, can i just add in what i have missed in my downloading to get closer to a STEP install or would it really be necessary to start over?? As this took a month or so of reading read-me's and adding one mod at a time, starting and running around. Using Speedmult i can traverse the entire map for an hour at 900 but at 1500 i stall and crash after about 15 mins. is there a better test? As i figure i will play this for years. Played FCOM till Skyrims release and that character probably had 1000's of hours vested.
Sigh....re reading this post i realize a few things....before i even post it ....1) posting about not following what you have layed out is not wise....2) figure anyone reading this is gonna think...Idiot just start over.. 3) im gonna have to start over...
Think i need to just read this all over again, and will more then likely answer my own questions. Hi again. thanks for having a Forum one can ask silly questions in!!
