Question

I get the following error whenever I try to run Skyrim now that I've upgraded to Mod Organizer 1.1.1.

In case dropbox/imgur isn't working, here's the link and it reads:

"The action can't be completed because the file is open in Skyrim" and refers to plugins.txt.

It seems that now whenever I try to open a save, my SkyRe thinks there's been a change in installed mods, so I get a Respec, but then many other mods go crazy. Sounds of Skyrim reinitializes, Skyrim Tycoon just starts to spam me...

Basically has rendered the game unsaveable.  Any idea what is causing this?

I am trying to solve a somewhat similar problem that appears to somehow be related to file permissions. For me, I get the "file in use" dialog, but I can cancel it and the game loads and is playable in every other respect as far as I can tell.

I have found that MO also seems to alter file permissions for four files in the current profile including plugins.txt after starting the game. These files are shown in my second image at the Imgur album below--they are the files with the padlock superimposed on the icon. I can manually take ownership of these files as administrator after closing the game and MO, which removes the padlock, yet it does not eliminate the error on the next start.

I have tried manually taking ownership with my administrator-level account, ensuring that all users have full control, adding "Everyone" as a user with full control, replacing the profile with a new copy, and ensuring that all executables run as administrator. None of these steps have helped.

The behavior began after installing MO 1.1.1 and proximate to a CTD related to a missing master for one mod that I later corrected (this might have nothing to do with anything, but it is the context for when I noticed the error).

I'm having the exact same issue, and I believe it's causing CTD when loading.  Any ideas or luck fixing your problem you could share?

Thank you!

The strange part is everything loads great though Tes5edit.  I am using Mod Org. if that makes a dif.

Going by the images, the only thing I can think of is if Skyrim crashed and did not close. Start task manager and see if there is an entry for TESV.exe. If so then end the task.

I checked the start up and nothing else was running.  I ended up deactivating all mods and it would still occur.  I just switched and started again with a new profile in MO and that seemed to work.
